I had a groupon deal for a gel manicure and I honestly didn't have any high expectations as most places usually are mediocre. The salon is not hard to find imo but it can easily be missed due to improper display of its name. Parking can be a struggle since majority of the streets are permit only. Metered parking is available but also hard to find. There's few streets by the stadium with free non permit parking. Definitely not a pretty place and it surely gives a really old school feel. Soon as you open the door there's a bunch of chairs for hair cutting services, walk straight to the back as you go up the stairs find some hair washing stations, and behind that is the small nail salon. Honestly the place needs some organization as it lacks character. There's papers and stuff scattered around everywhere. I was looking at the pedicure chairs they looked dirty and I probably would need use lysol before using them. My OCD was kicking in real bad when I walked in as I was tempted to literally start cleaning this place up!!! There's two manicure stations that are very poorly organized. Alice is a sweet old lady who loves engaging in conversations with her clients which I enjoyed. My nails were done by another nail technician (she was also very sweet). Usually my gel manicure doesn't take that long but this time it took me 1.5 hours. The nail technician was attentive and she tried to do her best. But she didn't soak my hands to soften my cuticles or apply oil to make it easier to remove them. I still have cuticles that were never removed completely. Usually after the nails are all ready for the gel polish I have always been asked to wash my hands but this time I wasn't. Poor selection of nail colors and it seems to be they are really old bottles. Overall customer service was great, cleanliness is a big question, and I was not completely thrilled with the final results. If you look closely there's many mistakes when the polish was applied. I clearly said not to over file my nails but yet she did that and my nails were shorter than what I wanted!! read more

I took advantage of the Groupon promotion with no expectations. The place was hard to find. But once I found it, the staff was accommodating with charging my phone while I got my powdered gel manicure. Alice was awesome. She made sure that my powdered gel manicure was shiny. She is a massage therapist and could tell I was tense. She made sure I relaxed by shaking my fingers. I would definitely return to this hidden gem for other manicures and pedicures. Let me begin with: There are SO many nail salons in NYC to go to, I'd advise to not waste your time or money going here. I used a Groupon for the gel manicure - which I'm aware Groupon places are pretty hit or miss to begin with. I called a day before to schedule an appointment for 7pm the following day. The phone call was impossible because the woman who answered it was barely speaking into the phone and sounded like she was talking to someone else the entire time. Didn't feel like the appointment was even written down then was hung up on. I then get to the salon 30 minutes before the appointment because I was running early - but still did not get seated until 25 minutes after my appointment time. The place itself was filthy, with trash on the ground and on the work station. It was extremely cluttered with paper waste and old receipts. My technician was reusing tools that were visibly dirty and there were nail clippings still on the table from the girl before me. During my nails session, she made a number of finger cuticles bleed which leaked into the polish. Felt uncomfortable to know that the cuticle nipper was also not sanitized. The polish job was slightly messy as well. After my nails were completed, I was getting my things to leave and my technician was standing uncomfortably near me pressuring me for a tip. She even said "No tip?", which I regretfully provided. I'll maybe return after I see a passing health inspection for this place. read more

They might be good with other things but not lashes. She applied the lashes to close to my waterline that it actually hurts when I close my eyes, half of my lashes also already fell out from one eye and she tried to charge me $80 when I had seen it on Groupon for $51. They were $46 and the nails were so poorly done they ripped out my hair every time I put it up in a ponytail. I love this place! Alice is super sweet and always does a good job. I've read some of the negative reviews and think they're pretty unfair; the place is not at all dirty and the prices are perfectly fair considering the amount of time, product, and effort invested in the service. I also think the reviews that critique its disorganization fail to account for the size and the fact that she has to fit an entire nail salon into the back of another salon. Came here after purchasing a groupon for a 10.00 mani pedi. The place was easy to find. The space is small but I was the only customer at the time which was a plus. This was one of the best mani pedis ive gotten in a while. Everyone was welcoming and nice. The owner Alice was so friendly and chatted with me almost the entire time. There is also a young girl who works there named Lena and I must say she was absolutely fantastic. From