We ordered three iced drinks, dirty chai, dudh wali and malai wali. I did not mind the long waiting time for my drinks but I did mind if the person who ordered after me get their drinks first. Management please check the training of your staff, first come first serve! The drinks were good but the service need improvement. read more

Really good! Stopped in yesterday at an odd time - around 4pm - to order early dinner take-out. We were hoping to try the masala fries - but they didn't have any fries. So, we ordered the Channa Papree as the appetizer. Dinner choices were the chicken tikka masala bowl and the chicken bowl...both are served with salads. We were told that it takes about 25 minutes to prepare the tikka masala (in case we didn't have the time to wait). We did! It was Saturday and we grabbed a strawberry lassi to enjoy while we waited. There is a nice seating area near the entrance so we hung out in the big armchairs. The lassi was good; it could have been blended more as most lassi concoctions that I've had are very creamy with just the right amount of yogurt tang....this one was "ice-chunky". But it was still tasty. As promised, the meals were ready to go in about 25 minutes. They traveled well and were still hot when we got home. I really enjoyed the channa appetizer; lots of different flavor layers throughout with just a subtle hint of spice. I tasted the chicken tikka masala; well spiced cubed chicken over basmati rice (same rice that I had with my chicken bowl). Some of the chicken pieces were really big and the portion was definitely generous. My sliced chicken was also really good - different flavor profile from the tikka. Since the salad is served in the same container, it gets pretty warm....but it saves having a separate to-go box for a small salad. They also have an entire rolled ice cream selection - plus chai-inspired hot drinks and other desserts available. I wanted to try the naan and asked if we could order a side of it. Unfortunately, they still considered it "lunch" time and couldn't sell me a piece or two of naan. I found that a little weird, but I chalk it up to being a fairly new business. Plus, the girls that were working in the front - I'm guessing - are not related to the owners. Friendly and competent enough, but always embrace an opportunity to upsell! I'll be sure to check this place out again soon. read more

The owner is the sweetest person - it felt like home after traveling and being out all day. The chai is their specialty (I had the regular and Kashmiri chai) and the potato paratha was exactly how I wanted it to be! ALSO there's so many board games, even multiples of the same, you'll end up staying here for hours! read more

It's fine. Just fine. It's not bad. It's not amazing. The food is made to order. I guess it's OK. The place is weirdly lit. There are semi-comfortable chairs around utilitarian tables. They're fine. I suppose you could take kids here. You order at the counter, pay first, and then go find a place to sit. In about 15-20 minutes they bring your food to the table. The drinks (Gatorade, iced tea) are in a cooler next to the register. They ask for the tip before they bring your food, and no one checks on you to see if you need anything or if you liked it. It's fine though. Just fine. You can leave your plate on the table when you leave. It's like a takeout place but they let you eat it inside if you're so inclined. The rice tasted and had the consistency of clumpy Uncle Ben's 90-second bag rice. It's fine. Just fine. The chicken in the butter chicken dinner was over cooked and dry, but not bad. The sauce was delicious but the rest of the dish..... meh. It's fine. Just fine. It's not expensive: $12-16 for a dish of food. Here's the deal: go here. You will not be amazed at the quality, the service, the ambience, the decor, the staff.... But DO try it. You might say "Turns out I kinda like Glens Falls' boring interpretation of Indian food". Don't go here for a first date or with picky kids. Don't go here with a large group. Just go with one or two other people to TRY it. You'll be fine. Just fine. read more

Ho hum food. Order at counter, pick up your food. Limited menu - nothing I or my family had was seasoned well.

