Mike Raffo of All Access Tree Care responded quickly to my call. A friend who was very happy with his company referred him to us. We had a huge Italian Stone pine that was probably planted about 30 years ago. It was too close to our house, which has a very fragile tile roof. Another tree company kept it pruned back for over 25 years, but we became very concerned about damage to the house. In addition to the size problem, the tree had been invaded in recent years by an insect that chooses that particular type of pine. Treatments never solved the problem and the sap ended up as black mold on the deck underneath the tree. Our regular company wanted to keep pruning the tree, but gave us an estimate to remove it with the assistance of a crane company. They also told us for the first time that the tree was just over half grown. The crane person wanted to trim back a beautiful Chinese elm that had just been shaped again, remove some mature landscaping along the driveway, and requested that we sign a waiver of liability for any damage to our 2-year-old 400-foot long driveway and anything else that was damaged by the crane. Mike came over quickly and spent time figuring out how to access the tree that was not only overhanging part of the roof and the deck but also on the other side of mature landscaping en route to the driveway where the mulcher would be. He gave me an estimate that was much less than our former company, a copy of his insurance and license, and answered all my questions. I had a total of 5 estimates that were nowhere close to each other. Mike's was not the lowest, but was much lower than our former company. He prepared it after carefully considering what was necessary to do the work. Two other companies said the work was too complicated. We were concerned more with competence than cost. I signed his contract immediately. Mike was here on the first day to make sure everything was in place. His 5-man crew were here three days carefully lowering each cut branch to the ground using ropes and walking each one to the mulcher. They worked as a team to work around a large garden area, cut up some of the wood to leave for a neighbor, and clean up when they were done. It was amazing to watch them work together seamlessly doing a very complicated and dangerous job. They were also very friendly people who were a pleasure to have at our home. They cleaned up beautifully when the work was finished. The Chinese elm, landscaping, and driveway are undamaged and we are very grateful. Mike suggested leaving part of the trunk up to the top level of the deck. The bark is beautiful. My staghorn ferns still have a home hanging on the trunk. And we have a new tree company. read more

Fast and very competitive price. Sure got rid of our Brazilian pepper tree. One problem came up with a section of telephone pole that was buried just below the surface near the stump. Part of it got chewed up by the grinder. Mike sent someone out to remove the chipped wood. They even raked and smoothed the whole area to make it ready for planting.
