Our service this night was great!! We had family in from Florida and they were returning the next morning! Jessica did an outstanding job filling our cups (we never had to ask for refills) and our food arrived in a timely fashion! Love the Alibi breadsticks!! You must get those if you go here!! I got the French dip which is super yum!! My mom has never been here and she LOVED IT .. especially the breadsticks and she loved her French onion soup!! The pizza is amazing! It's a great place overall but for our family it's the breadsticks that brings us back!! Yum !! We were seated quickly as our group arrived pretty much on time. Wow. This place is amazing. We came here for rehearsal dinner for my friends wedding. I was the best man for this particular wedding. The groom or my friend had mentioned the breadsticks were amazing. After having one, the breadsticks really were as he described. They are so soft and buttery. It couldn't but help myself from stopping. They were like eating those pizza breadsticks you get at those pizza places; except it's super fresh. I was skeptical when someone tole me the feta salad was amazing. Upon having some i was surprised. It was really that good. The feta salad had this delicious dressing that provided acid and the feta cheese was rich and went well with the mix of romain lettuce. The prime rib here is a steal. It's large and can feed hungry-man portions. My wife only had half of it. Looking at the prices, i was deeply surprised the prime rib was only 17 bucks. I would normally pay $30-40 for a prime rib of that size. Overall, i would definately come back. Next time, i would want to try the pizza, or have another prime rib! read more

My husband was recently diagnosed as a Celiac, so he's had to give up almost all of his old favorite foods. It makes dinner options tough when you are a celiac and your wife & kids love all that gluteny deliciousness! Looking for somewhere we could pick up for dinner recently, he was thrilled to see that the Alibi offered gluten free options on their menu. While he still craves the pizza and breadsticks, it's nice to know we can still eat at one of our old favorites! I had heard great things about this place and finally decided to drop in. I went at 6pm on a Friday and the place was jammed to the gills. We were luckily seated immediately and I was definitely happy with the food. Their pizza is a cross between Costco and Papa Johns with bigger crust. The dough was sweet and they have an odd mix of high quality pepperoni and canned mushrooms. I am a big guy and three pieces was more than enough for me. They also have a nice beer selection. This a place to grab some upper level utility pizza. However, thy not to over order as it is not a great day-after pizza. read more

Oh the Alibi....I have been here on and off since middle school and the pizza is more and more fantastic every time. The rest of the menu from what I have seen looks great too, but every time I come here I HAVE to get the pizza. They pile the pizza with a ton of cheese, the homemade sauce has a sweet flavor to it and the crust is the perfect combo of soft with a touch of crisp to it. Does that make sense? Anyway, the pizza is 100% fantastic and it's worth the drive if you don't live close to the Troy/Rochester border. You will automatically get free sesame breadstix, but definately pay the 2.50 or whatever to get the super soft buttery fresh baked soft ones-totally worth it. Best Greek salad as well...the dressing tastes as good if not better than the best most authentic greek restaurant you have ever been to. Haven't had other salads because.... Why 4 stars you ask?? Well, I am a ranch gal...I do NOT care for warmer buttermilk ranch ever and especially with pizza....also, they don't use fresh mushrooms on the pizza either, which isn't a huge crisis but it would be a nice touch to use from fresh 'shrooms for fungi lovers. Considering the history and name of this restaurant, I always imagine some sort of shady business occurring here back in the day. I must have an overactive imagination. However, my imagination is not wandering far when I talk about their food. I love their food. My parents and I used to frequent this place all the time in my teens. I'm pretty sure I can garner some corny birthday photos of myself in front of their warm fireplace. They are known for their pizza. Sure, they don't do much with it, but it's good. I don't think I've ever finished a pizza there with any party I've been with. The breadsticks are amazing. My mouth waters just thinking about them. Eating them plain= great. +butter = mmmmmm. Their other dishes are pretty good, too. I remember a certain Alfredo phase, and it was a very long phase. I don't know if they still have this dessert, but they used to have this "snickers pie" or something of the sort. It was delicious. Chocolaty, nutty, and with some vanilla ice cream and caramel. Let me start out by saying, the location and vibe seems great. As for the food and service..i've experienced much better. Considering that this place is actually KNOWN for it's PIZZA, I would have to assume that the either Oprah Winfrey doesn't know anything about pizza or was recommended it by a close associate, that lives under the same rock that the regulars of this restaurant do. Ok..Ok.. It's edible and appetizing (because its bread cheese and sauce) , but not some sort of amazing pizza. National pizza chains can definitely compete...especially with the chewy crusts that should at least be crunchier than a sponge. I thought the service was a joke. I've been on kind of an Alibi kick lately, so I thought I'd write a review. The pizza has a slightly sweet crust and is of medium thickness, which I like. I've tried the french onion soup, which was pretty good. However, I'm not a fan of the breadsticks (but most of my friends enjoy them). The pizza can be a little inconsistent - I've picked up some pizzas that have had gigantic bubbles or are too well-done, but I'm OK with that. Most of the pizzas are really great. I'm not a huge fan of eating in the restaurant itself because it smells kind of musty, some of the wait staff seemed angry, and the silverware isn't always the cleanest. I've been here about 6 times in the past 3 years, the pizza and atmosphere keep bringing me back, oh and the Greek Salad too. The atmosphere has a cozy cabin like feeling, a lot of wood, subdued lighting which I like. It's always been crowded when I've gone. It's especially nice in the winter when it's cold because they have a fireplace. There usually is a wait to get a seat. Once seated service is usually excellent. Pizza is the main attraction for me, it's a hand tossed (with the usual bubble in the crust) that's almost thin. Cheese and most toppings are fresh and delicious, and the pepperonis are the small ones that curl up into cups: Win. Greek salad gets a high rating due to a the awesome garlic component to the dressing: Win. They have a good list of affordable wines. The McManis Cab. was the bomb paired w/ salad & pizza, it has nice wood notes but is not as good as it was 2 years ago, not sure if it's because the wine is overage or if this is a new year that is not as good as older vintages. I've heard people compliment the prime rib which looked great being served to other people. I've had the Fish & Chips which they recommended and was decent. Sometimes you get a seat where you have to sit close to other people but it's still nice and it's cool to see what others are eating and chatting about. Solid 4 Stars. read more