Their cheese naan was stale and had barely a scraping of cream cheese in it - which is not as it was advertised on the menu. The garlic naan was also stale and had no flavor. The chicken Tikka and butter chicken dishes looked and tasted identical. I'm not sure how you mess up basic things like that to such a huge degree, but it's pretty disappointing. read more

fantastic rolled ice cream! very clean and friendly staff. however, after we got our ice cream we weren't sure how to pay. there was a huge line for the register and we were not told if we had to wait in it to pay for dessert we already had. overall a good first experience! read more

Well it is your problem now. I have worked it restaurant with door dash the order doesn't just pop up after you order it. The price is not wroth the size you get. If I could give them no stars I would. read more

I was a big fan of Alif Cafe when it opened and frequented it numerous times, always bringing friends and family. The owner greeted us and the food was unique, consistent and flavorful - a real breath of fresh air for Glens Falls. Sometime this year - 2023 - the menu changed. I don't know when or why because the owner was not present and the staff didn't know anything. My wife and I ate in off of the new scaled down menu and were underwhelmed. The food was fair, with little flavor and portions were quite small. Still, we kept the faith and in July we placed a very large to go order for a special occasion. I'm sorry to report that the food received by our party of 10 was received poorly by all. Falafel were like cardboard, barely edible, and the best of the dishes - the Palak Paneer - was bland and watery, mostly rice with very little spinach. I don't know what happened here, but it's extremely disappointing and for Glens Falls, a real missed opportunity. read more

It was an ok experience .. had some food and masala chai. Was a lil expensive but atleast we got some Desi food and drink. Chai had a lil more masala.. wasn't the same as in NJ or Edison, but ok for the location . Parking is a problem in peak seasons.. liked the overal visit though .. read more

Great espresso! Had it on 2 occasions when I was here vacationing. First day the espresso was 5 star second day 4 star. Still very good but not as much flavor, could have been a variation in the process but overall delicious and the customer service was great. They also have hand rolled ice cream! A definite must try. It's located on the right side of the street across from the steam boat. read more

Recently had lunch at the Glens Falls location. It was alright. Took about fifteen minutes to be prepared despite being the only customer. I ordered the Chicken bowl and I was a little disappointed by the price. It came out to about 14 dollars for some dry spiced chicken, white rice, and iceberg lettuce salad. To be honest, you could cook that as an entire meal for a family with that price. Doesn't do much for the "streetfood" schtick when you're charging that. I'm glad this place is here in Glens Falls, but I think they should consider lowering the prices. Maybe adding some nice fresh veggies and a sauce on top. read more

Good but not worth the wait. I came in here and there were only two people ahead of me, but it took 15 minutes before I was even asked for my order. I got the mocha wali iced and it was just ok - there wasn't enough ice in it so it was more like a room temperature latte. The staff was really nice, just seemingly too preoccupied. I watched one of the kids pour heavy cream into what I think was an ice cream maker for about 10 minutes while I stood there waiting for my order to be taken. The coffee itself was pretty good I liked how the mocha wasn't too sweet either. Good location for those walking along the water. read more

Our first time eating here- the food is absolutely amazing. Both of us were blown away by the quality of every component- especially the salad. Totally fresh and delicious vegetables in the dead of winter. Every single component of our meals was incredibly flavorful. Tasted flavors I've never had before. One of our new favorite places. We will be back often. read more

Pleasantly surprised to stumble upon this pakistani based cafe right next to lake George. The owner was very humble, and had set up the place in the cutest way possible- decorating with the Pakistani flag and traditional music playing. They have a rolled ice cream counter, and stuffed paratha (fries flatbread) counter. But the one attracting us the most was obviously the chai- the masala chai was the best one could ask for the area- pretty close to home actually. It's quite a popular spot with a lot of foot traffic. Do not miss if you're in the area! read more

What a gem of a spot! They have easy takeaway Indian street food - I had the chicken bowl which turned out to be butter clicked, rice and salad and was great and my son got the homemade Ice cream which was super delish. The folks that work here are a family and all super sweet. I highly recommend this spot for super special ice cream made while you wait or a nice bit of Indian street food. All yummy! read more

