My fave restaurant in LG village. Ate here on 3 occasions and this place did not disappoint. Prices are reasonable. Food is delicious and quick service. The lavash is freshly made in a fire oven. I'm honestly disappointed with Ali Baba Express. I've been coming here over 12 years visiting Lake George with my family since their food was delicious, but this year everything wasn't as good as it used to be! Their menu was different: smaller and basic. I have no idea why I saw an Italian dish on there for a halal restaurant. Their food looked and tasted pre-cooked from frozen: just dry and apportioned on the plate like a cafeteria platter, almost. All on fast food paper plates and plastic utensils. Their service was very poor. Not once did our waitress check on us to see if we needed anything. Just took our order, then gave us our check at the end. I'm guessing it was the owner who came to give us our food; a tall man with a grey mustache. I don't know if the changes are because of the Covid pandemic, but whatever it is, the restaurant should make some changes to go back to what they used to be. I'm just so so disappointed. read more

Lots of promise, little delivery. The waitresses are very nice and helpful, unfortunately the food is lacking. Lamb Shish kebab was just chewy meat with rice, and cold string beans and a surprisingly good good Turkish "pico", the only thing that was very tasty. I once visited a McDonald's somewhere in Midtown that served a Michelin-star worthy meal as compared to this sad excuse for a restaurant. The mezzes were soggy to the point it felt like we were dipping our breads in slush. Then came the horrible cheap meat claiming to be a kabab served with worse than Chinese takeout rice alongside awkward string beans. I was hoping some extra sauces might help give our dead meal some life but alas even the sauces had no taste and looked like they've been sitting there since last Labor Day. We were up in the Lake George area and saw the great reviews for this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for a quick lunch. Once again, we were not let down. Both the husband and I got gyros. I went with the chicken and he went with the beef and lamb. If I had to chose again, I think I'd definitely go with the beef and lamb. The chicken wasn't bad, the beef/lamb was just that delicious. There was a bit too much yogurt sauce for my taste, but that was easily resolved. Overall, the service was good and I have no complaints. Looking for good places for vegetarian wasnt too difficult though it was interesting to see yelp ratings for restaurants in Lake George didnt exceed three stars, us city folk must be hard to please! I've decided this restaurant deserved praise. All ten of us ordered different items (vegetarian at that) and we all LOVED the food. Top preference was for the Vegetarian Iskender which had a delicious gravy, falafel plate, the bread they served was incredible, warm and tasty, went well with their yogurt sauce which was different than most from turkish restaurants. Overall the food was tastier than much of what we get here in Boston, definitely something I am missing now that I am back home! The waitress was super friendly, even though she and the two others working at the restaurant were trying to serve ~ 50 people with another 25 people waiting at the door over labor day weekend. Major props to someone who can pull that off! We loved the food so much, we took some to go on our way out of Lake George the next day. Do not leave lake George without visiting this restaurant. For a place on the main strip of lake George their prices are very fare! I ordered the lamb and beef gyro. Lamb tasted like it could be the "processed" gyro meat. I know it may seem like I'm degrading the place, but I'm really not. The food still tasted delicious. Just not like back home in CT. I would definitely go back, esp to try a lamb entree dish. A lot of negative reviews about every place on this strip and I was angry about going out. I'll eat at a food truck or a 3 star Michelin restaurant, so I take restaurants seriously. While visiting Lake George, I stumbled on Ali Baba Express and after dining there I was glad I took a chance. The food rivals the best Turkish in my area and was packed with flavor. The rice was perfect and the meats were well trimmed. The biggest plus was the cost, for Lake George, it was very inexpensive. I would definitely recommend trying them out.
