I can't say enough positive things about my stay at Sugar Beach Resort, #131. The ground-floor condo is just steps from the ocean, with a floor-to-ceiling sliding glass door that gives the space an open-air, oceanfront feel. The interior is beautifully updated with modern amenities, a fully stocked kitchen, and lovely Hawaiian décor. Even the bath towels were luxuriously soft! The host went above and beyond with a generous welcome basket of local Hawaiian treats--it's clear they truly enjoy hosting. The condo was very clean and communication from Ali'i Resort was excellent, with a simple check-in/check-out process. I appreciated the personalized welcome folder that included a list of beach rental options (e.g. SUP boards etc.) This was a 10/10 experience, and I can't wait to return to #131 next year! So very disappointed with Ali'i Resorts. They manage the condo above mine and over the past few years their poor maintenance has caused three leaks from their master bath into mine. This last one was the worst with mold resulting. I was so happy I was here to take care of it and did not have Guests. The other times there had been a leak they "added" a wax ring to the toilet. There were three wax rings and a faulty flange. Had Ali'i done the repairs correctly the two previous leaks, this leak would not have occurred. Thankfully, the Royal Mauian Building manager oversaw what they were doing and insisted they do it correctly. I had someone come out and identify where there was moisture and mold, had it all taken out, treated and repaired. Neither Ali'i nor the owner above us would share in the cost even though it was through their negligent maintenance and previous repairs. I am disappointed with both Ali-i and the "not so good"neighbors above us. read more

Finished staying at the Royal Mauian in west Kihei. We have vacationed there every time we return to Maui and I wouldn't stay anywhere else. The condo is serviced by Ali'i Resorts and we couldn't be more happier. The staff provided all my needs in total preparation for our stay. Making Sure we arrived safely and keeping contact with us upon arrival. I tell you coming to a super clean condo and filled with plenty of everything including plenty of towels and bathroom items. Fully equipped kitchen with a very nice welcome bag makes a long plane trip fade away. The staff is 5 star awesome and there always friendly over the phone and helpful answering all my questions. It's so reassuring knowing AR will take care of my reservations and make my vacation stay a 5 Star great experience. Thank you for your Sevices and hope to see you soon. Cheers read more