I'm visiting family and they always go out of their way to find places with vegan options for me- I was pleasantly surprised with Alif Cafe! First of all, the moment you walk inside it smells absolutely delicious in there. It's a wonderful little restaurant/cafe with games available for patrons, and the people working there are so so nice. They were helpful with my questions about what was vegan or not, and my parents and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The chef even went out of his way to create a little personalized vegan dessert for me since my folks got ice cream and I didn't think I'd have an option for my sweet tooth lol. I highly recommend this establishment vegan or not, you won't be disappointed! I'll be back next time I visit for sure! read more

I've been here three time now, and each time they have provided fresh, tasty food. I'm not a Pakistani food connoisseur, but what're they're doing in the kitchen is great. It's simple, but delicious. And, each time I've been greeted by friendly staff or the owner. If you're looking for something different than the usual burger, give this place a try. read more

Fresh wonderful food. Flavorful, but not over spiced perfect portion size also, I have a dairy allergy which the establishment was conscious of, and took special care to oblige. Great decor and atmosphere for our solitary dining experience. Unfortunately, the dinner food was a disappointment. We had the chicken Marsala and Butter chicken bowls, which were both underseasoned and served over cold rice. The naan was served cold, which just makes it a hard tasteless bread. The plus side of the meal was the chicken was very tender and the salad was excellent. My chai was also not full of spices. The rolled strawberry ice cream was a hit. We were the only customers there and yet there were a few tables that had not been bussed and the floors needed a good brushing. We had to ask for cutlery and a napkin after we were served our dinner. I had such high hopes for our dining experience but was sadly disappointed. read more

This place was very cute and staff is very friendly so I had high hopes the food and drink would be just as good. Unfortunately, it was subpar-- the masala chai tasted like normal black tea with milk. The samosa chaat was not anything like what samosa chaat is supposed to be like. The two small samosas tasted like over baked dry ones you might find in a supermarket. There was barely any yogurt, just chickpeas with a whole lot of garam masala. Barely palatable and gave my husband some stomach trouble. Overpriced as well :( read more

I am a Pakistani by origin and authentic Pakistani food is extremely tasty . This place by no means represents Pakistani cuisine at all . The rice with kebabs was tasteless and the naan bread was not made properly . I could yeast in the bread. This is the worst food that I have ever tasted in my life . I am giving one star because the chai was good . read more

This place was very nice. Overpriced for what you get - - - the portions weren't the best sized. It's definitely in a tourist trap part of Lake George - all about the tourism. The day we went was a sunday afternoon after the steamboat tour on Lake George. We got rolled ice cream - which was amazing. The guy who did our ice cream was Shah - i believe - very friendly, very personable. engaged our kids in conversation. The rolled ice cream portion of the store was busy but they kept the line moving. pricing is on par for what you're getting - the novelty of ice cream rolled out in front of you. we also ordered a strawberry/banana lassi (smoothie) and a mango lassi. the strawberry one tasted like something i would make at home - but mine was better. the mango was warm when it came out - no chill to it at all!!! we also had chicken stuffed paratha, which was AMAZING!!! those 3 items were around $24 --- i mean, the value wasn't really there but hey you're on vacation, in a tourist trap... staff was definitely friendly and although service on the food side was quite slow and inefficient, it's worth a visit.. read more

Stopped in after a stroll along the boardwalk. It was such a fun and delicious experience! Our kiddos loved watching the process. Beautiful location right across the lake. Lovely chai bar and icecream plus Pakistani food!

If you like ice cream and have never tried rolled ice cream from Alif Cafe, run, don't walk to get yourself some. I'm telling you it is an ethereal experience!!! Totally different than a big scoop of creamy ice cream that you're used to, but tastes better and more pure than anything you can buy at a store. Try vanilla/strawberry with coconut and/or Nutella. To die for. Big huge serving and takes a bit to make it but you can watch while it's made. They pour the fresh creamy mixture right on the large silver platter frozen cold with liquid nitrogen. Mix it all up in front of your eyes. Yes, it really is rolled up in the end, and looks nothing like what you are used to for ice cream, but after that first bite you'll be instantly transported to heaven. The food here is good too, but just had the ice cream today, so that's my focus. I will say the service is slow, mostly because everything is made to order, but truly worth the wait. read more
