We used to love this place but the last few times going there the quality and customer service has been on a decline. Today was the final straw. We got there at 4:30 on a Friday night and got seated right away, right next to the server station. We waited there for more than 10 minutes for someone to acknowledge our presence. Even though there were multiple servers walking past us and ignoring us we were trying to stick it out. It wasn't until a few of the servers decided to chat in the server station that was within arms reach of us and look right at us and make eye contact did we decide that we were done with Alibi for good. Alibi serves up some slightly better than average pizza. Their pepperoni is spicy and a bit on the greasy side, but incredibly delicious. Service is attentive and the environment is homey and warm. Perfectly place to take the family for a delicious pie! It's probably the best pizza in Troy, but if I'm in that greater area, I typically head to Green Lantern instead. read more

We ordered three large pizzas and a party antipasto salad from Alibi for carry out for my father in-law's birthday. Two pizzas had pepperoni and mushrooms and one had pepperoni, green peppers and onions. All of the pizzas were mediocre at best. I gave two stars instead of one because they had a separate carry out entrance in the back of their restaurant, which was super convenient, the salad had fresh ingredients and it was massive, and the crust on the pizza was pretty good. Outside of these items though, the pizza was a joke. We are lucky enough to live in Metro-Detroit where there are plenty of great places to eat and a plethora of pizza places to choose from, which is why I believe their pizzas were mediocre at best. I honestly don't understand why people hype up their pizzas-they were rubbish-not even as good as a pizza from Little Caesar's. When you buy a pizza from Little Caesar's, you're getting what you pay for. A Hot-N-Ready pepperoni pizza from Little Caesar's has basic ingredients with lots of pepperoni, which fills you up and you eat it "hot and ready" and that makes for a great value. But, the pizzas from Alibi were not a great value. They were $13.75 each for the two topping pizzas and $15.25 for the three topping pizza. For that much money, I would have expected some amazing pies like I have eaten at Crispelli's. The pizza sauce was dry and tasted mainly like tomato paste, so maybe that's all they put on the pizza dough-tomato paste. I wonder if they call it pizza paste and not pizza sauce. The cheese was okay, but the pepperonis were thin and burnt to a crisp on the pizza that had green peppers and onions on it...tons of tiny pieces of green peppers and onions on it and they were smothered among the cheese. We could barely taste them. The other problem is that each slice of that pizza had two pepperonis. Why did you guys go light on the meat? You ripped us off in an effort cut costs. I understand that some people like burnt pepperonis, but why were the pepperonis protected by mushrooms on the other pizzas in an effort to prevent them from getting burnt and not protected on the pizza with green peppers and onions? Also, the mushrooms seemed like they came from a can, which is a huge no-no in my opinion. No self-respecting chef would use canned items of any kind, except for sliced pineapple, when they serve their guests food, so canned mushrooms have no place on a pizza. Canned food has no place whatsoever at a place like Alibi, which is marketed as a restaurant that has "famous pizza" and it features "a full bodied menu of great cuisine." The worst thing about the whole scenario was that nothing about the three pizzas tasted fresh. Yes, the crust was pretty good, but the poor sauce and toppings overshadow the crust. Needless to say, we won't be eating any of Alibi's pizzas ever again. Alibi is possibly another example of a restaurant in Metro-Detroit that opened a long time ago, gained customers who loved the atmosphere and the location and maybe the food, and the customers made it a tradition to keep coming back. The customers possibly stay in love with this place because of the nostalgia that it gives them when they eat here and they overlook the fact that the food is not as good as the prices would make them think. I can't talk about the service because we got carry out, but I hope that their servers haven't fallen into the trap of apathy like their cooks. It seems like that's what happened to the cooks based on the mediocrity of the pizzas we ate. It was as if the cooks could care less about making great pizzas for us and whoever is making the sauce, I sure hope they actually taste the finished product before they put it on the line to put on pizzas. Furthermore, if they had done some quality control, then a manager could have seen that that sauce was dry and added water or another ingredient to keep it saucy and not pasty. My fiancé and I were introduced to Alibi about a year ago after moving to Troy and we are in love! We've only ate in the restaurant once and the experience was good. Even though it was super busy our food came out quickly and our server was attentive - made sure our drinks were full. I have been coming to the Alibi for years, I can remember as a kid when it was an old house serving pizza, burgers and sandwich's. It is now a very nice building with carryout in the back. Pizza is still their speciality, but the rest of the menu is very strong especially the ribs. Beer is cold and the drinks are mixed well, servers are friendly and helpful. Overall, the experience was pretty, not bad, but not very memorable. Part of it may have had to do with the loud obnoxious crowd that we got stuck next to, but part of it was that the food was just decent. Although the soup was very good, the pasta I could have made better in my kitchen at home, and with better products. This was my first time visiting Alibi and I would visit again for their pizza alone. I was there with two other people and the restaurant was not very busy. The service was not great. It took an extremely long time to get out drink orders taken and then to order our food. We ordered two pizzas, breadsticks, and the Greek salad. All was very tasty and full of flavor. The breadsticks were a little on the salty side but were super fresh with perfect texture. The cups with water had something