The contract requires refunds within 15 days of cancellation. That deadline passed without a refund. After multiple follow-ups and a formal written request referencing the contract, I received no response. I was ultimately forced to recover the deposit through my bank. After requesting my refund, I was labeled a "problem" customer rather than receiving a timely resolution. While the funds were eventually returned, the process required unnecessary escalation and significant effort.

The first company that came out bid $20,000 for screens only, and told us we could put plywood on the existing boards ourselves! Heartlands was the second company to come out. Larry Brost gave us a quote of a little over half of the first company's bid, and it included replacing the floorboards, installing screens, removing an outdoor staircase and installing two ceiling fans. My husband told me to cancel the third appointment because we found the company we were going with. We were so pleased with their work we asked them to do the same thing on our front porch a year later, and they did an excellent job on that as well. I cannot recommend them highly enough.

When I…read morerealized what they were actually going to do I spoke with Josh and told him it's crazy how much his estimate was. And that I'm being overcharged for the work. He gave me a long winded answer that included the fact that he had to rent a ladder for the job. Mind you he is a contractor. Are you kidding me? To make matters worse the work that they did at my townhome doesn't even work. And now I can't get ahold of them. They won't call me back. He is a total joke. Stay away from this person. DC did a good job on my property, but I was unhappy with his billing practices…read more I had a handful of odd jobs that needed to be completed. We agreed on a price (verbally) when he came out for the estimate, and said he'd come back out in a week. I should've asked for a contract. After day 1 he asked for 1/2 the payment which I was fine with, but then tacked on about $500 saying it was too hard to complete. After some haggling I agreed. This time I at least had him text me the amount. The following day when he asked for payment, he requested an amount hundreds of dollars more than agreed, assuming I'd forgotten, so I showed him the text after our verbal exchange. Get him to write a contract prior to work.

This business really does not deserve a star at all. First off, after this person came out and said…read moreI would get a bid in a week this didn't happen. I was given two start dates that were never fulfilled. I didn't get the bid contract until 3 1/2 weeks later. This company then attempted to over charge with added labor per his contract to 5 different areas in a very small laundry room (4×7'). Price to put up 4 pieces of wood on the wall from Target store $415.19 .00 price + labor. Labor for trim and panel $276.38 Labor for vinyl flooring + material that I already paid for. $744.54 room size w 7.125x9.08 Labor to install cabinets $566.25 3 cabinets totally $3,150.00 498.00 To paint the wall for this very small room. Thoroughly 5 cans of paint he wanted $2,750.00 This totally for this small room came out to be $10,172.99 and Jeremy Phillips at Strong Arm remodeling and construction, pun intended strong armed me for $2,086.50. I gave Jeremy half the money to start the job and when I called him the day before regarding my receipt and to question him about my contract he started asking me about a job that my husband did on the garage that I originally got a bid for him on which had absolutely nothing to do with my laundry room. However, with us being health care professionals we weren't home to have the job done on the garage anyway. We were both deployed for work. As with this guy, he never follownoed up and now he wants to tell me this is why he is charging me a restocking fee on a contract I never signed regarding my garage. Nevertheless, as for the work on my laundry room, that will be a DIY project too because business owners like Jeremy Phillips sheds a negative light amongst many businesses especially independents. Also, he treated me like I didn't have options and then he had the nerves to say several time he was trying to help us out while trying to over charge us. There is really something to be said about business owners that see the customer as wrong regardless of the of the third rate treatment they bestow upon the customer. I would highly recommend using a company other than Strong Arm for any home improvement or construction needs as per my terrible experience with such a lackluster and inconsiderate professionals if they can even be called such.
