I hired Paul for a really routine re-keying: it was a slow, expensive, and rude experience, but I want to support my neighbors on Garth Road, so I didn't say anything assuming it was a bad day. Then I had to have a second experience with them: The lock started sticking more and more, to the point where I was concerned the key would snap off. I called him, he hung up on me mid-question (saying his wife would call me back to schedule things). I called back and he sent me to voicemail; at that point I got fed up. By the time his wife called me back: - I requested quotes from Yelp - Another locksmith reached out, gave a quote - That new locksmith showed up, replaced the lock entirely, and spent time shaping the lock according to the shape of the doorframe. He was also polite and friendly to talk with! - He charged less than 1/2 the price for *all* of this than Paul's routine re-keying. So by the time Paul's wife called me back, I started to say "look, I don't need your services, someone already fixed it for me". She got incredibly defensive, to the point of ranting about how the super of a co-op was recently fired, and something about an affair? It was weird, she hung up, then immediately called me back (off to voicemail with her!) and I resolved to write this review. What the heck. I just hope they're not replaced with another salon.

I hired this locksmith to replace my front door lock. He installed a new lock and told me that the…read moreBaldwin lock he provided was better than my previous Schlage. Right away, I noticed that all the keys he left looked like copies rather than original manufacturer keys. I later followed up to ask why I hadn't received an original key with a brand-new lock. During that conversation, instead of addressing my question, he repeatedly said, "I don't remember you," at least six times. I had already acknowledged that I reached out later than I should have and did not expect him to remember me. My only concern was understanding why I didn't receive an original key. From the beginning of that interaction, he came across as defensive and did not clearly answer my question.

I cannot speak highly enough of David and his team at Lockmasters. From start to finish, the…read moreexperience was exceptional. We had just moved into a new home, only to find out the front door lock was installed incorrectly--completely upside down and backwards. David arrived promptly and was able to open the door on his first try. He quickly diagnosed the issue and explained everything clearly and patiently to both me and my mom, who was understandably stressed with the move from Pennsylvania to New York. David remained calm, professional, and reassuring throughout. When we realized we had misplaced the only key we had, he went back to his shop and returned with what was needed to cut five new keys on the spot. He also reassembled the lock correctly so we wouldn't run into issues later. To top it off, I accidentally locked myself out of the garage, and David kindly factory reset the system to make sure I could safely access it. His care and attention went above and beyond. A special thank-you as well to Monica, his sister and business partner, who answered my call just as she was heading out. Her kindness, follow-up, and coordination were truly appreciated. This company is the definition of reliable, professional, and compassionate service. I'm incredibly grateful and will recommend them to anyone in need of a locksmith.

We paid a lot of money given the short time he was here. Three days later lock still wasn't working. I called Carl (having been locked out) and rather than stand by his work he said he couldn't come by for 4 days and that I'd need a new lock. I called another locksmith, who came out, changed the battery, said I hadn't needed any drilling and charged me half of what Carl did for a service call. I texted Carl, told him I no longer need him and asked for a refund. No response.
