Severe Quality Issues & Failure to Rectify…read more Project: Back patio and concrete sidewalk addition (2024) Contractor: Seth Tomlin (Tomlin's Home Services) I cannot recommend Tomlin's Home Services due to severe failures, poor workmanship, and a total lack of accountability. Despite being a polite individual, Seth's concrete work was substandard and resulted in a project that was both non-functional and aesthetically unacceptable. Primary Issues: Poor Grading & Drainage: The patio was not properly graded, leading to significant standing water. I raised concerns about the grading during the process multiple times, but they were ignored. Mechanical Failure: Incorrect materials were used for the sump pump drainage and base materials of the patio pad, causing water to discharge directly under the concrete pad and would have caused future structural instalbility of the pad (found when we tore the pad up to replace it two months later). I raised concerns about the option for these materials as well, and obviously it was also ignored. Substandard Finish: The project was left with breaks at the joints/edges, concrete splatter on my siding and brick, and a generally messy job site. Total Loss: The work was so poor that I had to hire a second contractor to completely tear out and redo the patio pad. I am still facing the cost of repairing the sidewalks. Resolution Failure: Over the last two years, I have provided Seth with extensive photo documentation and multiple opportunities to provide a refund and cover the corrective costs. While he initially agreed to a repayment in his words to avoid involving his insurance, he has failed to provide any reimbursement to date. The Bottom Line: This experience has cost me a significant amount of money in both the initial payment and the subsequent demolition/reconstruction. If you are looking for quality concrete work and a contractor who stands behind their mistakes, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

This company has had ample time to make good on a contractual breach here at Lake of The Ozarks…read more Before purchasing my home they were flipping, there was an issue with the garage door motors not operating, which they acknowledged. They installed a new motor on one door which didn't work and stated it needed to be connected to wifi when we get service. Turns out it wasn't WiFi - I called an overhead door company to get it working and the track was installed backwards and wired incorrectly. The overhead door company had to reconstruct, rewire, and brace the newly found broken door which wasn't brought up. It was close to $1000. I asked their realtor to reimburse me for the correction as it was on the sales contract, and the realtor said of course they will - he talked to EP Construction and they said they'll get a check out to me. They never sent it. Now the realtor is ignoring my emails as well as emails from my realtor in this transaction. Crooked company and the garage door was only one of many things. Could have been easier guys and I was patient - now you have a bad review. Keep the money - you're going to need it the way you do business.

He did one complete wall, living room ceiling, kitchen ceiling and a bedroom ceiling. Paul had an assistant for part of the day. They worked very clean and picked up after themselves. Everything was covered with a drop cloth. After they left I noticed a very very small spot that I didn't want to touch up myself, so the next day he came by and was out the door in 20 minutes and had it fixed. I was looking for a handyman…read more Sam Stein, the patriarch came to my house April 25, 2019, reviewed my needs, gave me a price and wrote up a contract. Sam is the head of this family business. He's 78 and has worked in this business his whole life. HE KNOWS A LOT OF PEOPLE . . . to get things done in the house -- and outside the house. The first contract was to deconstruct parts of the basement to make way for Woods Basement Systems to re-pier and anchor the house: the bar and the setee; install a new downspout for the second floor, so all water wasn't running in one direction; correct the gutter direction so the water flow was balanced between the two downspouts; rescreen the patio door (scratched to death by dogs, and hillbillied by me); replace the pull-chain light in the closet under the basement stairs; put new rubber lining on the French Door out to the deck; and replace the floodlight in the back yard. The second contract was May 3, 2019, to construct a French Drain, which required six guys in ONE day to dig, place and refill soil. Sam drew pictures, so I knew what was going on -- especially to make sure this was occurring on my property. Sam talked to my neighbor, and I did, too. SAM KNOWS PEOPLE!! The third contract was June 17, 2019, to remodel the hall bath on the second floor. I selected the cabinets at Lowe's with Helen Gregory. Sam's son, Andy, and I selected the countertop to match the marble I already had (rather recently) in the tub area. Andy did all the measuring for the cabinets. And I was not replacing the floor. White tile . . . why argue? Everything was moving smoothly until Woods Basement Systems said half of the front wall, including in the cedar closet, needed to come down to make way for the anchors. That changed things up a lot. And it changed all the prices, and it changed the timing. I was frantic. Nobody flinched -- just took it in stride. THESE THINGS HAPPEN!! A lot of work/improvement came to my house from Sam Stein. And much happiness to me. Throughout all of this, Sam would drop by almost every day to ensure things were moving along and moving appropriately to my liking and to his specifications. The hall bathroom remodel was finished in mid-December. It is gorgeous! And all of the other work was supremely performed. These are great people. Sam, his son Andy and son-in-law Rich (the major painter, stucco guy and trimmer) -- all did a fantastic job!!
