Wow, wow & wow. This new establishment is absolutely amazing from service to portions to taste. It's smaller but cozy and romantic. It's byob for now but I believe I heard alcohol license next week. Tonight we had chicken parm & a salmon as entrees with calamari as an app and pb cheesecake as dessert with a fabulous coffee. The parms were delicious and a large portion with a nice side of pasta and salad or soup. The side salad could definitely not have a head lettuce mix and instead a full mix of spring or the like. Charming little restaurant that opened last month in Pinebridge Commons that opened last month. I had the privilege's of meeting Paul, one of the two owners. He and his friend Brian started this restaurant with a "made from scratch" entire menu and to give patrons an opportunity to enjoy a homecooked meal. They are currently in the process of setting up their own website but you can find their menus on Facebook. They have a bar, however since they don't have a liquor license as of yet, the place is BYOB with a cork fee for wines. Complimentary WiFi is available and I learned that they are doing catering for the holidays. Take out is also available. My girlfriend and I stopped over here for lunch. The place is very clean and service top notch. I was glad they do offer a lunch menu which offers a daily special. They are known for their homemade wedding soup but they do offer a soup of the day which is listed on the board when you come in. They do have a gluten free menu if needed. They also have a good selection of Italian foods. I decided to try their wedding soup and go with their bistro chicken sandwich. The sandwich comes with grilled chicken breast topped with peppers and onions, melted cheese, lettuce and tomato. Note, all sandwiches come with chips but for an upcharge you can substitute any side listed on the menu. I decided to pair my sandwich with fresh steamed broccoli. My girlfriend decided to go with the wedding soup and a small salad. I got the soup first and it was full of homemade goodness!! I can see why it is so popular. When I got my sandwich I was amazed that they served it on a whole hoagie bun. The lunch prices are decent but you really get more bang for your buck with this sandwich. Paul explained to me that they like to give their customers the whole hoagie bun but they do offer doggie bags just in case. The sandwich was so good I really wanted to eat it all but decided to take half of it home. My girlfriend loved her salad which for a small size was fairly generous. She also enjoyed her crock of wedding soup. They do offer desserts but with all this food we had no room for it. Both cash and cards are accepted for payment. All American Bistro is a new hidden gem in Upper St Clair. Pinebridge Commons has their own parking lot which gets very busy during the day since they have a lot of medical offices here. Met another couple here for dinner. Full bar. A wonderful evening with great food and service. Nicole, our waitress, was very attentive and super efficient. Shared the zucchini appetizer , a light breading with a delicious marinara sauce. Dinners were 2 chicken parmigiana, 1 chicken Marsala, 1 spots frangelico. All included soup or salad and a side. All excellent, large portions. Left with leftovers. The owners Paul and Brian stopped by to ask if all was ok. Will definitely return. read more

We were at all American bistro tonight. There were about 5 tables and they were larger parties. You could tell from the moment we walked I. They were a little stressed. But it was a Friday buddy. We were seated about 7:15. Handed menus. We sat at our table for 24 minutes and not one person walked up to us to say hey we are busy tonight here is a water and we will be with you in a few minutes. It would have been fine. But for 25 minutes no one addressed us or greater us just ignored us in there rush to serve tables. Only one of which had food. We will not be back not because they were busy but because customer service was terrible that they could not speak to us and just ignore us for 24 minutes. South hills folks- if you haven't been yet you are missing OUT! Give this small business a try you will not be disappointed. I've been several times now with different family members and we have yet to find a dish we didn't love. The Mediterranean salmon is our favorite, and they can customize for picky eaters! Complimentary bread in addition to BYOB corkage fee is always nice for those looking to save some $$ but the prices of the dishes in general are so affordable and give you so much food you won't think twice. We have also tried the spaghetti and meat balls, chicken picatta, Italian burger, chicken sandwich and the Vesuvius pasta dish - pictured below after I started devouring! The food was ok though not great. The issues were with the noise level as well as the person I presume was the chef holding court at the end of the night. You already can't hear the person across from you as the acoustics are horrible, and the chef came out and loudly held court with two tables while we tried to enjoy a romantic dinner. It was so loud and obnoxious and went on for over a half hour that we packed up our uneaten food and left. I wish them well, and get they are trying to meet with the public, but shouldn't do so at the expense of other patrons dining experience. read more