floating in the glass and when I asked for a new glass the server was not pleasant. I was brought another dirty glass. I love Alibi and I love that their menu has a lot to offer; there are so many things to choose from other than pizza !! I rarely eat pizza because I never crave it. I was introduced to Alibi by the owner of where I used to work. During meetings, sometimes they would order pizza and a Greek salad for us. The vinaigrette dressing for the salad is sooo good. Before I even knew what a foodie was, there were certain places that food maybe just tasted better than others. The Alibi was my first memorable experience with "adult food" taste. As a teenager it was like you had to come to the Alibi to experience sophisticated taste, at an age when sophisticated tastes were pretty much anything beyond the neighborhood Wendy's. You can definitely fill yourself up on great pizza and beer. The best part about the whole thing was that everything was dark and painted black so there definitely was a moodier vibe when you came in, like it was something special. Great atmosphere. EVERYONE loves this place/pizza (well, except for some ex employees I seem to know) Dark wood and tight tables....decent service. And, I am, by nature a contrarian of sorts (pretentious way to say that I am a huge dick about certain things=) At any rate, really love this pizza. Between the crust, sauce, and roni goo cups, it just seems to be a magical interaction that I have never had anywhere else. The Caesar salad tasted like someone accidentally ladled a honey mustard ounce or two before they realized it was a caesar......doesn't matter. Dog friendly! Wow! I love my dog. I put a vest on my dog and without question I could take the dog into the restaurant. I could see one couple complaining. I spoke to a manager later and he affirmed a policy of dog friendly. Next week I am going back and taking my friends. A couple of them have emotional support animals. Most of them have dogs, one has a cat. We are going to have our emotional support Christmas party at Alibi! They get it. The service was slow, the food was okay. We came in about 10 minutes early with only four people and we didn't know, this lady was unlocking the door and she goes "you guys are 10 minutes early so you going to have to wait at a table because nobody's here." She said it in a insanely rude voice my whole family looked at each other disgusted and we went and sat down. They didn't offer us water or anything and all the waitresses walked around with a frown on her face I met one girl who was training that actually had a smile before that when we walked in and sat down the lady that was being rude was looking at us talking and laughing we all thought she was talking about us. I was so excited to try Alibi for the first time since I have heard so many wonderful things about the place. My experience took 3 hours since the restaurant was very busy during the dinner rush. The downfall is that letting a new server on the floor on his day 1. Roman mentioned at the beginning that this was his first day and it shows. It took him 15 mins to put in our drink order and another 10 mins to get our drinks. Our food did not show up together and most of the items were missing some ingredients. The appetizer showed up with the entrees and that was a hour and half from ordering. I also had to ask for the pizza I ordered since it did not show up. Unfortunately, I had Roman box it up to go as it was close to closing time by the time we received our food. We had to get our own refills and took 15 mins to get our check. I was really excited to try the pizza for the first time. I just hope the MOD didn't diminish Roman's confidence on his first day, as he just threw him to the wolves. Ok, first time there, and was pleasantly surprised. We had a large group of 27. Managment did what they could to accomodate us on a busy day. The server we had was great, no complaints there. We ordered Pizza, Antipasto Salad and breadsticks. I will give the salad and breadsticks 5 stars, really good. I was not as crazy about the pizza as some, but none the less it was still very good. I must say this place is very average to below average for a pizza place. To start we had a large party. At around 6:20 my family was told everyone must be present to be seated but "once we were all there we be seated right away". Even known 7 out of 9 were present, they all had to wait. Of course, I was the unfortunate person stuck in traffic holding up the whole party. I wanted to not even go at this point so they did not have to wait for me. Once I get there (about 6:50) a different person gives us a buzzer and we wait 15-20 more minute. Truthfully, if the original person would of told the whole truth about the process we would gone somewhere else. Also, on a side note one of the party member did call ahead to see if they take reservations for large parties and they do not which is fine. Although, they could mention at this point all party member had to be present to seated then we would of picked a later time. So we sit down, waiting for something special since we all had to be present and nothing happen....but the waitress was very kind and did a good job even known she had quite of few tables. To start we orders an apps and salad. Anti-pasta was good, but the sampler was generic and small (3 chicken tenders, 3 fried mushroom and I believe 3 or 4 moz sticks). Also I ordered french onion soup. It was burnt but once you got pass the black parts it was ok nothing special. I am not a fan of burnt cheese. Finally the main event. The whole group order pizzas of different sizes except one person order the salmon. The pizza was also pretty dull. There just was nothing that stood out about it. I know they make it fresh but for some reason it reminded me of frozen pizza. Mine was pretty salty too, which I did not understand. As for the salmon it was blood red raw, the staff was very sorry thou and took it off the bill. So all in all it was a some what of poor experience. I think if the start would been better the rest of the evening would of had a different feel to it. Do not think I would ever go back but it was not completely inedible so I did not give one star. If you are looking for a good family pizza place I would said Buddies' or even your local delivery place is way better. read more