I honestly think this place is a little overhyped. The wait is absolutely too long for what the food tasted like. It's awesome that they separate smokers and non-smokers. I regularly visit this establishment with my girlfriend and her family. The amount of food for your money you receive is a great value. Their pizza and bread sticks are always phenomenal and tasty. The only complaint I have is their service is often hit or miss that you receive here. I've had exceptional wait staff and other times I've had waitresses that could care less about checking in to your table. If the consistency with their wait staff changed they would certainly get 5 stars from me because I absolutely love the food here. read more

I haven't sat in the restaurant in several years, but every now and then when I'm looking for a good pizza, I get Alibi take out, and it's usually pretty quick. There are so many options, and they are very generous with the amount of toppings. The breadsticks are delicious too. I usually get the large supreme pizza for my family of 4. I think there are enough reviews on Yelp that anyone considering going to Alibi should get a sense of what is good and what needs improvement. For me, the pizza is good and has always been good. But Alibi is too small for how many people is seats, and the feeling is one of being crowded on all sides (less you are in a booth). Also, I think aside from the pizza, it is wholly average. Nothing horribly wrong, but there are many options in the area, and if I were comparing "pizza places" I would much rather visit other options nearer our house. And, if I didn't require sit-down, there are many other equally good pizza options. Beer selection is also a bit weak (limited) compared to other places I can visit. I think my review seems a bit harsh, but it's more to say I think Alibi is fine/average. While tradition is good, it may be time to re-imagine the establishment and look for improvements in customer experience and perhaps shake up the menu a bit. read more

