I ordered for the first time on Mother's Day weekend, we arrived to pick up the orders, I had bought the Board Room tray & the wine package. They looked organized, but they had to go find my order and I had to show them my email receipts because they didn't have my order on file...took a little longer but that was fine. They also gave out flowers for Mother's Day which was super nice! When we arrived home I unpacked & cleaned everything, and noticed I didn't get a Chardonnay, so I emailed Cabana Dave's right away to check to see what to do. I followed up with another email on 5/13 with no response. UPDATE Dave called me back personally today-he explained that they've been swamped & he said sorry for not getting back to me sooner. He has the wine & I can pick it up tomorrow! I love that they are helping local businesses during this time, and really I'd give more stars if I could get someone to respond to my question. This is about customer service, not the food. I called about a catering inquiry and Jill answered the phone. She laughed at and corrected me during our brief conversation, making me uncomfortable and quick to move on to another caterer. I am sure she had no ill intentions but as someone who has worked in customer service for seven years this was an unacceptable way to be treated. It came across as rude and thoughtless. I am giving this two stars instead of one because I hate to poorly effect this catering company's ratings because of a phone call, but I was very put off by this interaction. read more

Dave and his team have done 3 parties for me, to date. I can't say enough good things about them. But, let me get started. After shopping around for other caterers who would get my "vision", I remembered Dave and e-mailed my ask. One or two quick calls, and a teeny bit of back and forth, we got the most amazing and unique menu for 100 guests at the Barn in Livermore. The staff was professional, courteous and provided great service. Our bartender was hard working (my crowd can drink) and never let anyone see him sweat. The udon bar was a huge hit. Something about slurping comforting broth and drinking vodka that just pair well together. I love Cabana Dave's! Dave catered our wedding back in 2007 and did a fabulous job. Tri tip, chicken breasts, egg rolls (my special request), salads and desserts and the staff was so friendly and efficient! Cabana Dave's used to operate as a restaurant on Main Street in Pleasanton about 8 years ago but now strictly focuses on catering. They even cater for the Raiders and 49ers! Dave's food has a Carribean influence and is so tasty. Look for him at First Wednesdays in Pleasanton. Just saw him there last night and he gave me and my hubby free food (tri tip sandwich and ribs, respectively) just because he remembered us. Gotta love that! read more

3 1/2 stars for Cabana Dave's. Tonight's Moveable Feast was our first exposure to Cabana Dave's truck. Our group tried the jerk chicken wrap, baby-back ribs, and sweet potato fries. The rib meat fell off the bone, just like good ribs should, and I liked strong ginger component to their sauce. Unlike a review I read here on Yelp, my container was full of crisp, tender sweet potato fries. I had to add my own salt, but that's okay. The person who got the wrap liked the fact that it was in a tomato tortilla, and he enjoyed the fact that it had plantains inside. He said it was flavorful, although a little on the mild-side for his taste. We'll have to give Cabana Dave another try to see if that 3 1/2 stars can get bumped up. read more

Cabana Dave's catered our Tiki themed bridal shower for my nephew and his fiance. They did a great job! The food was delicious and they were so concerned about serving and integrity of the food they sent a person to set up and stick around to make sure our sliders were perfect. (they were!) Pork sliders were my favorite. So glad we had a veggie option with portobello sliders. Pasta salad and a regular salad with a yummy balsamic dressing. They also recommended a rental place to us that also worked out great. Great experience and would definitely will go back. Thank you to Roni Clements! Tried this recently at the 2nd SJ Eats. I was tempted to order one of everything, but having stopped at 3 other trucks my stomach finally caught up with me. Got the Jerk Chicken Wrap with a side of sweet potato fries. Took a little of their Jerk sauce as well for the fries. The wrap was only OK, spiced chicken, plantains, a jerk type slaw, and cream cheese (I think..?). The chicken was a bit dry, which didn't help with the starchy plantain, but the slaw and cheese they used had a nice twang. The sweet potato fries were on point though! Crispy outside, fluffy inside, sweet, and perfectly matched with their jerk sauce. Next time I'll have to try the trip-tip and ribs!! read more

Food was passable, but staff is rude and will hassle your guests or potential clients. I'm looking at you, lady in the glasses! They catered an open house event for a housing community in Livermore that my friends and I attended. The catering staff did not post any signs nor inform us beforehand about any rules for getting the food, then rudely yelled at us when we tried to get more than 2 sliders. They did the same thing to many other guests as well, and we could tell everyone felt a bit shocked and offended by her attitude. How do we know we are breaking a rule if we don't even know such a rule exists? Don't yell at your customers for your lack of communication! As a result, we decided not to check out the sales office and find out more about the houses being sold, we just wanted to get out of there. There goes a potential customer! read more

