Rigo did a great job with the 3 things I had done: replacing an electrical panel, replacing 2 light fixtures, and installing a smoke alarm. He was on time, knowledgable, and efficient. I don't think it is necessarily the cheapest option around but with something like this, quality and experience matters and they did a great job and handle permits and such. They did exactly what I asked them to do and were responsive over email and able to ask the exact questions they needed which made things seamless. This is not necessarily a bad thing but they could have probably done some kind of "walk through" around the place and found some additional work for me. Upselling is obviously not always a great practice but in my case, there were some things that I wish I had done and I think they could have suggested them and left it up to me to say yes/no to during the initial inspection. For example my kitchen could definitely use at least 1 additional outlet, I should have probably replaced a 3rd light, and so on. I do respect that they don't try to take you on a ride but since it is probably efficient to do things all at once, may have been helpful to discuss (this was also my bad for not noticing these things before). Rigo did a bunch of smaller things that made a big difference too like taking out the packaging for the lights and the old ones as well as the old electrical panel, clearly labeling all the switches very neatly which was not well done before, answering my questions and explaining things in a way that I (someone with little knowledge about most of this stuff) would understand.

Raushan, the project manager, was great to work with and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. He was responsive, organized, and always made sure we were informed and comfortable with the plan. Alex, one of the technicians, worked incredibly hard during the rewire and clearly took pride in his work. Bek, another technician, truly went above and beyond - paying close attention to the details and making sure everything was done perfectly, not just "good enough." When Esed answered my call he asked me several questions about what happened and what my panel looked like then proceeded to walk me through how to force reset over the phone. His kindness in walking me through it over the phone not only saved me the cost of having an electrician come out at short notice but also saved me from a cold night without a working furnace. He was so communicative throughout the project with updates and explanations. I really appreciated him giving me options that would save money if we wanted. He was also so kind and friendly and just all around easy to work with - when you have people in your house doing work it's so nice to have those vibes. Super hardworking along with his assistant - never saw them resting and stretching out the hourly billing. The work was done exactly as we asked, plus extras like him offering to paint around the base of the new light fixture so it wouldn't look janky (saving us money on having to hire a painter later!). Berkeley Electric, (Zalman Sher, owner) converted my home service from 100-AMPs to…read more200-AMPS......and obtained City Inspection/approval for BOTH THAT JOB, and an e-vehicle charge station that I had installed-as-far-as-point-of-connection The 200-AMP installation was made quite difficult by a new PG&E requirement...!!!....of a three-foot-square platform.....directly beneath ANY NEW meter-installation.....AND...difficult because directly under my existing Meter the earthen slope would not ALLOW any-such platform.....AND....difficult because Original alignment of an Electrical Service MAST..!!.. is SET...!!!...as a legal matter of EASEMENT..!!!...from which even 16-inches of deviation....becomes IMPERMISSIBLE. Zalman Sher (Berkeley Electric) solved those difficulties by shifting the REQUIRED three-foot-square platform...to an area of lesser gradient, and THEN BENDING an offset into the new Mast Conduit, bringing its alignment into the same as the old mast....HURDLING all "Easement" requirements. Then finally....Zalman....without whining and balking....conformed to my desire that my new Circuit Breaker Panel, NOT be placed outside, as included-part of the exterior METER Panel, but rather inside...where I would have "dry access" to it, should a circuit breaker TRIP, and enabling FAR LESS-COSTLY..!!... For a job in the $50-60K range, I feel that questions should be expected. When the electricity went out on the upper level of our home, we called them for help. Instead of sending an electrician, they first sent a salesperson who couldn't assess the issue, only confirm that there was a problem. We were told we had to pay $475 just for a diagnosis, which could be applied to repairs, and that an electrician could come later that day. With no power, we felt pressured to agree. When the electrician arrived, he initially said our 10-year-old electrical panel was in bad condition and needed to be replaced for over $7,000, with a two-day wait. When we explained we couldn't wait, he tightened some wires on the spot and turned the power back on. He then changed his recommendation and said we didn't need a new panel, just a "cleanup" for $6,500, which he said would take 3-6 hours with two electricians. He also quoted $4,500 to clean up our downstairs panel. On the day of service, only one electrician showed up, and it took about three hours to complete the panel cleanup. Based on what we paid, this came out to over $2,000 per hour. I decided to get a second estimate for our downstairs panel, and the work was completed this morning for $360. That is a huge difference from the $4,500 quote we were given. Our experience with Five or Free was misleading, inconsistent, and extremely overpriced. AVOID!