It's true what they say! The pizza is amazing! It's the crust, it's slightly sweet. I've never dined in, we always order and pick up. The only thing I don't like about their pizza (and this is incredibly minor) is the grease filled pepperoni cups, and if you had a pepperoni pizza you know exactly what I mean. Over the years the pizza has been on steady decline and its soley because it's UNDERCOOKED. Idk if its because they are turning over so many pizzas they are rushing it or what but even when I order it well done, it still comes undercooked. Idk what the problem is but I really hope they fix it. As everyone has said, the pizza is awesome! The rest of the menu is good too (I've never heard anyone complain!) and the desserts are wonderful. I have been to the Alibi in big groups and they are always quick and happy to wait on you. I am disappointed that there was no follow up or response to the negative review that I wrote on 9/25/20. There have been some glowing reviews recently and some that are not so glowing. However, I had hoped that if there was some reason for the poor pizza that we received, there might be some response or explanation. This is the best pizza in the area by far! Have been frequenting this location for many years and have always had EXCELLENT pizza and salads. They've recently remodeled the inside and it's awesome. You know the place is doing something right when there is so much carryout for their pizza. Seriously- they use the highest quality ingredients. For me and my family this is the standard to which other pizza is compared to. A very high standard it is. The pepperoni they use is delicious. Highly recommend requesting fresh mushrooms instead of the canned variety. Makes a big difference. Went for dinner with wife, daughter and another couple and their daughter. Ordered two individual pizzas, patty melt and pasta dish. Took an hour to get our entree. Patty melt was like warm at best, my friend barely touched his pasta dish. Pizza was good for the wives. This was a Wednesday at 7:00pm. Empty tables all over the place so I can't explain the slow service. Sent my patty melt back along with the cold fries. No offer to replace it, no manager to apologize. This was a family favorite of my in laws from years and years ago. Will not go back under any circumstances. Thoroughly disappointing. Worst pizza ever! Soggy crust and no flavor. Received 2 stars for the amazing breadsticks. Responding to owner: we ate there last Friday and were a table of 14. My husband and I shared a small pizza. It wasn't cooked enough and the crust was soggy but we were heading to a show and didn't have time to send it back. The restaurant was very busy and our waiter was very kind. We ended up this past weekend at the Alibi for a private gathering--on average we've been coming there 2 times a year for over a decade--typically its for pizza--which is hearty. The breadsticks are very good. So the pizza as I described is "hearty" implying neither good or bad. My wife apparently has fond childhood memories and is the only reason we occasionally eat there. My biggest complaint is with their tomato sauce that comes on their pasta dishes; a mediocre mix of what tastes like Campbell's tomato soup and canned diced tomatoes. Believe me, I am not looking for a taste blasted, textured filled sauce--basic is good--however Alibi's sauce is the equivalent of bums mixing ketchup in a cup of hot water. As I said I've been coming there for over a decade and the sauce has remained a constant disappointment. The past weekend the food laid out was pizza and pasta so I hoped time would have cultured its evolution--nope, move over bums and hand me the ketchup! read more

(This review is from a visit about 3 weeks - 1 month ago); I used to come to Alibi when I was a little kid for pizza with my mom, back then it was one of my favorites. It's been probably over 10 years and maybe even 15 years since I had last visited Alibi until my friends recent baby shower. She rented a room, possible the only room in the back of this place for it. It was a spacious room and a lot of people could fit in it seamlessly. When I first walked in there was no host or anybody who worked there at the door to help me, in fact there were 3 or 4 people ahead of me waiting to be greeted and seated so I just started walking around because I knew my friend was already there and I had been running late. There were 2 or 3 servers for the back room which was more than enough. It was buffet style and they had pasta and pizza for the main entree and cupcakes for desert, but they also had salad and bread before the main entree that was put out on the tables. I ordered two cosmos and they were pretty weak, not the greatest drink I've ever had, I wouldn't order again. The pizza was good just as I remembered, pasta was typical pasta I could find anywhere, really nothing special and wasn't impressed by it. My reason for it being 4 stars instead of 3 is only because this is based off a baby shower where the meal was preselected for us and it might not have been what I chose for myself had I been visiting here for a normal dinner. If a friend suggested to visit here for dinner again I might offer alternatives but I wouldn't flat out decline - its just not somewhere I see myself coming back too often. Service was good though besides not being able to talk to somebody when I walked in. Parking was good, although turning left into this place can sometimes be a nightmare. Alibi serves up some slightly better than average pizza. Their pepperoni is spicy and a bit on the greasy side, but incredibly delicious. Service is attentive and the environment is homey and warm. Perfectly place to take the family for a delicious pie! It's probably the best pizza in Troy, but if I'm in that greater area, I typically head to Green Lantern instead. read more

This place always has a sizable crowd when we have popped in for a meal. The food is very good and the waitstaff is extremely friendly and attentive. Our favorites are the fish and chips, the prime rib(only served on the wkends) and the breadsticks. Those are a bonus when ordering an entree. They menu ranges from sandwiches, pizzas and entrees.