We used Cabana Dave's to cater a 90th birthday party (for 70 ppl) and they were fantastic! Because I have not planned many parties this size, Roni was able to suggest menu items send us a few sample menus to choose from. From there she worked with pretty much any request we had. The day of the party, there were two staff members to set up, serve and take down the entire lunch buffet. They were in contact with us the entire time making sure things were being run smoothly and on time. We went a southern menu, the food was excellent, the staff was very easy to work with. Caught them, coming through the latest Edgewood eats. They were focused on BBQ this time around but it seems like from their website they cook from all over. Decent ribs and good pulled pork. The real winner however was the tri tip. It was so good that we went back for seconds. I hope to see them again with a different menu but keep the tri tip of course! read more

All of these rave reviews are 100% true! From the very first communication, Cabana Dave's offered prompt and friendly service which made the planning of my grad party a breeze! Jill was fantastically helpful, resourceful and PATIENT! She let us know that we were ordering way too much food and she was absolutely right! We couldn't help ourselves..EVERYTHING on their menu just sounded so dang delish! She took charge and basically told me what I needed to do...pick out the color of the linens and the flatware. Sometimes when you have so much to do...having the help of a professional who knows what their doing...is really, really, really nice! That's Jill, she is an absolute pleasure to work with! Jackie's team provided an amazing service. Watching these three ladies work was awesome...like a well oiled machine. All went off without a hitch. Angel, the lady bar tending made sure that I had a beverage in my hand the entire time...and even made it a point to get my attention as she left to congratulate me one last time. The food was hot, the presentation was beautiful and the cocktails were flowing, The food was stellar. My guests sang their praises of how fantastic the food was! We opted for the fajita bar (shrimp, beef & shrimp). Fresh ingredients and seasoned to perfection! GET THE BAKED BRIE! It was the most fantastic display Id ever seen...served it on a big slab of marble...it was to die for! The port brownies and mini cheesecakes were also outstanding. Cabana Dave's is your caterer...so stop shopping around! Their prices are very fair, they have WONDERFUL people staffing the events and they eliminate so many of the headaches associated with planning a party. Cabana Dave's just opened a small facility on Dublin Blvd today. Since it's just in the next building, I thought it would be a great way to get food when I didn't bring my own. Their prices were below $10. They had a two for one deal so I called in for two eggplant Parmesan sandwiches for my boss and myself. The place is fairly small and maybe one or two tables for sitting. Defiantly just a place to get your food and go. They got the order done in 10 minutes and it was already there waiting for us. Well, when we went to our break room and opened it up, the sandwich didn't look all that appealing. There was barely to no sauce and the eggplant was chewy. The outside skin was tough to bit through that I cut it off. It was alright for the most part. Some other coworkers got the tri tip sandwich (which he said was alright and no sauce) and the Mediterranean chicken salad (which wasn't that good because they put both feta and Parmesan cheese). The overall assessment was that the food was alright and not that great. I don't see myself coming back. unless they make some changes to their menu. read more

We just had our wedding catered by Cabana Daves 7/7/11 and I have mixed feelings about the service. I met with Dave about 3 months before our wedding and he was available for a meeting immediately which is always good. After speaking to him a second time about the wedding, budget, food choices, etc. my husband and I chose to go with him for the catering. We went to a tasting and his chef is great! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything before the actual wedding was flawless but then came the wedding... 1) The salad plates I rented were not used at all and therefore that was money that went to waste. 2) I had some guests, our photographer, and his assistant that practically had to serve themselves because the staff members were who knows where. I had to get the venue staff to locate them to serve my guests. 3) Three or four linens were left at the venue and Roni, the manager in charge, had said they would pick them up the following morning. Well they weren't picked up and were left at the venue. I had to pay for them to be replaced at the linen company. 4) Dave and I had agreed we'd take the plates/linens from the venue because we had to drop them off the following day to the rental company. Apparently Dave didn't communicate well with Roni because I had to pick everything up from Dave's office the morning after. Overall, I loved the food and it was a pleasure working with Dave but his staff need to get it together. read more

