I must say this place is very average to below average for a pizza place. To start we had a large party. At around 6:20 my family was told everyone must be present to be seated but "once we were all there we be seated right away". Even known 7 out of 9 were present, they all had to wait. Of course, I was the unfortunate person stuck in traffic holding up the whole party. I wanted to not even go at this point so they did not have to wait for me. Once I get there (about 6:50) a different person gives us a buzzer and we wait 15-20 more minute. Truthfully, if the original person would of told the whole truth about the process we would gone somewhere else. Also, on a side note one of the party member did call ahead to see if they take reservations for large parties and they do not which is fine. Although, they could mention at this point all party member had to be present to seated then we would of picked a later time. So we sit down, waiting for something special since we all had to be present and nothing happen....but the waitress was very kind and did a good job even known she had quite of few tables. To start we orders an apps and salad. Anti-pasta was good, but the sampler was generic and small (3 chicken tenders, 3 fried mushroom and I believe 3 or 4 moz sticks). Also I ordered french onion soup. It was burnt but once you got pass the black parts it was ok nothing special. I am not a fan of burnt cheese. Finally the main event. The whole group order pizzas of different sizes except one person order the salmon. The pizza was also pretty dull. There just was nothing that stood out about it. I know they make it fresh but for some reason it reminded me of frozen pizza. Mine was pretty salty too, which I did not understand. As for the salmon it was blood red raw, the staff was very sorry thou and took it off the bill. So all in all it was a some what of poor experience. I think if the start would been better the rest of the evening would of had a different feel to it. Do not think I would ever go back but it was not completely inedible so I did not give one star. If you are looking for a good family pizza place I would said Buddies' or even your local delivery place is way better. read more

You may want to look elsewhere if you're considering hosting a banquet event here. The pros: The banquet room is really nice. There are sliding doors you can close so your group doesn't disturb the patrons in the restaurant and your party has privacy. Our waitress was great! She was so kind and did her very best to ensure we had everything we needed. Her service was timely and friendly. The cons: When I stopped in the restaurant to pay my deposit and review their banquet options, there was no manager available (even though I was told there would be). I was asked to wait. I waited for 45 minutes (I should have just left). When I was finally able to review the banquet policy, I was told they offer zero flexibility within the established banquet menu. I understand they want to run an event as efficiently as possible. However, I was simply asking for a platter of chicken parm to serve in addition to the pizza buffet. I would have gladly paid extra. Leading up to the event, my headcount changed twice. The people I spoke with about this were clearly annoyed that I was reducing the amount of people coming (even though I was still going to hit the room minimum). On the day of the event, the room had all of the extra tables and chairs shoved in the corner. It looked really unorganized and tacky. I understand they may not have another place to store these items, but they could at least make it look presentable. I was disappointed they served the pasta in three tiny little bowls on the buffet. One larger pan over a chaffing dish would have been nice. The pasta was not good. It was cold and lacked flavor (almost like a can of sauce was just poured over noodles). Luckily the salad, pizza, and bread made up for what the pasta lacked. Banquet warning: I was really disappointed at their prices. While I thought their $14.95/per person charge for adults was reasonable, they charged $10 for each child (over the phone I was told they charge menu pricing for kids, which ranges from 4.50 to 5.95). I asked if they would be willing to serve a scoop of ice cream with the cake we brought in (they wanted to charge $3 per scoop...insane). Also, they only allow you to set up 20 minutes before your event. Our event was a small luncheon, but I couldn't' imagine hosting a larger event and having only 20 minutes to set up. I feel like the Alibi only cares about their bottom line. They serve cheap food at high prices and don't go the extra mile to make their customers feel like they are getting a good dining experience (yes, I've even in their restaurant too and feel the same way). We were a party of 18 people celebrating my nephews graduation. When we called to make reservations, we were told that they did not accept dinner reservations, lunch only. Do we arranged for a member of our party to show up an hour in advance, because we know that it is not normal for 18 people to show up unexpectedly. When she arrived, the manager, Jeff, told her that she could not be seated until the entire party arrived. She explained that it was a graduation and there were 18 people, and he would not make any exceptions. When our entire party of 18 showed up, we waited another 15 minutes for Jeff to ask if it would no ok to split our party, or we could wait even longer to be seated. We ended going to Shields in Troy, on Maple. The owner came over to our table when he heard what had happened and he personally thanked us for the business. After receiving the response from the owner of the Alibi, I believe the attitude of the staff is coming directly from the top. The service was horrible. It took over 15 minutes for a waitress to come and take my order. Then after my food came my food was cooked well done when i asked for medium. The waitress did not refill our drinks. It took almost 1.5 hours from sitting to completion. The waitress was very rude the entire time. We had to ask for silverware and plates. Love the Alibi for the ambiance and of course the pizza. Salads are very good as well. Both the antipasto dressing and pizza crust have a sweetness that makes them unique and addicting. Pros: warm, comfortable atmosphere, good for families and couples alike, good bar area, consistent food, great salads and top notch pizza. The specialty is the round which has a med thick crust. If you're a fan of pepperoni this is a good place to order it - round, crispy little grease cups. Cons: I wouldn't have remembered, but as someone else pointed out here the 'no seating until the entire party is present' policy could be an inconvenience. I was burned on that once. If it's cold out I'd avoid tables near the door in the bar area. Indifference: consistently, perfectly, adequate service. I frequented the Alibi pretty regularly for a while and never had a bad service experience or one I would consider exceptional. read more