the pedicure to the almost 10 minutes massage. and her lovely attitude, she was phenomenal. Usually, they'll cut your cuticles but she didn't. Also, she filed my nails literally FIVE times. She didn't even dust off all the nail dust or whatever you called it and applied the top coat on. If you could see in the photo, there are rough spots on my nails and tomorrow, i'm seeing another nail technician to take these off because each nail has a rough spot. So many things wrong here. I don't even know how to start, so here's a list of everything I can think of at the moment: 1. I called on Tuesday, 11 February 2020 at 2:18pm to make an appointment for 12 February 2020 at 7pm. She took my number down (didn't want my name) and told me not to be late because she has another appointment afterwards. Fine. 2. I rushed out of work on Wall Street at 6pm sharp just to make it there on time, even though I had a ton left to do. I wanted to respect her time and did not want to jeopardize losing my appointment. 3. I arrived at 7pm sharp, and all the workers seemed confused, as they had just taken another so-called 7pm appointment. They told me to sit and wait because "she is so busy." I received no apoogies. 4. I chose a regular Essie color while I waited. I don't know how else to explain this. Keep reading... 5. I waited OVER AN HOUR. I should've just left at the beginning! 6. She did not clean the station, which I'm used to, as I go to other dirty, cheap nail salons around the city anyway. I assumed her work would be worth it, as other places do really well. 7. She did not fix my cuticles. She aggressively filed my skin off along with my nails. 8. She chose extensions way too large for my tiny nails, but I assumed she'd fix them with a filer later. She also used so much glue that it is still on my skin two weeks later. 9. I wanted acrylic nails, which are universally done by dipping a brush into some liquid, then powder that dissolves into a gel, then shaping it on the nail. Instead, she drenched my fingers (not just my nails) in the liquid and dipped my fingers into a jar labeled "SNS." I'm pretty sure that's what's used for a certain kind of gel manicure (I wouldn't know, as I've never had it done). She did this about five times on each finger. My nails looked ridiculously thick at this point, but I assumed she would use an electric file to thin them down. Since she dipped my whole finger, each "acrylic" nail went OVER my cuticles, rather than hitting just before the cuticles. This has caused my cuticles to feel VERY SORE. I wish I took pictures. 10. She did a horrendous job at shaping round nails. I had to ask her specifically how to fix each. I got so frustrated that I asked her for a nail file to do it by myself. 11. She did not use a base coat. She painted three THICK coats of a VERY opaque color - very unnecessary! Then, she applied a regular top coat (not even Essie). Keep reading... 12. She sent me to the nail dryers. I sat there for maybe thirty minutes. Then, she came over to tell me they're dry and tried to show me by touching them. Of course, they were NOT dry, so she messed them up. I HAD TO ASK HER TO REAPPLY. When she reapplied, she did an even sloppier job, as she painted OVER the mess, rather than removing it and starting over. 13. I sat there for another half hour because I could not afford to let them get messed up again. 14. After drying, I got up to show her my voucher, which of course she redeemed. Additionally, she demanded a fee for a "fast-dry top coat." Clearly, she does not know what "fast" or "dry" means because they took over an hour to dry. 15. I was ready to leave, when she demanded a tip. I asked, "a tip for what? Taking me an hour late? Doing a horrendous job? Charging me extra for nonsense?" She responded, "EVERYONE WHO GETS NAILS DONE KNOWS TOP COAT EXTRA. I VERY BUSY. EVERYONE WAIT." If you were a fabulous, professional nail technician, I probably wouldn't have minded waiting, but the whole experience was a total waste of time for me. I took my belongings and bolted out. 16. She called me the next night at 7pm: "ARE YOU COMING OR NOT?" I answered, "I came yesterday! I'm never coming back." She must've written my appointment in for the wrong date. 17. Now that my nails have grown a bit to show my cuticles again, the whole bottom of each nail is completely lifted, and I can feel whenever there is water, hand lotion, etc. stuck underneath each nail. Gross. What a nasty, disorganized salon. There is only one certification on the wall. I've heard through other Asians in the community that she has different women from China working for her all the time. They're illegally here in the US. Please avoid at all costs, especially considering their lack of sanitation. THIS is where you will catch Coronavirus. I'm very grateful I didn't, LOL. read more