We were looking to book a food truck for our wedding rehearsal dinner in Livermore wine country. Cabana Dave's looked like a great option. We hadn't tried the food so we knew were taking a risk, but food-wise the risk paid off. Service, however, was just ok. We initially spoke to Jill on the phone. This seems to be where all the confusion started. We specifically laid out our menu and a few allergies (mango and mushrooms). When we received our quote, the menu was not at all what we discussed. Jill was able to fix that right away. Everything looked good and we were looking forward to the day of the event. When we arrived at the venue, I noticed there was mango (a lot of it) in the fruit salad. We spoke to the woman running the truck that day and she was kind enough to go back to pick up a mango-free fruit plate. BUT...had someone else gone to fix me a plate instead of me doing it myself, I wouldn't have noticed the mango and would have ended up in the hospital. Because of this, we quickly decided to check with the truck to make sure they weren't using mushrooms. As we get to the truck, they are chopping up mushrooms to add to the salads. Seriously?? Again, luckily we caught that in time. The bottom line is the food exceeded expectations and the on-site staff was accommodating. In fact, many of our guests came up to us to let us know how much they were enjoying the food. We did as well. HOWEVER, allergies are a serious thing. As a catering business, you shouldn't take that lightly. We did receive an apology email after the fact, which was nice, but that doesn't quite make up for the fact that 2 major things that could have landed guests (one of them the groom) in the hospital were overlooked. read more

Great catering from special event at the office. They featured a lot of excellent American barbecue,sides and few refreshments too. They had the following: Pulled pork: moist,tender and really flavorful brine. 5/5. BARBECUE CHICKEN: SOMEWHAT on the dry side but the brine their chicken to be moist. 4/5 Strawberry walnut salad served with fresh spring mix and it was lightly tossed. 5/5 Potato salad with dill,mayo, lemon juice: it was on the mushy side but tasted really good. 5/5. Baked beans Homemade lemonade Stuffed portobello with roasted veggies and topped with red pesto: options for vegetarians Food is 4.5/5. Their own bbq sauce is great it's sweet, tangy and adds a spicy kick to it. A catering t hat can handle more than 3000 people for a special event. Great service and excellent food. read more

I can't thank the staff enough for the incredible job they did for a group of 100 at Hagemann Park on May 19th. The food was amazing! We had the sliders, and they were easy to eat in a park setting, as well as delicious! They even had Mushroom Sliders for the vegetarians in our group. They set up quickly, the hot food stayed hot and the salads stayed cool. I got many compliments on both the food, and the way it was prepared and served. The potato salad, Cole slaw and beans were a great complement to the sliders. They even had horseradish for the tri-tip! I have only had the food at the Concannon winery events. This food is terrible..if I had that many people eating my food I would put something edible out there. The food is dry, heavy and lacks any originality. The workers are rude, talk about personal issues with customers standing right there. They tell other servers " make sure you don't give them any extra corn". REALLY! I always feel sick when I have eaten their tiny servings of food. No salads, no fruit, dry beans with white rice. We recently had Cabana Dave's cater a celebration of life for about 65 people. Roni was easy to work with and remained pleasant even as we made changes the week before the event. The staff arrived on time, set-up everything in an attractive manner and were eager to assist as needed. I can't speak entirely for the food as it was gobbled up by the attendees as I was talking to guests the entire time. Heard lots of compliments though. Ahhhh wedding planning, it's be real fun !! The most fun part was looking for a caterer. We both absolutly LOVE Dave and his food. We were planning on a community center wedding "originally", and so we did a tasting with Cabana Dave. We tried the following : 1. Chicken Marsala 2. Tri-Tip 3. Achioti Lime Chicken - this is a very different taste that was new to me and amazing !! 4. Tiger Ravioli's with white sauce 5. Mashed Potatoes 6. Wild Rice Pilaf 7. Mixed Veggies It would be hard for me to individually review each food item. That is because we were both so blown away by just how good the food was - every single thing he served us. If Dave had a restaurant these are all dishes I would be enjoying frequently. If you are in need of a caterer, I highly recommend Dave Victor. He is on top of his game, the food was amazing, his service was outstanding, and If things had worked out any other way he would have been our wedding caterer. He responded to my emails (and there wer many many many emails) within hours. Very nice guy on top of that who is obviously a seasoned professional. We chose Cabana Dave's to cater our June 9th wedding at a park south of San Jose. During the wedding planning, both Roni and Dave were very helpful, and very patient with all the shenanigans that I as the bride brought their way. Roni was very quick about responding to almost all correspondences, and made sure to send a revised copy of the contract whenever something was changed (even when unasked). They were flexible with accommodating many of our special requests and went far above and beyond expectations! Additionally, I appreciated both Roni and Dave's helpful, cheerful demeanor. Now the most important part: the food! If you want a wedding that doesn't have the standard chicken and beef and potatoes, Dave is your guy. We ordered the Cajun menu, with a really phenomenal salad, shrimp po-boy sliders, jambalaya, cajun mashed potatoes (a recipe made especially for us, since I am not a huge fan of sweet potatoes unless they are deep fried), and corn biscuits. I cannot even describe how delicious the sliders were. I was SO hyped up on the day of the wedding, that I could barely eat, but I made sure to finish my slider. The flavor was so complex and deep that you would never expect that it was wedding food. The red beans and rice were the best I have ever had. Again, a complex, pleasantly spicy flavor, with a great texture. My biggest regret at the wedding is not eating more of the wonderful food. Dave was personally staffing our wedding, and he made sure that my new husband and I always had enough food, and drink. He was very friendly with all the guests as well. Cabana Dave's provided the rentals through Pleasanton Rentals, and they helped set up the tables, and the dessert display, which turned out SO beautifully. They really are artists in display, I did not get to see the cheese display, but I was told it was very nice as well. The only drawback we had was that we wanted lemonade in a dispenser for the guests who did not drink, and this was substituted for Izze sodas (which were actually a cute addition, and the kids loved them, but some of the adults weren't as interested in drinking soda). Note: they reserve the right to make substitutions, and Dave worked with us to reimburse some of the cost of the lemonade, so it was a small issue. Overall, they worked very well with our difficult venue, and provided delicious food. I would recommend them! read more