The restaurant is cute and has a neutral decor. However, we were seated next to a window that was lined with blue lights, giving our table a "bar vibe." Did not care for the carpeting in the dining area.... How clean can you really get that??? Service was fine. Our salad came out quickly. The meals took longer than expected (we were one of only 2 parties in the restaurant at the time). The food was good, but not exactly what was expected. Baked cod with shrimp scampi... I would not expect the cream sauce from the cod to be mixed with the buttery sauce from the scampi, yet it was. The waitress also forgot our soups, so they came out after our entrees. The wedding soup was very good. I would try the restaurant again, but I would definitely order a different entree. read more

We had a small celebration with a group of 9 and were so kindly accommodated. I unfortunately took no pictures. We ordered appetizers: pretzels, stuffed banana peppers and fried zucchini. All were delicious but the pretzels were truly something special. The honey mustard sauce that accompanied them may be the best honey mustard I've ever had. For entrees, our group had : Chicken Arabbiata, Cod and Baby Shrimp Scampi, Chicken Picatta, Chicken Marsala, and a Create Your Own Pasta (Penne + Tomato Basil Cream). We also had some children, so buttered noodles and a cheeseburger were in the mix. All entrees were delicious. I personally had the Cod and Baby Shrimp Scampi. The sauce was amazing. For the side salad, the homemade White French dressing was incredible. Service was friendly, fun and fast. Nicole was our server and she was very attentive to the entire group. Looking forward to our next dinner here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a casual yet delicious meal. This is a great stop for a date night or as a family. read more

We have been here several times over the past year or so and continue to try different items on the menu but they are all mediocre. I really don't understand all of the rave reviews. Heard this place had good food. We decided to try it since we were in the USC area. The food was very good. We started with the greens and bean. It was very flavorful and served nice and hot. We had a group of 9 meeting for a memorial luncheon. The service was so polite and accommodating. The ambience was quiet during mid week, but worked great for our group. I wanted to like this place a lot and I was expecting to, based upon what I had read. I didn't. This is the former Piccolina's Restaurant, but the bistro has a small fraction of the space that its predecessor did. Seating is crowded and cramped and the acoustics are poor; it is loud. There is so little room between tables that our server had to move when standing next to our table so that the people in the adjacent table could get out. For a restaurant with many entrees in the $20 to $25 range, I expected better than paper napkins, bread that is not served warm, butter served in tiny packets, and a ketchup bottle placed on the table. Our server was pleasant and kind, but too busy to spend much time with us. All of our food was brought by other members of the staff. Two entrees came out five minutes after the first one. The wedding soup and potato and carrot soup were nothing special. The entrees: fettucine alfredo, meatball bake, and burger, were okay and the portions of the pasta dishes were good. No one performed a quality check. I dined at Olive Garden the night before this meal and enjoyed an attractive environment, cloth napkins, an enormous amount of space between tables, warm, breadsticks just out of the oven, and a tremendous value of $13.99 for all of the pasta, soup, and breadsticks that I wanted. I am a "foodie". I dine at a large variety of restaurants, including fine Downtown Pittsburgh steakhouses, but I must say that given the choice between Olive Garden and the bistro, I would choose Olive Garden for many reasons. read more

This is my new favorite local place. I went here 2 times in one week I like it so well. The decor is bright and relaxed. The bar has beer on tap which is a big deal to me. The staff could not be more friendly or helpful. And the food was excellent every time (a total of 3) that I have gone there. The chicken piccata my husband had is unique and wonderful, he felt it was "legendary". I also enjoyed the Vesuvius pasta and the gnocchi with pot roast. The one time we went I was not really hungry, and I just had a salad and even it was exceptional. I have told my friends about it and look forward to visiting again. read more