Been to the Alibi several times. I was always happy with Fish and Chips, pot pies or the other normal dishes I ordered. Then I discovered their pizza and my world changed. Man, this is the best pizza ever! I usually eat 2, maybe 3 pieces of normal pizza, but at Alibi, I devour an entire small. Sure I get a stomach ache and want to take a nap, but it oh so worth it. I love the baked scrod with stir fried vegetables, tonight the vegetables we hard, hardly cooked, the fish was over done. Very disappointed in the customer service tonight at Alibi. We arrived at Alibi around 6:15 with three young hostesses at the front hostess stand. There was no wait and she took us to a table and we asked at that time for one of the two empty booths. The hostess let out a huge sigh (very annoyed apparently) and proceeded to tell me it would be a wait for the two empty booths! While waiting numerous people came and good to know we were not the only patrons they were rude to. Finally seated at 6:35 in a different both while the two booths that were opened remained open?! What I like about The Alibi: - Their pizza is scrumptious and reasonably priced - Their Famous Sub is worthy of the name - The Tuna Pita is a scrumptious lunch meal - The stir fry will is surprisingly delicious You'll want to arrive by 11:45 if you're going for lunch M-F because the place fills up pretty quickly after that and you may have to wait 15 to 20 minutes to get a table. The atmosphere inside is rustic and homey with a large stone fireplace in the center, open timber ceiling and antique decorations adorning the walls. If you're a person who likes lots of personal space, you'll want to request a booth because the tables lining the exterior walls are quite close together. They have a good bar and seating is available in the bar area where you can order from the full dining room menu. They also have an amply sized room available to rent for parties. read more

But in the last few times we have dined in and/or gotten carry-out, the food has been disappointing, the service has been unpleasant, and I leave feeling like I wasted my money. Receiving and antipasto salad with NO meat?! How is that possible?! Servers telling me they'll be gone for a while because "they have another section" is is just unacceptable. I was a server for 5 years in a restaurant twice the size and NEVER used that as an excuse. If I could give this place a negative star I would. All the reviews that rave about their pizza drew us in. At the time of ordering, I asked for a side of pizza sauce to be served with our small peperoni pizza. The waitress served our pizza without it, then brought it after waiting until our pizza was cool, and the sauce was so cold it had to have just come from the fridge! The crust was get this.....tasted of sugar? Yes! Egads. My Italian friend wanted to throw it back at them. When we told our waitress of our displeasure, she told us she would have the manager remove it from our bill. Here is the last disappointment, the manager never came to appologize or to talk to us. I haven't been here in a few years but remember the pizza being amazing. I ordered 30 minutes in advance and when I arrived they at first had no record of my order and then asked if I wanted to wait for one to be made and I declined. They then offered me someone else's pizza but I said thanks but no thanks. The kitchen was just a hang out for the teen cooks who thought it was amusing I was in this situation. The food here is Ah-mazing! If that's all there was they would get 10 out of 5 stars! However, the service is really bad. The hostess during the day is downright rude and should never have customer interaction. I think she's related to the owner somehow, that's really the only explanation I can think of. The servers are all scatter-brained and it's almost impossible to get the special prices they have listed on the menu in the lobby. We went at night once and won't do it again, we were reminded right when we got there of what time they close and then when closing time came she literally shooed us out of the restaurant, physically. I agree with all the complaints about the hostesses. It's a nice place with good food but the hostess last night acted like I was invisible when I came up to her with a simple question. Then when she did acknowledge me, she seemed as if I was bothering her. Train your girls to smile every once in a while, and to not be so miserable to be there.