DO NOT rent from this company. We just got completely ripped off! We scheduled a vacation in Kihei for September. Then the Lahaina fire happened.... We were so torn as to what to do. Knowing we were out of the cancellation period, we toyed with the idea of still going since we weren't going to west Maui. Upon communication with the resort we were gaslighted completely and I sent an email two days after the fire broke out with very real concerns about coming and we were told in a return email 'the weather is beautiful here in Kihei. We can't wait to welcome your Ohana'. Our concerns were never regarded and we were told that since the governor said only west Maui was closed, it would be on our dime if we cancelled. Today, after all of our excursions canceled activities, we decided to ask about postponement and again we were gaslighted. No straight answer for anything. So we decided to go to Oahu instead. It's SO disrespectful that we were gaslighted so, and that they obviously care only about money and not the people who are without homes and jobs. I blame myself for not getting insurance on our accommodations but I also think this is the lowest form of humanity. When your neighboring town burns down and you employee tourists to come anyway despite shortages, despite their pain, despite the lack of resources- come lay on our beach and take away from someone who has lost everything. have been home from Maui and my stay at Kihei surfside unit #503 for about 3 weeks now. Rented via Ali'i resorts, llc THere were a few things that my stay left to be desired unfortunately.   To start: The street closures on South Kihei road, in several places at a time, made it impossible to get around.  I gave up at times trying to get to where I needed to get to- and had to cancel some appointments due to it. I think it would have been fair if Ali'i resorts had given me a heads up on this, since apparently (according to their road closure website) you have known this since February of last year (2022)  You should have given me the information at the time of reservation and you should have given me the option to not go during the time when all these road closures are still in affect.  Also, the building across the parking lot from Kihei Surfside is remodeling of  a brand new restaurant, and the trailer in which they threw all their junk was straight across from unit #503.  This made it impossible to rest or take a nap during the day.  Again, Ali'i resorts should have notified me of this prior to me making the reservations.   The fan in the front room has a noise/ hum SO loud , in order to keep my sanity I had to turn it off more then turning it on- in spite of the heat and no air conditioning..  (and I am hard of hearing and it was still way too loud)  THe unit was dusty. Very dusty.  I dusted and cleaned the bar stools underneath, because while sitting on the couch and seeing it , it was gross..  Since I was having friends come over for lunch I did not want to be embarrassed.  I started dusting the coffee tables underneath as well and finally just said "forget it"   As you know I sent you pictures of the broken glass on top of the coffee table upon my arrival.   The bed frame in the unit is awful.  THe legs of it stick out from the bed too much, so it is impossible to walk by it without seriously stubbing one's toes .  The mattress is sunken in and too soft.  THe balcony along the walkway by the front door , the whole length of the building was all ripped up and an ugly site. Who wants to stay in a place so torn up and ugly?  The whole time I was there nobody worked on it, so fixing it  is, or was, certainly not an immediate concern .  Every afternoon the lovely tradewinds come up.  It would blow the curtains in the bedroom windows and the curtains were filthy dirty, too gross to want to touch.  I will leave you a picture here as well. Some of these things I mentioned to you when I was there and you said you would discuss it .  Nothing else was done about it. I am a previous owner of a Kihei Surfside unit.  Normally the units are cleaner than this. We stayed at Kealia #102 that is managed by Ali'i. We also stayed in another unit (a group of us) managed by another company. I reviewed those units on their sites I rented from. This review is for the management company. I can't begin to compare the other management to this one. By FAR the better of the two. The two biggest things I'm grateful for is communication and flexibility. At any point in my 6 months of booking-arrival-departure, I could get a hold of them. And during these times of uncertainty with covid, they always gave me options to postpone our trip. The other company gave neither... without going in to details.... A nightmare! read more

We have a reservation for the 1st week of Sep in Maui. We have been begging Sam and his team there to refund our money or give us credit in light of the disaster that has taken place. Yet they are forcing us to come and saying everything is great and biz as usual in Maui. We even offered to donate a night of our stay to the people left homeless by the disaster, he did not take me up on my offer. These guys care only about money and not helping anyone, not to mention forcing us to come to Maui and add additional strain on resources needed for the homeless and recovery workers coming from out of state. Please consider booking through VRBO and Airbnb as they are refunding no questions asked or find another place to rent. Makena Surf C-103 We stayed in this exact unit 12-years ago, and returned because of the incredible location. The good:Location - this is the most incredible location you could ever imagine, The condo development itself is incredibly high-quality, very well maintained, manicured public spaces and pools. It just feels very private and very exclusive. The view of the beach and ocean from the lanai, kitchen, and living room is amazing. The "meh" part of the review: I mentioned we stayed in the same unit 12-years ago.The unit shows 12-years worth of use.Same bed linens (time for a change). The master/King bed mattress has a pretty good crater in the middle of the mattress (showing it's age) that requires a bit of acrobatics to get out of in the morning (gravity is not a friend in this situation). Bedrooms are dark and could use better lighting. The ice maker in the fridge does not work. TV's are older, smaller, non-HD video and pretty much not worth watching. I have family staying a couple units away in Makena Surg C-106 paying basically the same price (and if you are considering this, you know that we are talking very high, premium prices for these units). In comparison, the other unit, C-106, similarly priced, is a night and day contrast. Ultra luxe furnishing, decoration, state of the art multimedia, TV's, smart devices, full size HE washer/dryer, original art work, etc., etc. I only mention this because they are basically the same nightly price through Ali'i. Unfortunately the really, really BAD part of this trip is that the unit directly overhead is having major construction/renovation happening. We received a sorry, not sorry communication from Ali'i Resorts shortly before arriving, warning us of the construction (way past the point at which we could do anything about making a change) so we are stuck. Yeah, I know construction needs to happen from time to time, but when I'm paying rock-star money every night to rent a condo - sorry no bueno with me. For this reason I do not recommend using Ali'i Resorts Maui or staying or in C-103 unless improvements have been made here to bring it on par with other units in this development, and you can be assured in writing that massively disruptive, loud construction is not constantly interrupting your vacation. read more

