It's a passenger one that fits four, maybe five people, with a latch screen door. It's a rarity to have this in this neighborhood (Chinatown) which makes parking for the service crew challenging. This is why I try to make early appointments, preferably before noon, knowing they and their staff are East Bay based. My window for a Monday morning was between 9 am and 11 am. I was just calling their office around 10:40 am to check on the guy's status when I got a call waiting flashing. The technician told me that he was in front of the building so I ended my call with their office person and told him that I will open the door in a couple minutes as I was on the 3rd floor. It was the first time for this tech on working so I walked him floor by floor in checking the contacts, the panel response, and other potential issues with the elevator. The building is four stories high plus there is a basement station for the elevator. He was very thorough and did not find any issues. All told, he was done in a little over twenty minutes. Thanks to Neal this time and the other numerous times to Anthony and other service guys who have helped us here. Always nice to know who to call for this and possible repairs... knock wood on the latter.

From the very beginning, Austin has stood out as one of the most communicative, responsive, and reliable professionals I've worked with. He handles the maintenance of our two elevators here at Menlo Towers with a level of professionalism and attention to detail that gives us full confidence our equipment is always in excellent hands. Whenever a question or concern comes up, Austin is quick to respond, clear in his explanations, and proactive about finding solutions. That type of consistent, dependable service is invaluable to us as a community. Over the course of my management career, I've worked with several elevator service providers, and I can honestly say STAR Elevator, with Austin as our lead technician, has been the best by far. The expertise, reliability, and genuine customer care we've experienced are unmatched. Please extend our thanks to Austin and to the entire STAR Elevator team for delivering such exceptional service. We truly appreciate the partnership and look forward to working together for years to come.

One bedroom had sunk by almost 5 inches as that part of the house had been built on fill. In order to restore the house to it's proper level numerous foundation jacks and floor leveling screw jacks were required. In addition some landscaping bushes and pvc sprinkler pipes had to temporarily removed. Groundworks had informed me prior to starting work what would be required to successfully complete this project and had my full approval. The house is now level, the doors no longer swing on their own and the interior cracks between the walls and ceiling joints no longer exist. Prior to the crew leaving the yard was cleaned up and the pvc pipes replaced. Best of all Groundworks will come back annually to the next 5 years and make any necessary adjustments. The Groundworks crew that made this happen was Andrew, the site supervisor, Charlie and Allen. Their performance and daily communication was superior on all levels. This is part 2. The Groundworks Poly crew of Anthony & Brian were very fast and efficient in completing their part of the foundation repair contract which was to level our family room slab floor. Fast, yes, but Anthony did take the time to not only explain what they were going to do but also walked me through the process as they were working. I have no problem in recommending them & Groundworks to other home owners who need to have their foundation repaired.

Strand Builders is one of the companies I would highly recommend. Steve Strand has been helping homeowners for over 30 years. He is very professional, high skilled and most importantly has high integrity. Steve goes out of his way to please his clients. If considering an expansion, consult with Strand Builders.

In 2015 my husband and I began construction on a new-build farmhouse in the Orinda Country Club…read morearea and Steve Strand took over the construction of our home at a point where we were completing the dry wall. Despite being a brand new build, it was effectively a back-to-studs re-model when Steve came on-board. Our home is highly-custom utilizing high-end fixtures and fittings which can sometimes be finickity to install but Steve's experienced network of subs didn't get phased. The walls downstairs are custom milled poplar siding which were sawn and installed board-by-board and upstairs we have board and batten siding throughout demanding quality carpentry work. There was a moment shortly after Steve came on-board which I have shared with friends that, for me, captures how Steve approaches his work. I came up to the site a few days after Steve came on-board and he had purchased a number of Ipe decking boards for our porch. Steve was showing me these Ipe boards and explaining why he had chosen each one in terms of the vibrancy and complexity of each board and while trying to have a conversation about these boards, I was welling up because I knew then that we had finally found a contractor who cared as much as we did about the details of our home; this was on the tail of parting ways with a very challenging contractor. Steve's attention to detail never, ever, faltered regardless of what that meant to the timeline of the project. His focus on delivering an amazing outcome combined with his talent and experience to achieve that goal is the reason why he is such a successful custom home builder. As another example, the stovetop range hood took days to get perfectly right involving multiple attempts up and down a ladder to get the fit perfect. Steve could have fudged it and moved on but that's simply not his approach and I'm grateful for that everyday. There are so many areas in my home which have been elevated by Steve's attention to detail. Lastly, Steve and his superbly talented carpenter, Carlos, are professional and respectful to work with. Contractors who successfully work with clients on a custom home build need to be patient, flexible, creative and have a business model that allows them to focus on delivering an amazing outcome. Other builders might focus on speed and budget which is ideal for spec homes but not custom homes. I can't recommend Steve Strand highly enough. If you are fortunate enough to have the opportunity to work with him, you will be in the very best hands. Steve completed our home in December 2016 and worked so hard to finish the house so that we could be in for Christmas. We're indebted to Steve for coming on-board and creating such a beautiful home for our family.
