All Mobile Locksmith (AML) replied to my inquiry fast, gave a competitive quote, and showed up the same day - for this, I'd give them 5 stars. That said, while AML fixed my main issue of putting in a new lock cylinder, it left me with other issues -- a constant beeping chime upon opening the door (the beep you normally here when you leave your headlights on, or when turn your key to the ON position, with door open) AND my 'Wait to Start' light no longer appears on the dash (this is Diesel specific) prior to startup. As I'm looking to sell this vehicle, I'm now looking at another $375+ to address these new issues, which makes me rethink my original decision to go with AML. read more

I was in a boat at the San Pablo Dam. My friend asked me to open up a bottle of Jarritos. I said sure and gave it a try. Jarritos is a bottled Mexican soda. It wouldn't open by twisting so I figured I could just pry it open with something since I am quite experienced with using lighters and other things to open beer bottles. I was very limited to what I could use to pry the bottle open since I was on a boat. I wasn't going to use my teeth... so what did I think of next? That's right... The one and ONLY car key to my GS300 Lexus. I pried the bottle with a ton of force and what happened next truly amazed me... The metal portion of the key snapped off the shell of the key, spun in the air and landed in 17+ feet of deep water. There was no way I could have jumped down after it. We all watched in shock as the key quickly drifted to the bottom of the lake. The irony is that area of the lake is called "Graveyard Cove"!!! I wasn't sad or mad. I was just puzzled to fathom that something like this actually happened. Why couldn't the key have landed in the boat? The owner of the Jarritos bottle felt so bad... Lol. We continued on in our boating adventure in the San Pablo Dam while i tended to my situation by making important phone calls. I spoke to my insurance broker from State Farm who didn't have any referrals in El Sobrante, because he is from San Jose. He told me to call a locksmith in the area and fax him the bill later. I used my iPhone and googled for locksmiths in El Sobrante. The first one i called said he wouldn't be able to service the area I was in so he referred me to All Mobile Locksmith and said I would want to talk to a guy named "Walt". I called All Mobile Locksmith and spoke to Tammy, who kindly took down all of my information and dispatched Walt. Walt called me and I told him what happened. He told me exactly what I could do next in the situation I was in. Walt was extremely helpful and I could tell he knew the ins and outs of the lock he was about to work on. Not to mention, Walt also knew the ins and outs of State Farm. Walt told me to enjoy the rest of my day in the Dam and that he would be there at 6:30-7pm. The dam closes at 7:30. After enjoying the rest of my day, I went back to my car and I saw Walt and he had already finished creating the backup key for my car! Luckily he was able to contact Lexus to get my key code because all of this happened during regular business hours. I was amazed to be in the situation I was in, be able to enjoy the rest of my day, get a replacement car key made, and leave the dam before it was closed. Walt is truly an amazing Journeyman locksmith. If it wasn't for him, I would have had to get my car towed to the nearest Lexus. I would have also had to wait a few days before Lexus fixed my car and gave it back. Plus, Lexus would have also charged me at least double what All Mobile Locksmith was charging ($300). read more

The difference between business as usual and a great business is how that business responds when something goes wrong. My experience with All Mobile Locksmith is why I consider it to be a GREAT business. I own an old Honda that has been really good to me over the years. But, just as old as the car was my key. A fluke accident (dropping a key from a third story building is a BAD idea) required I finally get a replacement key. I found All Mobile Locksmith on an Internet search and went there thinking it would be a quick and easy errand. Unfortunately, the age and condition of my key kept that from happening. Ignition froze up on my '04 Ford Focus. After getting it towed home from the grocery store (Sunday-so our shop was closed), I hopped online and found out this is a pretty common problem. Apparently relatively easy to fix yourself if you can get to it before it's totally frozen (owners of older Focuses - address this as soon as the ignition starts sticking!) This job, however, proved beyond my abilities. After calling around to several East Bay locksmiths, I was referred to All Mobile (actually by the owner of Long's Locksmith who couldn't get to it for several days, but seemed like a quality guy). Made an appointment for later that day after talking with Walt, the technician on the phone. He was very informative and it felt really good to talk to the person who would be doing the work instead of just a dispatcher with no knowledge of the work. Walt showed up on-time and by the time I had walked up and down the driveway to retrieve the 2nd key, he had already removed the ignition. For reference, I had by this time spent about 8 hours attempting to do the same task. "Wow, that was easy." I commented. To which Walt replied, "You're not paying me for my sweat, you're paying me for my knowledge. That's why I always tell people, 'Before you start tearing things apart, call someone who knows what the hell they're doing.'" Casually attempting to block his view of my steering wheel and airbag on the back seat, I thought "Touche, Walt. Touche." Bottom line - great service, new ignition, two new keys (used the transponders from the old ones), one year warranty, and the confidence that this issue won't arise again - $300. I didn't want to write this but I felt cheated. I hope it was a mid communication but this is what happened. I was having trouble with my programmable key, what I thought was the issue. I was told to give him a call, so I did. I was told over the phone that he would come out to check it out. If he could reprogram the key, it was going to cost $100 and if he couldn't do it, it would cost me $20 just for gas. I thought that was very fair. The story doesn't end up with a fairy tail ending. He spent about 15 to 20 minutes plugging a computer in the car to see if it was the key. No reading came back and the light for the key went away on the dash. Nothing was fixed and not even a new key. He then went to his truck and filled out a invoice for $100 dollars and I have him cash and without saying much, put it in his pocket and said if I needed more help, call. The quote on the phone was $100 if he could get or make a new key and if it worked and if it didn't, he would charge ?20 for gas. Of course I would of gave more then $20 for he's time but I got nothing for the money. I'm hoping it was a misunderstanding. Right now I cannot recommend him. I even thought we could use him for multiple stores but not now. This is my experience and everyone is different. I'm disappointed but I'm not here to keep you from going to him. Just get things in writing or make sure it's very clear on what you are agreeing too. read more