Unit 506 Royal Mauian 2br/2ba. Problems with 506: 1. Appliances are broken 2. Soiled Bench cushions instead of chair cushions on tacky lanai furniture 3. Poorly equipped kitchen -- no baking pans, baking sheet, griddle, etc 4. Salad spinner broken 5. Two, not three, air conditioning units as presented at checkin by Scott. And on and on and on. We are very very disappointed. I'm stunned that any owner can expect to rent this place at the premium price charged. $7000 for 2 weeks If I wouldn't be spoiling our families vacation even more than this sub-standard accommodation has already done, I would pack up and go home. read more

We rented a property recently that is managed by this firm. They did a terrible job from beginning to end. After having the full rental price charged to my cc, when we arrived on island they sent a txt that I needed to confirm my cc. The link generated a warning that it was an unsafe website so we had to drive to their office to confirm our cc. I have never had to do this process in the 30 years I have been traveling to Maui but I have never used Alii Resorts either. When we arrived there was a wad of hair in the shower drain that we had to text Alii Resorts to remove. Next Alii Resorts says they will call between 9-11am the next day to make sure everything is ok and if we have any questions. We never received that call. cabinets are locked. The secondary bathtub fills when you take a shower due to the poor drainage and is missing the drain stop so the tub feature is unusable Of the four beach chairs provided two are broken The cooler was broken upon arrival The unit was not cleaned very well and had damp towels left in the dryer There was no bedding in the unit for the sofa sleeper. read more

Great service from Ali'i! They offer rental car service too (WikiWiki Rental) with easy pick up/drop off right at airport parking! No shuttle, no overcrowded rental counters. Just a text with parking spot #. Ahhh...great start to a 2 week stay at Makena Surf B304. A friendly greeting at the unit to go over all the goodies was much appreciated. This unit was great for the two of us! We didn't need the 2nd bedroom this visit but enjoyed all the other amenities this unit had to offer. The view was incomparable! Cleaning service was just right. I did bring our own laundry pods, but they supplied about 8; also supplied all paper products, dishwasher pods and Dawn. The unit had drink cooler, beach chairs and umbrella to take to the beach which was just a few steps away. We will return to Makena Surf via Ali'i Resorts! Mahalo nui loa!! read more

While I booked my condo stay right thru the owner since I know him, he made all the reservations with Ali'i for me. When i got the reservation there were some instructions on calling Ali'i with some travel info. Kai answered the phone was very polite and talkative asking if I had anything planned while I was here. He let me know to call when I was leaving the car rental place and someone would meet me here at the condo. Michelle greeted me as I arrived and showed me around and made sure I didn't have any questions before she left. I got a call the following morning to make sure everything was to my satisfaction and even to apologize for one of the bathroom lights being out and offering to come immediately fix it. I told them not to worry and just to fix it when my stay was over. Everyone has been great to deal with and the views this place has is absolutely beautiful and it has been very relaxing. I will definitely stay here again. read more

We made a reservation months in advance for a stay in one of the condos they represent. Unfortunately we did not buy trip insurance. We had an unexpected death in the family and were only going to be able to use 2 days. We noticed that the 2 days before our stay were available so we hoped we could just switch our dates up by 2 days. There was no way they could rent out the condo for those two days. We would still pay for 7 days but we would leave after 5 giving them the opportunity to possibly rent out the condo for 5 days even though we were paying for days they could possibly rent giving them double income. At the very least it cost them nothing to do the switch for us and at best they would make more money, but they absolutely refused to do it. Just horrible. read more