Cabana Dave's has catered our annual End of Summer party for the last three years and has always done a fabulous job. We usually have about 125 to 140 guests for heavy hors d'oeuvres, and their staff does a good job keeping the food and drink flowing even with that many people. They have original menu offerings, so we're able to vary the menu from year to year, so it never gets old. The whole Tahitian roasted pig was a real hit at last year's party, and we especially enjoy the serving stations they set up around the yard so guests can sample a variety of items. When the party's over, they always do a great job cleaning up. All the trash is removed, the empty bottles collected for recycling and the first load of glassware is underway in the dishwasher. The wait staff were attentive and efficient as well as being warm and welcoming to guests. We have already scheduled them for next year! read more

Cabana Dave's catered our annual end-of-summer party for 140 guests and did a great job. There was always plenty of food available on the serving tables and they didn't let the bar area get backed up as can often happen when so many guests arrive at the same time. They set up several specialized serving stations to make waffles and other made-to-order items, adding some entertainment to the overall serving experience. We polled our guests and they all thought the food was high-quality, interesting and diverse. I always think event catering is more about the ballet of service than the food, and they adequately staffed our event with friendly, fun servers and bar tenders. No one ever had to wait for food and I didn't observe any lines queuing up at any of the serving stations. We look forward to using Cabana Dave's at our party again next year. read more

We were on a pretty tight budget and they came highly recommended from a friend that had used them a few years back for their wedding. We met with Dave, explained our budget and what we could do and he created an amazing menu for just the right price! We were so stressed out over the cost of food and Dave was a saving grace! We had passed appetizers at our wedding and a light dinner of pasta salad, tropical fruit, pulled pork sliders and portabello mushroom sliders (I'm a veggie!) ALL within our budget. Sooo Impressive! After spending entirely too long looking for a perfectly priced catering company for my Rehearsal dinner, I stumbled on Cabana Dave's - and they did not disappoint in quality and service while not breaking the bank! After reaching out - I was quickly contacted by Roni who helped me through the whole process, answering all my questions and providing me with multiple quote options so I could best choose our menu. She continued to keep communicating with me as we finalized the details, up until the week of the event, letting me know who to expect at the venue and at what time. She was very helpful in keeping the venue up to date as well with their plans. At the dinner, we had the pleasure of being served by Emma and Jeremy who were beyond welcoming, helpful, timely and kind. We hired Cabana Dave's for our Caribbean themed backyard party. As my husband's family is Puerto Rican, we asked if we could tweak the menu to add more Spanish influence. Roni relayed our requests to their chef and we got the menu we wanted. The pernil (marinated pork) was the biggest hit, even, and especially, among those most familiar with Puerto Rican cuisine. The budin de pan (bread pudding with creme anglais) was the next biggest hit, but absolutely everything was delicious. Leftovers were packaged up beautifully and we enjoyed them the next day with our out-of-town guests who stayed over. Dave (owner and our bartender), Tim, and JoAnn were organized and friendly. We left everything in their hands and just enjoyed our friends and family. What more could you ask for? I was at a wedding in Livermore this weekend and was delighted when I found out the Cabana Dave's was catering! The chicken was awesome (again). I got to try the pork tenderloin, which was juicy and delicious. The sweet potatoes did not disappoint (might be my favorite side). And there was this chutney that I drizzled on my cornbread that was started off sweet, and then brought the heat! Excellent! And to top it off, I got to meet Dave (THE Cabana Dave). Tall guy, but super friendly (like the rest of his staff) and cool to talk to. Looking forward to my next meal from Cabana Dave's! read more