Price was too cheap, I was so worried about the sanitation and their skills. The environment was okay, family-owned type of small salon. But everyone there was so friendly and nice. The service was surprisingly amazing!!! Two young males did my nails and they really looked like they love their job and customers. I had mani-pedi at the same time but it took them about an hour before applying nail polish. They took care of every detail very carefully, massaged my hands, scrubbed, rubbed my feet and legs, and massaged again, kept giving me big smiles lol. Lady has no idea how to glue on eyelashes. She ripped the tape off one eye at least 6 times (ouch, sensitive skin) and didn't even finish the job. The groupon I got was for 120 lashes per eye, I'm pretty sure there's maybe 60 max on each eye--and I'm being generous here. She also uses nail remover (acetone) to wipe the glue off your face, which is really terrible for my sensitive skin! Also I had to call her out on this dirty dinky plastic eyelash brush she was using encrusted with stuff from God knows what. I told her there are such things as disposable eye brushes and this was really unsanitary. Then after an hour and a half of her struggling to put on my lashes, I gave up because I was meeting with friends soon, not expecting this would take forever and let's face it, she wasn't going to turn into an eyelash extensions expert overnight. Would NOT recommend coming here for eyelash extensions. But at least the Lady knew she screwed up because she didn't ask for a tip. read more

I can distinguish what part of Asia they are from) One guy did my mani and the other one did my pedi at the same time. My only problem is that their technique is not really as good as the other nail techs around. I noticed that they were filing my nails so hard that my nails were not even at the end. The other thing was... I saw that they have a table for manicure but the guy opted to have a hard time doing my manicure standing, bending and he was just going back and forth. I mean I know you want to get thinGs done but common! You have a specific work station for my nails! My mani turned out to be uneven at the end and Im like okay whatever he even made a mistake twice and needed to re apply the nail polish! I guess I get what I paid for... Now, for my Pedi it was okay but not the best work although I loved the foot rub. At the end, The guy who did my mani gave me a plastic to wrap my feet before putting my socks and shoes. I find it unnecessary since i made sure that its all dried up. When I got home I was so disappointed coz my pedicure was ruined by the plastic wrap. The moisture was sealed and i guess it was mixed with the nail polish (see photo) just so you know, 2 stars for the massage and they were nice to me... I still have them 16.00 tip coz of that. Review for Groupon! Overview: amazing! Favorite new spot. Clean, detailed, amazing massages, affordable. Location: blink and you miss it, located inside of Shai Salon in station square. Its small and cramped but I was there with one other person and I didn't mind the space. Great variety of polish colors (lots of essie!). 3 nail stations and 3 pedicure stations. Service: from start to finish my experience here was amazing. Remember when you used to get your nails done and it felt like an actual luxury, instead of now where pushy nail techs barely do their job except to just paint nails? This place is exactly what you want from a mani/pedi: there was great detail in cutting my cuticles, a (fantastic) massage for both the exfoliation AND lotion, and painting my nails. I got a massage from one of the women there while I was drying, and they even gave me a candy! The mani pedi took about 1.5 hours unlike most salons that rush everything and push you out the door in 20 minutes. Price: for ten dollars I felt like I was the one cheating them out of money. Even without the groupon a mani/pedi that amazing will cost you 25 bucks. Overall an amazing experience, I will definitly come back to this place. Got my eyelashes done last night and missing HUGE chunks today. I look crazy. Was not what I expected. Had my eyelashes done before in city and they lasted 6 weeks! Very uncomfortable process (got jabbed in the eye a few times with tweezer), loud talking, bad breathe and uncomfortable tape over my eyes. I bought a Groupon for a mani & pedi to try this place out since the deal was amazing. It is located inside Marina's Hair Salon and a small space but Alice did an amazing job with my nails! It has been one of the most thorough and best manicure and pedicure that I've had. Don't let the space fool you as it is not fancy at all, but the massaging chairs and the great service make up for it. Alice really did a great job with shaping my nails to how I wanted them as sometimes when I ask for a specific shape.. it doesn't come out how I expected, but she got it! The young man who did my feet took his time filing and scrubbing rough patches, I liked such focus and, but at the end my nails looked all uneven and polish was smugdy and not attractive at all. This was the worst experience ever. A man tried to file my nails over books and what looked like someone's school work. I told him to remove it. It turns out he wasnt even a the person who does nails. He was the husband of the woman. Then the woman put used aluminum foil on my gel nails. I know it was used because the foil was wrinkled and then after she took it off my nails put it back in the container. Non of the tools used look sanitized and the stick used to push my nail bed back was stored with a container of pens and pencils. The woman doing my nails was eating while the foil wraps were on.