My friend and I booked a week's stay at the Kihei Surfside #205 in late Sept. of this year (2022). Our decision was based on the picture shown on the website. I have never stayed in a dirtier place. The bottoms of our feet turned black walking on the floor. Besides in need of a good paint job, the furniture was not what was shown in the pic on line for that unit. Everything just felt dirty. When Nolan Aguinaldo from Ali'i Resorts called to see how things were going, we told him and he appeared at our door within minutes carrying a clipboard. He proceeded to take copious notes as we did a walk-thru. He gave us two options (1) another unit or (2) full refund. We opted full refund. He returned the $1600 to my friend's cc, but refused to return almost $1000 back to me which were all the fees and taxes Hawaii charges resort guests. We checked in at another resort on the same beach and were charged the same fees and taxes there. If the fees and taxes on the first place were not refunded, where did they go. Makes no sense to send to the state for nights unused. Hmmmm. . . .???? I refuse to give up until I am given a reasonable explanation. I don't think my request is unreasonable. read more

Ali'i resorts provided me with the best customer service I think I have ever experienced. We were staying at the Wailea Elua Villages for a week while we got married there. I worked with three individual people who made this experience absolutely wonderful: Booking--Raechelle was the woman I spoke with to book our stay. She was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful. We were trying to pinch pennies and I asked her about reducing the daily maid service to maid service only once during our stay. She was able to make this happen very quickly and reduce our price. She was extremely pleasant and willing to go above and beyond to accomodate us. Checkin/Checkout--Upon checkin we met with Kai in our room at the Elua Villages. He was very outgoing, showed us all of the bells and whistles of our unit. He even called once towards the end of our stay to make sure everything was going okay and if we needed any assistance checking out. Follow-Up--Now this I was absolutely not expecting! I received an email from Carnie asking if we had planned to come back in April 2013 to stay in the same unit as they like to make sure return visitors get first priority. They had another customer inquiring about the same dates and she wanted to check with us first. I greatly appreciated this as this date will be our 1st wedding anniversary. Unfortunately, we weren't ready to plan our anniversary yet so we told Carnie to go ahead and offer it to her customers. However, I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY that they even offered. Unit #307 at the Elua Villages was EXTREMELY clean and spacious. It was one of the nicer units in the complex and we absolutely loved it. There were 4 people staying in the unit and it was the perfect amount of space. NOT cramped at all. There were absolutely no bugs (or any dirt for that matter) in the unit. Like I said, I was extremely impressed with Ali'i Resorts, I would absolutely go with them again when I am vacationing in Maui in the future! read more

The proprieties have been perfect for us and the piece of mind I get from working with a reputable & personable company makes it easier to book from afar. When we landed at the airport they gave us a number to call to let them know we landed. When we arrived at our condo at Sugar Beach Resort they had someone in the unit to greet us and go over all the amenities and answer any questions we had. She also helped us schedule an in room massage for later in the week. They called half way through our stay to check on us and ensure everything was satisfactory and also gave us late checkout for free. Stayed in Menehune Shores #218 last two weeks of May 2018. I cannot say enough good things about this company!! Ali'i means royalty in Hawaiian and that is how they make you feel. We corresponded with multiple employees so I wont name any as I do not want to forget someone but they were ALL 1st class! From the moment you check in (really from the moment you book with them) to the point you check out you feel welcomed by them. We were there to celebrate our daughter's high school graduation and our anniversary. We were personally greeted with a special gift and card at check in. Ali'i checked in with us a couple of times during our stay to be sure everything was as we expected. During our stay the fire detector started beeping low battery and they came out on Memorial day with a battery within the hour along with fixing a few other minor items such as an out light bulb in the unit. Glad I found this company to book through and will certainly use them again for future trips to Maui. The Menehune Shores #218 unit itself was absolutely wonderful. Plenty of space for our party of 7, Phenomenal views right from the lanai (balcony), great location as a base camp as Kehei is fairly central to everything we wanted to do while not being in the middle of all the crowds. The unit was clean, comfortable, and has most everything you would need in terms of kitchen, beach towels, beach chairs, cooler, etc. Made it nice not to have to bring, rent or buy these items. We loved the Kehei side of the island as there is pretty much always a breeze blowing and it is way less crowded than the resort areas. The grounds are super well maintained. They clean all the grills regularly, the grassy area looks fake as the grass is so well kept. The pool and area around it is kept very clean and there is shuffleboard as well. Note: This is not your resort with huge pools, waterfalls, etc. The pool is a simple pool with ample chairs around it for tanning and that is what we like...quiet and not crowded. The ancient fish pond (the rock wall you see in the pictures is actually an ancient fish pond) right outside the complex is a great place for kids to swim as it is sandy and shallow and there are sea turtles regularly that sun themselves on rocks. The beach area to the side of the complex is great for swimming and boogie boarding and to the other side is a long coral beach that is great for morning or evening strolls. read more

