Later a guy took our table over and he was nice enough but a little scattered. My friend had the chicken which she really liked. It was a good portion​ and moist, she ate it all. I had the soft shell crab blt which sounded better than it was. The crab was smaller than the bread so I wasted a lot of the bread, and ate the crab which was nice. The fries were only okay and I did not finish them and I am a fry freak so there ya go. We waited forever to find our server (the last one) to get out check and settle - only after getting the hostess to track him down - so it could have been a better experience but I would probably go back and try it again. read more

This review has been sitting in my draft section for about two weeks now. I came here about two weeks ago. The food here was better than I expected. The wait staff was super friendly and helpful. The reason my review is on the lower end is not because of the food nor the wait service but because of what happened during checkout. So my friend and I both order food. My food came out perfectly and I had no complaints about my food. My friend's food was a different story. She ordered a salad with squash and salmon. They first forgot her squash. That's not a big deal. But the salmon was super raw. Like it wasn't just seared and pinkish on the inside. It was like a raw piece of fish once she past the superficial outer layer of the fish. The raw fish was laying on her salad. We showed the waitress and she even said that it was super raw. And she apologized. So At this point I was done with my food and my friend didn't even get to eat her salad because it came out way past when I was done eating. She took her food to go. I felt bad cause I was stuffing my face and she was just watching me eat. We were expecting them to comp the salad. Being that she couldn't even eat. But the check came back and it was still on the check. So we asked a manager. And the manager got obviously annoyed. And I was pretty surprised because her whole wait staff was so professional about the situation. The wait staff was polite. Also we were being very polite about the situation. I visited for the first time today for my son's birthday and it was by far the worst experience ever. When attempting to enter the restaurant, I was a bit confused where to enter so I asked an apparent female employee, little did I know she was the host. Anyway she informed me we could enter that way, we made our way in and waited for what felt like several minutes for her to decide to come in. She finally came in and I kid you not, we waited for about another 8 minutes for her to even acknowledge us, never even greeted us or at the very least used a hand gesture. Not only was she not personable, but we all felt she felt bothered by our presence. At this point I don't know if her unpleasant attitude was because we are Latin American or she assumed we couldn't afford to dine there. Anyway, luckily our server was pleasant for the most part but the bland food, the super long wait for basic dishes and the hostess lack of customer service and uptight personality overshadowed the good. So all you 9-5ers can coast over here and be All Set for a relaxing evening on the patio, or in their coastal-chic themed bar. Get the fish tacos at happy hour. You'll save $3.00, so they're just $3.00 each. La Malinche's are $5.00 each! Get the real deal here. They're crunchy, and the flavors blend well, especially with the avocado lime ranch, which is the same dipping sauce that comes with the chickpea fries ($7 during HH). Carnivores, don't be scared away by a tiny chickpea. These are delicious too! The order is big enough to share. We sat at the bar, my favorite spot. New place in downtown SS, where Golden Flame restaurant was located. Parking garage across the street is a bonus along with lots of metered parking. Both options are free after 6! The food was quite good, not 5 star omg this is the best ever, but very tasty and perfectly cooked fish dishes we had. It's going more of a contemporary style food and presented nicely. We got rockfish ($24) and salmon ($24). Highly recommend both dishes. The oysters Rockefeller app (5 to an order) was good, but a little overly buttered. The chickpeas fries were okay, but I know my company enjoyed it. I think my favorite part, which is also my biggest weakness, is desserts! That summer short cake was so good! I could have eaten another. The wine list is short and moderatetly priced, with most bottles hovering in the $30-$40 range. We got a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and was quite good. Service was good. We liked Jack as our waiter. Friendly and not overbearing. They also have a kids menu too. Place is nicely decorated and was very happy with the setting. Four and a quarter stars. Fair amount of street parking in the area if you don't care to Metro or park in the local garages. Cute interior, some patio seating, clean bathrooms, great service from Zachary. Decent bottle beer list. Harvard Yard cocktail was nicely balanced. Chickpea fries and short ribs were impeccably delicious-- great crust on the former; tender meat and the right amount of bleu cheese in the potato mash for the latter. Wild mushroom risotto was savory and flavorful, house cut fries were crispy. Grilled chicken sandwich was the only disappointment-- an overabundance of feta mayo made the bottom layer of foccacia a little soggy, and the chicken was a little dry despite being generously portioned. Lobster roll ran small for the cost-- I think Luke's Lobster offers a better deal on that. Their happy hour specials don't cater much to our interests, but we'll be back to try crab mac & cheese; chicken & biscuits, Wicked Good Morning, Blown Off Course, Hihowahya, Boston Tea Party, Elizabeth in Paris, beer-and-a-shot. read more

