What an incredible experience it was working with Ali. Always prompt, positive, pleasant and always sounded EXCITED about the event! That's so meaningful when you're doing all the planning, it can be exhausting and depressing, and having someone remind you that YAY THIS IS GONNA BE SO FUN really helps keep you going at times. She really listened to my desires for the theme and flavors of the wedding, when I told her I wanted something very country and family-oriented, she came up with a menu better than I'd have imagined. Guests were coming to me all day saying this was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. I even had three women tell me they wish they'd known about her for their weddings. The set up was beautiful. Her servers were awesome. A bunch of young gentlemen, very friendly and enthusiastic. They seemed so happy to be there I could've mistaken them for guests if they weren't running around working their butts off! Really flexible, hardworking, and quick to fix any situation I may have caused (as the drunk and stressed bride, I know I was a handful lol). I would go back to Ali again and again and again. In September 2014, my sister and her fiancé had an engagement party catered by Ali Cats Catering. There were about 60 people at our parent's house dressed for a cocktail party all while Ali was doing magical things in the kitchen - stuffed mushrooms, shepherd's pie, little fig treats of this, tasty treats of that....scrumptious. Ali and her team had dishes floating around and disappearing as fast as they came out. When we announced to the group that this was actually a surprise wedding and began the ceremony, the crowd went crazy and after the exchange of vows, Ali and her team switched into dinner mode and the main course was ready for us to enjoy as we giddily talked about the events that just took place. We had the most amazing cocktail-party-turned-wedding imaginable and it was so fun with Ali in the kitchen, all the smiles, and great food. I had Ali cater a reunion dinner for me in Berkeley and it was FABULOUS! Everything came out hot, on time, and my guests were completely wowed by the wide array for freshness. Ali likes to use seasonal vegetables and is great at recommending dishes to include them. She is also trained in Ayurvedic medicine and cooking which she can incorporate with sensitivity to your liking. Don't get me wrong, I think she could cook a Kosher meal just as well, and I know from my catering experience she can use her butter! I honestly think this girl can have any theme down from Italian to Middle Eastern to authentic Southern or New Orleans eating. She is open to your suggestions and can plan a meal in practically minutes around your initial vision. I contacted several caterers, but Ali seemed to be most in tune with the type of menu I was after and she worked hard to create a menu that made the most of my tight budget. She was extremely responsive to all my emails and her professionalism put me at ease. I had around 65 adults & children at the party and the food appealed to everyone, regardless of age. Ali and her staffperson, Dora, were so easy to work with, on top of all details, flexible and the perfect blend of professional/friendly. Team510 Real Estate (Jackie & Chimene) threw a small rooftop party for their vendors this past weekend. Ali provided the perfect menu for a warm summer day at a fair price, and included Dora's time as on-site waitstaff in her original bid (very helpful). They gave us all the leftovers (though our guests really didn't leave much uneaten) and packed them up in our tupperware. Dora even extended her time with us at the very last minute, and stayed until the party area was cleaned up and everything put away. We would highly recommend Ali & Dora for any party you're planning, large or small. It's so valuable to be able to host a party and actually participate rather than serve all night. Ali was amazing. She catered our small backyard wedding, and the food was fantastic. ALL our guests raved about how good everything was. Ali was super professional, delivery was on time, presentation was beautiful. Portions were generous, we had leftovers. The bacon-wrapped scallops and crab cake appetizers were beyond great, and all the entrees were very satisfying. Besides the relevant company name, Ali is very generous with her time and energies in helping out or organization. In the end, I went with Ali's because I had personally experienced her delicious food and her professionalism. She delivered tons of finger foods for my fireworks surprise party and while she was about 15 minutes late delivering the food because of traffic from the AT&T park baseball game, she called every five minutes to keep me updated. We had a basic idea about what we wanted for food, how the tables should be arranged throughout the house and garden, and how we wanted basic service to be. Well, Ali not only listened to our ideas but she suggested some of her own......we pretty much changed to entire feeling of our party based on her professional suggestions and it was, by far, the best decision we could have made! Instead of stuffy, long tables that everyone would be stuck sitting at, we had 'tall boys' (small bar table) all around and folding nice white folding chairs available if need be. We did have two rather large, round tables for the grandmas and grandpas and that was a perfect choice! The space instantly became inviting while still creating an intimate setting for guests to mingle and chat. Instead of have large buffet tables, we had almost all food passed. The apps were passed then we had what a Ali liked to call "heavy appetizers" passed as well. Basically dinner in a cup. We also did have one small buffet table with pasta, salad and fruit & cheese. Ali and her staff were incredible! Smiles, smiles, smiles all day. So thoughtful, professional and kind! We totally emptied our fridge and cleared out the entire kitchen so they would have all work space available. I didn't look behind the scenes very much but it was immaculate when they left! Toward the end of the party Ali popped out to be sure everything was going well, took a couple photos with us and went on her way. She was just lovely and we knew the minute we met her, she was the one! I would give her more stars if I could! Ali is a gem and you should absolutely consider her for your next event.! I threw a fairly good size housewarming party for about 50 guests at my house n Piedmont and wanted something a lot nicer than Costco cold cuts. I'm glad I went to Ali...WOW! She and her servers came to my house and set everything up so beautifully. We had delicious and unique passed appetizers followed by a buffet dinner with really yummy desserts that tasted homemade. The food looked and tasted amazing and was all organic and fresh...everybody at my party was impressed. They packaged up the few leftovers we had (everyone scarfed!) and cleaned up so well after themselves that I didn't have to lift a finger. I had the good fortune to enjoy Ali Cat's creative and masterful cuisine on too many occasions to count while working as a personal assistant to a great author and foodie. My boss employed Ali Cat as his personal chef at least twice a week, and by way of his knowledge and excellent taste in all things gastronomical, I feel fully qualified in attesting to Ali's spectacular pallet pleasing talent. Exquisite fresh seafood, beautifully colorful seasonal vegetable medleys, honey glazed quail, roasted Rosemary Tempranillo duck, truly ingenious salads, sauces and pairings were all mouth watering enough. However, the menu item that is forever burned in my memory is her macaroni and cheese. Prepared with no fewer than five gourmet cheeses, usually gathered from the sale bin at Market Hall in Rockridge (I love a thrifty masterpiece far more than a rich one personally) and homemade Bechamel sauce in a large cast iron pot she swears by, with fresh, truly flavorful pastas, that macaroni and cheese rendered me defenseless every time. I was always powerless against it. If you would like to shift your personal paradigm of "comfort food" and pass into the era of "euphoric food," invite that macaroni and cheese into your home or to your party immediately.