We originally booked out 21st anniversary with a VRBO managed by them prior to COVID and had every intention on traveling until the pandemic hit. I am a RN and aware of the dangers of the virus. I am comfortable traveling but do not want to visit Hawaii right now due to many closures of restaurants and various restrictions. I reached out to the resort to request a refund with full intention on booking after there is a severe reduction in COVID cases and the reopening of Hawaii. They told me that they would retain $200 as a handling fee. WHAT DID THEY HANDLE? I voiced my concern in a polite manner and they stated that they would send me the refund and email me when it was on its way. Well, they didn't email and sent the refund but kept $200 anyways! They are ripping off people during these difficult times for no reason. I will be traveling to Hawaii but I will NOT BE USING ALI'I RESORTS TO BOOK MY STAY. As a loyal repeat customer of Ali'i resorts for the past many years I have been completely let down by their lack of corporate responsibility in the context of this worldwide pandemic. I am left devastated by Ali'I's refusal to provide me a full refund on my reservation for a unit I have been booking for a number of years. I am not an American citizen and have no way to travel to Maui due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, and Ali'i has refused to accommodate me by showing any sort of decency. At a time when the airlines are providing full refunds and every other corporation, I have dealt with has reduced their expectations due to the unprecedented crisis of this pandemic, Ali'i has failed its customers. Ali'i resorts has turned its back on upholding any sort of corporate responsibility to accommodate a Canadian repeat customer. There is no reason they should be denying full refunds at this time due to the unavoidable barriers to travelling the pandemic has created. As a token Ali'i offered a minimal discount on our deposit, however this is clearly unjust and I had to fight for even this minimal. Ali'i has lost a loyal customer for years due to this indecency which has left our family beyond disappointed. read more

These guys suck. Do not rent from them. We rented a unit at Makena Surf from them. DVD player was quoted as such but was really blu ray. DVD player required two change outs. Internet speed was glacial. Washer dryer combo was so old, all numeric notations were wore off. No fry pan in unit larger than 6 inches and one was flaking Teflon which is dangerous. Their offer of 5 % discount was an insult to what we had to encounter. Do not rent from Alii Resorts under any circumstances. They should be out of business. Our unit had bed bugs, which we didn't discover until the end, but that's not the reason for the 2-star review. The reason for the poor review, is that it took 2 phone calls and 2 emails to get a response. We had to have ALL of our belongings treated. Their (eventual) response? "Mahalo for letting us know". No empathy ("so sorry this happened to you!"), no token compensation, nothing. The reason they get 2 stars instead of 1 is that at least they followed up to let me know that they confirmed the infestation. Kudos to them for that. I guess. read more