As if one star could even express how disappointed I was in this place. As a 10+ year experienced industry worker myself I don't know where to start so I guess we can go from the very beginning as I entered. The host stand had people waiting, seemingly they were already helped, she continued to ignore our presence as she answered the phone. Once we finally were acknowledged, we were quoted a 20 minute wait time by another host/manager who didn't know what was going on so we headed to the bar. My guests seat was wet, which he had to clean himself. We did not receive water or assistance until well after 5 minutes. Once decided on our drinks we waited about 10 minutes and then were able to order food. We ordered food...20 minutes into waiting for food I was told what I ordered was out. Now I can see it's busy, I'm industry, I know these things happen. This is when a manager should touch the table and/or bar seat to a) apologize b) try to remedy the situation. My guest ordered SIX oysters, they still had not hit the table, after 30 minutes now he is bombarded with his COLD app and HOT entree at the same time and 35 minutes later. After he is finished, my salmon skewers finally arrived. Did a manager take the opportunity to speak with us then? By now you can assume NO. They did not ask if we even enjoyed what we ate. Over it and ready to go to add injury to insulting service we were then MISCHARGED. Oysters that were a $1 each somehow ended up on our bill as a $21 charged. The male bartender did not know how to refund and recharge us properly so now we are left hungry, upset and waiting. Waiting for a charge to fall off for the quoted 5-7 business days. I won't be back to say the least. Owners should revisit the steps of service with its entire FOH staff. At this rate, I can't imagine this place staying open at a profit much longer. College Park area didn't have any decent dining spots for a post graduation dinner so YELP brought me here. I was nervous about this place but booked a reservation for our large party. Antoine (hopefully I spelled it right) was very accommodating in answering my questions and booked us. It gave a great first impression so my worries disappeared. The time came and we arrived. My buddy and I went to the bar first while we waited for everyone else and ordered some Harvard Yards. It uses Buffalo Trace Bourbon, one of my favorites so the cocktail was obviously kick ass. So good that others in our party ordered it. Finally everyone showed up and we got to our table. We started with a group of apps: mussels, sriracha biscuits, chickpea fries, oysters (raw and fries), and calamari. All delicious, the mussels and chickpea fries were the best. We ordered two more of those since we loved them so much. I had the lobster roll for my entree, others ordered seafood pastas, fish and chips, ribs platter, and more lobster rolls. The lobster roll was amazing, I had it with the special mayo they use and a side of collard greens. The ribs platter had some of us envious, it was large and smelled great. My friend who ordered it had no complaints whatsoever. Parents had the seafood pastas, they compared it to the entrees they eat back home at their favorite restaurant and claimed it was just as good. First time they've compared one favorably! The others who had fish and chips enjoyed the flavor and crispiness. Long story short, we loved and devoured our plates. For dessert, we had the apple crisp and donuts, both amazing. Got my mom to eat a donut, she never eats sweets. She tried to be discrete about it but we caught her. That's when you know the chefs did something awesome! Atmosphere reminded us of being on a cruise ship with the rope designing patterns and chandeliers. Also had a private dining area where my party and others ate. Our server Shemayne (hopefully I spelled it correctly) was very kind and attentive but not over bearing like some servers. Uber excited to try this place out, as it has gotten such great reviews. The funny thing is, I have frequented this area but have never noticed that it was where it was. Located in thee Silver Spring off of Fenton Street, in the lower level of the tall office building. Street and garage parking are available. If you park on the street, there is a fee, parking is free after 7p in the garage I believe, it is a short 2 min at most walk. The interior of the restaurant is nice, nautical and what not. The lighting is pretty cool. I think it would be nice for a date night with your boo or whatever. I believe there are daily HH specials. For dinner I had the grilled pork chop with the sweet potato, that also came with the kale and bacon. My friend had the crispy salmon with ratatouile. Both entrees were presented beautifully, my portion was large, the salmon in my opinion wasn't as large. My pork chop came with some sort of apple chutney. it added a nice taste to the pork chop, but I thought it was a wee much on the plate. The potatoes were cooked nicely