Great discovery. I will be back! I wish I knew about it…read moresooner. Had to bring 1/2 of my delicious sandwich home.

Rockwell's can be a bit pricey, but the food is honestly very worth every cent. The atmosphere is…read morea little antiquated, and reminds you of a 1960's trophy room, with all of the game on the walls and the old wallpaper. But, don't get me wrong--it has it's own vibe and we love it. Our go to here is the Apricot Chicken, one of the best things you'll ever taste. They usually have very good specials, and we've not had one thing we didn't love. If I had to give a negative, the only thing I would caution on is anything with the red sauce (like chicken parm, or things like that)--it's more of one of those acidic, tomato-y sauces, and it's not something I prefer. Some people love that style though, it's just not for me. I definitely suggest that you watch out for their Turkey Dinner special, they usually have it once a month. It's honestly amazing. Try their creme brulee, too, for dessert. YUMMMM. Don't skip out on their bread that you get with your dinners. Awesome home made bread with some type of awesome honey butter (or something) on top. YUM! They have the ABSOLUTE best French Onion Soup my family has ever had. And that is saying something--we like to think of ourselves as FOS connoisseurs. You cannot go here and not try it--it would be a mortal sin to miss out on it! Have always had good service, and we can't speak higher of everyone who works there. The host is always awesome, and does their best to get you in if they can. Highly recommend you getting a reservation if you plan on going, it's not terribly large, and it fills up.

If you're looking for a fancy place this isn't it. However, if you're looking for good food and…read moreservice this place is ideal. Stopped by for the first time for lunch and was very impressed. It's located at the golf course but is open to the public (no membership needed) You could literally smell the cleaning products as soon as you walked in the door which is always a plus in my book. We were greeted by a very nice woman from behind the bar who just happened to be our waitress as well. She seemed to be the only employee there bouncing back and forth from bartending to waitressing. She handled it very well. I was impressed with her quality of service and her patience with the bar crowd. I will mention that this place can get very loud depending on the bar patrons, not the best place for kids. The bar takes up a great deal of space with seating for people who want to dine wrapped around the bar. They do have a separate dining room area, but it was closed off while we were there. Which is completely understandable since there was just one person running the entire place. The menu had a pretty big selection and everything that we got there was delicious. I ordered the cheese steak with fries and thought it was very tasty. The meat was cooked perfectly and juicy instead of being over cooked, dry and crispy like other cheese steaks I've had in the past. We'll definitely be back!

Of course, I also wonder what chemicals are used on the course itself. Please make these known so we can assess any potential heath threats to our community.

We went to Station Brake Café on a Friday night with my best friend and her husband. I don't know…read moremuch about Wilmerding but my initial thoughts were the town was a little run down as was the restaurant. It was very confusing. The waitress was very nice, and from what I recall served our silverware on a silver tray lined with velvet... So there was an attempt to portray this upscale theme which reflected onto their menu and prices, but was so off the mark it was humorous. The menu was extensive and the items where overall on the pricy side. We opted to just get a sandwich since there entrees were in the $30.00 range and up. I thought to myself if I was going to spend that much on my meal I would eat somewhere else. I got the Bourbon Steak sandwich, which they claimed was filet mignon, they ask for a spice level, I belief I said 5. I made it a platter and added a salad and soup. The soup, a baked potato soup, was indeed indulging and delicious. I could've stopped there, should have maybe. The salad was obviously old. The tomatoes were shriveled and rotten, and my lettuce was wilted. I removed the bad parts and ate what I could. And although the waitress was very friendly, she wasn't really careful when setting plates and bowls down. On both my soup and salad her thumb was poking around the surface... Our sandwiches came out a little while later. Honestly mine was so spicy I couldn't taste much of it. Maybe this was my fault but I wish she would have explained the levels a bit, but again I didn't ask so I accept responsibility for that. The portion was a little on the small side for a $13.00 sandwich, and when you make it a platter add $4.00. So for almost $20.00 that's what you get here. This place is definitely different, I would probably go back if asked by my friend, but not by my own decision. We ended up having a good time and eventually made it into the bar area. Now I thought the restaurant side needed updating! Holy cow, they had reupholster chairs in a pink plaid that was rough to sit on and looked like my grandmother's couch in the 70's! And it was only select chairs that were donning this material. I guess once the others rip enough they will get this classy makeover too.

Service was a bit slow, but it was one woman taking orders, serving food and collecting plates on a…read moreFriday night. Aside from that, the food was fabulous. I ordered the Louisiana Blackened Chicken, roasted red beets with a touch of ginger and Stuffed Pepper Soup. My husband had a glass of red wine, rib-eye steak with sauteed mushrooms, a salad, and a baked potato. Both of our portions were huge. I was surprised my husband was able to finish his steak, but he said it was so delicious, he couldn't stop eating it. I took half my dinner home because we ordered Belgian Chocolate Mousse cake to take home. Everything was fresh, homemade and delicious. Just remember that they are a small restaurant with a small staff, so make reservations, have good company you can fall and laugh with as you drink your wine ( you can byob, which I'll do next time. $ 10 cork fee) you can sip before your meal arrives.

From the moment we walked in, I loved the ambience. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming and made us feel right at home. During our visit, I learned that it is a family owned restaurant, which made me appreciate it even more. They also have a sports bar right next door, which I thought was a nice addition. The food did not disappoint. I even had to ask if the family was from Italy because everything tasted so authentic. They told me they were not, but honestly I never would have guessed! The pizza was amazing. I am a huge fan of brick oven style pizza and this definitely hit the spot. The pasta was incredible, the steak was cooked exactly how I ordered it, and the wine paired perfectly with the meal. One of my good friends and I came here together, and I am so happy we decided to try it. It turned into one of those meals you keep thinking about long after you leave. Every time I am back in Pittsburgh, this will absolutely be one of the restaurants I make a point to visit. Thank you for such a memorable experience.