Our family of 7 recently stayed (January 2017) in unit 102 at the Royal Mauian.  I would highly recommend NOT staying in unit 102.  It is in some serious need of deep cleaning.  There was a known ant problem which the property manager did not advise us of.  The ants were crawling on the kitchen floor and countertops, bathroom floors and shower walls and ceilings.  The property manager did provide ant traps which did NOT help one bit.  We were also visited by a couple of cockroaches.  The showers have black mold along the windows and on the shower door and curtain (which was replaced on our complaint but nothing else was cleaned).  Consider wearing flip flops while showering. The floors could not have been cleaned in between our family checking in and the previous guests checking out.  The tile floor was noticeably dirty and the bedroom carpets are also dirty and stained.  Keep your shoes on at all times indoors! The washer and dryer is in a closet which is littered with dust balls and lint from the dryer.  The door vent to the closet and the frame was also covered with dust.  The washer even had items from the previous guests still in it.  The ceiling fans and vents are dirty and have black marks on the walls by them.  A light fixture was missing a piece and bulb.  The cupboards were stocked with stained, cracked and dirty dishes.  We are certain the cleaning staff could not have checked on this before the suite was ready our check in.  In the closet, for your use are broken beach chairs.  If you want toys for the beach, you should buy or bring your own.  Toys are not provided. Unit 102 is filthy.  Value for the price paid is definitely thumbs down.  After arriving home, we spoke with the property manager who indicated nothing could be done to compensate for the poor quality stay and the customer service demonstrated was beyond brutal.  Constantly being interrupted while trying to voice the issues and bring the concerns forward to the property manager and owner were fallen on deaf ears. Unwilling to listen and assist. Stay somewhere else!  The one thing we did right by booking the Royal Mauian was the location, it`s located right on Kamaole Beach 1, the beach was great and we saw many turtles and even some whales from the shore.  The Royal Mauian is also located to many great restaurants when you don`t feel like cooking and stores to search for those sought after Hawaiian souvenirs.    Overall - WAY BELOW EXPECTATIONS. read more

I have used Alii Resorts before and was completely satisfied with the service and accommodations. However I am very disappointed on my last booking in Kihei, Maui - March 2015. They rented me a 2 bedroom ocean front unit that was expensive and looked great in the pictures however... upon arrival - the unit is in dire need of renos. The walls and ceiling are literally peeling away - falling apart. It was kind of gross. The doors to lanai are extremely difficult to open and close. The price for this unit is way out of line and Alii Resorts should either discount it or get it out of their pool of units. I will think twice about using them a third time. read more

This place is NOT service oriented and the units that they rent are not clean and they have bugs. I would not recommend this rental agency to anyone. The staff is not friendly, in fact, one young lady made a pass at my husband. I would not rent anything from these people again. read more

All I can say is Wow! First of all, do yourself a favor and never stay at the Kamole Nalu in the summer. Regardless of when you stay, be sure to be as far away from the road as possible. Although the view is still good, the road noise is horrible. These units do not have A/C and it is very uncomfortable!This was our second time staying and the last time we stayed in April and never needed A/C. We also didn't notice the road noise due to location. When I booked our second stay I had made the comment when selecting our unit that since they all have a great view, we would just take the least expensive unit. After our first night was horrible due to heat and constant road noise, I called Alii Resorts to express my concerns. The very rude person that I spoke with said, " I see that money was an issue for you , which is why you got the cheapest unit." She did absolutely nothing to try and make our stay better and even said that I should have known what to expect since we had been there before. When we stayed before we had a very nice and quiet updated unit. #601 is very old with a ceiling fan that didn't work, several outlets didn't work, the beds were super uncomfortable and the heat and road noise terrible. The property manager was sweet and came by to bring us extra fans, but Alii Resorts representative was rude, condescending and had horrible customer service. I got off the phone feeling insulted. The pics on the website of the room are very misleading. We were very disappointed with the unit and the customer service. We will never stay at an Alii Resort again and will be sure to advise everyone else to do the same. read more

We have traveled to Maui and stayed at condos more than a dozen times and our experience with Alii Resorts was the best by far. Not only did they provide someone to greet us and answer our questions when we arrived but the unit itself was in pristine shape. The housekeeping schedule of towel changes and light tidying up daily with a change of bed linens and more extensive cleaning every three days was perfect for us. And the housekeepers were competent and friendly -- and really seemed to want to make the unit as nice as possible for us. The office staff was great to deal with and we especially appreciated the phone call at the end of our stay, asking for feedback and reaffirming to us that all we needed to do before leaving was to shut of the AC, pack our belongings, and leave the keys on the counter. The rental fees were fair and reasonable as well, much better than other agencies considering the level of service and the well-kept nature of the units.