and the kale and bacon was just awesome. I mean everything is better with bacon, right? The pork chop was a little fatty and wasn't cooked as evenly as I would have liked but it was still tasty. The salmon was cooked to perfection, it was supremely fresh and the crispy skin set it over the top. The ratatouille was delicious as well. I just wish it came with a little bit more, I swear my friend looked hongreh after she finished it. Ha! The service was fair, I think he was slightly overwhelmed, I tried to redeem my check in offer, but I honestly think he forgot that we asked for it. This is my first visit. I bookmarked it from a Yelp search the last time I was in the area. The ambiance is gorgeous & trendy. Both inside, & outside seating is available. Service is oddly slow, they aren't busy. My tuna tartare was supposed to be made with a white soy but it wasn't. It was just the tuna & avocado. Clean but bland. Because they omitted the soy, there was no flavor so I had to salt & pepper it. My trick would have worked if the salt shaker would actually shake out salt. The crispy skin salmon was pretty good. Slightly overcooked and dry on one end of the filet, but still palatable. I would have loved another hot tea, but no one came to check up on me and I was too lazy to hail anyone. The water here is amazing. Very clean, served room temp. I inquired and learned they had their own fancy pants filtration system. The ice cream cookies were pretty good as well. I came here for Sunday brunch at around 11:30/12, and our party of 4 was seated immediately. Three of us ordered our own cocktails (our designated driver chose coffee instead), but we all agreed to let everyone try some of each. The Wicked Good Morning (cinnamon whiskey, almond cream, coffee syrup, and coffee), Perfect Storm (rum, lime, pineapple, and ginger beer), and Queen Bee (gin, yellow chartreuse, lemon, elderflower liqueur, and lavender syrup) all got a unanimous thumbs up. I chose the black bean and quinoa burger for my meal. I appreciated the seedy and hearty whole-wheat bun, which was much more filling than the typical fall-apart white burger bun, and the addition of chipotle coleslaw as a burger topping, which prevented the patty from seeming too dry. I wasn't sure what to expect with the chickpea fries, but they were absolutely delicious, with a lightly crispy golden exterior and a fluffy, moist interior. To give you a sense of how good these were: the friend to my left who had also ordered the veggie burger and had pretty much finished her meal asked me if I was going to finish my last fry, which had been sitting unattended on my plate for all of 5 minutes, clearly hoping that my answer would be no - and this is coming from a person who proclaims she's "stuffed" after the smallest snack. While some people might balk at the prices (each cocktail was $12 and the burger $14), I do think that the quality of the food, service, and atmosphere make it worth it. I'd definitely make the 30+ minute trek back here solely for the chickpea fries. However, it would be great if the menu could include some more vegetarian and vegan options, even if only pointing out how existing dishes could be modified to suit dietary preferences (ie: substitute vegan cheese) so customers wouldn't feel picky or difficult for asking. It's worth noting that the only vegan option on the brunch menu was the burger - unless you want to count the fresh fruit side - and even though it's so good you won't mind being 'stuck' with it, having at least the choice between a sweet or savory meal would be far better. read more

Everything came out hot, fresh & you could tell, a lot of care. We cstopped in for quiet Saturday lunch & really enjoyed our choices. Started off sharingwith chicken wings - deliciously fried, plump & for me, just enough Old Bay. Followed up, with clam chowder (little too much bacon for my taste) and cesear salad with wonderful anchovy flavor. I didn't taste my companions burger, but the shrimp po boy was delicious. I loved the attention to detail in the architecture. The menu was elegant and very palatable. We ordered the trout, black bean burger, mussels and fries. We also ordered wine, a stormy drink; every was surprisingly good. Not one complaint were food is concerned Service, was a inch past average. I did expect more but We did arrive late. The only issue I had was the slight order that lingered inside. We opted for a seat outside. Hopefully, this was a one time incident. This new restaurant in downtown Silver Spring did a great job on interior design. Everything inside is nautical themed and the place is spacious and roomy. There is an outside patio for those nicer days in Silver Spring. We ordered the chicken sandwich and the short ribs. The presentation of the food is very nice, the short ribs were on top of mashed potatoes. Both the chicken sandwich and the short ribs were good, the short ribs could have been a little more tender. Service was fantastic. We also came back another time for happy hour--can't beat $1 oysters! We bought 3 dozen oysters (can you tell we love oysters?) and got their chickpea fries, their fish tacos, smoked fish dip, and their house punch and a beer. Their chickpea fries, which I have never had before, were an interesting twist to fries, but very hearty. Their fish tacos came in a trio and the fish was battered in a cornflake crust and had a nice crunch to it without being oily. The only complaint I have is that even for happy hour, the prices are a little high. All in all, great addition to the downtown Silver Spring area! read more

I enjoyed my time here at All Set. I came here on a Sunday evening during Phase 2 of reopening from the pandemic. They had their patio open, and while there were a few other tables dining, it was relatively quiet. The staff all had on masks and gloves and it was suggested that patrons also wear their masks when their waiter or waitress comes to the table. This is the new normal. I ordered the warm lobster roll and substituted the fries for Mac and cheese instead. The lobster roll was delicious. The bread was toasted just perfectly. It was warm and soft. The lobster meat was abundant. There were nice sized chunks and the butter sauce that comes on it is delectable. It was honestly perfect. The Mac and cheese left a lot to be desired. The noodles were a bit hard, like they were undercooked. And the flavor wasn't great. But I ate it because I was hungry lol. My friend had the lobster Mac n cheese and she liked it. I took off a star because the host originally sat us in the way in the back. A part of me thought I guess it's good because we weren't close to any other patrons. But it was so far away it didn't even feel like we were a part of the same restaurant. After my friend arrived we requested to be move to one of the many other open tables that were closer to civilization. That same host also brought us out a pitcher of water and glasses for us, but didn't pour the water for us. I also thought that was weird, but I again told myself that maybe it's because of COVID. I really didn't like his vibe. Everything else besides him was great, and I would return. And pay $10 extra for the bigger sized lobster roll. Oh and my drink was tasty. It was a great time to catch up with friends I hadn't seen in awhile. We were looking forward to the Drag Brunch at All Set R & B. Great service. Our server was on the ball despite having to dodge dancing drag queens. For a $10 cover charge, the show was a decent distraction, but it was more dance, a bit vulgar, & lip sync rather than the entertaining variety show and hilarity I was expecting. Now, back to the restaurant. It was EXPENSIVE and the food was barely mediocre. Not even close to the taste and quality I'd experienced during happy hours sponsored by work. I chose this venue for our lunch because of the delicious food we'd had here previously, but what we got on this visit did not meet expectations at all for the prices. Bottom Line: All Set was not a good deal at all as far as food and drinks go. For food that seemed to race to the table before the show started, my sandwich and fries were cold and not full of flavor or mouthwatering. For the amount of the tab for drinks and food for four (they automatically tacked on a 20% gratuity and I'm not even sure whether the tip was based on the $40 cover charge), the drag show should have been free. Hands down one of the best dining experiences I have had in quite some time! Jake, our server, recommended that we try our Sriracha cheddar biscuits with some freshly made honey-butter and we are SO glad we did. We have enjoyed meals here maybe ten times over the years, however our lunch on Saturday was a disaster! Our server was clearly overwhelmed and as a result, our service was poor. As a very experienced server, I recognized the look of panic in her eyes. We waited a very long time for a bottle of wine and a soda. Like way over twenty minutes. Eventually I expressed to another server that she needed some support. We ordered mussels to share and she brought one plate for the three of us. When I asked for more, she brought one more. My daughter's food had a weird black item in it. My dad's tuna "tasted like spam". My lobster roll and cole slaw were very good. I've never had food that was so flavorless other than salt. Everyone check your blood pressure because it's gone up half a percent if you've eaten there. The tacos, the wings, the crab cakes, the entire table was awash in salt. So terrible! However, the staff was great! Everyone from the host to the servers were fantastic. The tuna tartare seemed kinda mushy to me; wasn't bad but wasn't that good either. My friend and I split the clam chowder. I'm not sure what to think about it being green... But it was okay. We ate it but I wouldn't recommend it. For my entree, I got the lobster roll. It's weird how it could taste super unhealthy but not be super delicious at the same time. Usually those two go hand-in-hand, lol. Maybe it's the butter that they use that makes me not love it. Definitely eat it with the chips to add texture though. Hidden Jewel! I did not know of this place, when a friend suggested it. Let's start with the cocktail I ordered The Perfect Storm! And it truly was perfect, the pineapple and ginger complimented the rum exquisitely, it was a well rounded cocktail. It paired well with my oysters on the half, which were chilled to perfection, with a sweet yet briny taste. The main event was the TROUT CRAB MEUNIERE, a filleted trout on top of a bed of roasted vegetables, glazed with a white sauce and topped with lump crabs meat. This dish was straight from farm to table, you could taste the freshness of the trout, along with the purple potatoes and other root vegetables.
