My fave restaurant in LG village. Ate here on 3 occasions and this place did not disappoint. Prices are reasonable. Food is delicious and quick service. The lavash is freshly made in a fire oven. Food was served on paper plates with plastic utensils, but don't let that deter you in the slightest. The salmon was crispy and tender, but not super heavy like other salmon dishes I've had. I'm honestly disappointed with Ali Baba Express. I've been coming here over 12 years visiting Lake George with my family since their food was delicious, but this year everything wasn't as good as it used to be! Their menu was different: smaller and basic. I have no idea why I saw an Italian dish on there for a halal restaurant. Their food looked and tasted pre-cooked from frozen: just dry and apportioned on the plate like a cafeteria platter, almost. All on fast food paper plates and plastic utensils. Their service was very poor. Not once did our waitress check on us to see if we needed anything. Just took our order, then gave us our check at the end. I'm guessing it was the owner who came to give us our food; a tall man with a grey mustache. I don't know if the changes are because of the Covid pandemic, but whatever it is, the restaurant should make some changes to go back to what they used to be. I'm just so so disappointed. read more

We were up in the Lake George area and saw the great reviews for this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try for a quick lunch. Once again, we were not let down. Both the husband and I got gyros. I went with the chicken and he went with the beef and lamb. If I had to chose again, I think I'd definitely go with the beef and lamb. The chicken wasn't bad, the beef/lamb was just that delicious. There was a bit too much yogurt sauce for my taste, but that was easily resolved. Overall, the service was good and I have no complaints. Ok, thank god there is a place to yell and shout about an awesome restaurant. My family (of 10 people) and I visited Lake George for the long weekend. Looking for good places for vegetarian wasnt too difficult though it was interesting to see yelp ratings for restaurants in Lake George didnt exceed three stars, us city folk must be hard to please! I've decided this restaurant deserved praise. All ten of us ordered different items (vegetarian at that) and we all LOVED the food. Top preference was for the Vegetarian Iskender which had a delicious gravy, falafel plate, the bread they served was incredible, warm and tasty, went well with their yogurt sauce which was different than most from turkish restaurants. Overall the food was tastier than much of what we get here in Boston, definitely something I am missing now that I am back home! The waitress was super friendly, even though she and the two others working at the restaurant were trying to serve ~ 50 people with another 25 people waiting at the door over labor day weekend. Major props to someone who can pull that off! We loved the food so much, we took some to go on our way out of Lake George the next day. Do not leave lake George without visiting this restaurant. Only downside was that the food was a bit pricey, though I forgive them for the tremendous quality in service and delicious food! read more

I kept calling the place and no one answered the phone. Decided that maybe it was busy, so I went over to order. I live very close to a number of Turkish restaurants and love to eat at them when I get a chance. While visiting Lake George, I stumbled on Ali Baba Express and after dining there I was glad I took a chance. The food rivals the best Turkish in my area and was packed with flavor. The rice was perfect and the meats were well trimmed. The biggest plus was the cost, for Lake George, it was very inexpensive. I would definitely recommend trying them out. My daughter was rewarded for being adventurous. she had the Lamb Shish and was very happy. She even liked the rice - not her favorite food. My wife's falafel was the best I have ever had. I once visited a McDonald's somewhere in Midtown that served a Michelin-star worthy meal as compared to this sad excuse for a restaurant. The mezzes were soggy to the point it felt like we were dipping our breads in slush. Then came the horrible cheap meat claiming to be a kabab served with worse than Chinese takeout rice alongside awkward string beans. I was hoping some extra sauces might help give our dead meal some life but alas even the sauces had no taste and looked like they've been sitting there since last Labor Day. I'm not a fan of being in Lake George village during the summer time due to the crazy amount of people around, the miserable traffic and the kitschy stores than line the main drag. Unfortunately I needed to grab some food on my way out of town and wanted to find something interesting to munch on. Fortunately, I found the Ali Baba Express on Yelp and was smart enough to walk over and peer through the window. I was delighted to see a wood fired oven installed and on prominent display and that sealed the deal. We ordered a gyro medium spicy (offered with spicy sauce or not) and the humus which came with one of their fresh baked pillows of lavash bread. They came out at the same time which was fine with us an we dug right in. The lavash bread comes out beautifully puffy and hot from the wood fired oven and beautifully cooked with sesame seeds on the top with a smattering of olive oil. Nice flavor and it worked perfectly with the humus and the yogurt sauce (basically a tzatziki sauce). Both the humus and the tzatziki sauce were tangy and had plenty of fresh garlic taste. The humus really stood out with the flavor of olives from the olive oil and was perfectly fresh tasting. Probably the best humus I've ever had. The gyro was reasonably sized and was spiced appropriately for what we ordered. I wouldn't say the meat stood out as anything special but it was definitely tasty. The sauces inside complemented the meat and veggies although there was a lot of them and it became a bit on the messy side. Not unexpected but still something worth noting. The bread for the sandwich was a modified version of the lavash and appeared to have been freshly baked as well which was a nice touch. Next time I find myself stuck in Lake George and needing some food I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again! read more

The inside of the restaurant is cozy with Middle Eastern decor on the walls, the wall oven also made it comfy. Their menu is absolutely ghetto, places in Oakland and Baltimore have more professional looking menu's than they did. It consisted of pictures of the dish in a laminated book. We ordered the lamb/beef gyro and the mixed grill to share. As hungry as we were I let the fact that the gyro was frozen Krono's (insult to real Turkish doner) pass. Every turkish place I go to the rice differs from the previous place just like this one did. The mixed grill was $23 (a bit pricey) but it was tasty, flavorful, and hit the spot. It also contained these small pieces of bread, the size of croutons which ended up containing the meat juice from the plate. The Turkish Tea here was great, it really helped my congestion hehe. This place is one of the most reviewed restaurants in Lake George and it's highly rated for a reason. *A note that they don't give white or hot sauce with the meal so ask for it when the food comes. read more

The food here is awful, some of the worst I've eaten in a while. The green beans were served cold, I suspect taken straight out of a can and not even reheated. The chicken was tough and greasy (possibly frozen). The falafel was mushy and bland. And amazingly, they have signs up asking for five-star reviews. We ran into this place quite randomly and yet the food here turned out to be the most amazing middle eastern dinner I have ever had. They have absolutely the best pita bread and curry lamb ever! Place was busy, once in I asked the waitress for a table for 5, but since our little one is just 5 she decided to seat us at a 4 ppl table to save space, when we complained table was too small owner said nothing he can do cause he has waiting list, no one was waiting but he wanted to keep bigger tables for a bigger group. He had bad attitude as well. Service was fast and decent, place was clean and nice, food portion was small for the price. We ordered 4 different orders, the meats were marinated for quite some time, it was soft with lots of spices, side veggies were not fresh at all, rice was either under or overcooked, homemade bread isn't fully baked. Since I eat turkish food everywhere including in turkey I dont recommend this place as an example of turkish cousin, I also see the ratings for the place to be too high for food quality, value or hospitality, I ordered Iskender kabob for 18$ and left hungry. I originally gave the place two stars, but I edited toe review and removed a star after the amount of gas this food gave me, hardly slept last night. read more

I Came here Memorial day weekend on my visit to Lake George. I wanted good food but I was disappointed. I had the lamb sheskabob, fiancee had the combo with chicken and lamb chop. Our meals were served with basmati rice, some kind of pickled slaw and bread cubes.? Only sauce avaible for this dish was Red pepper based. Menu seemed like greek and indian fusion. Ive had better Mediterranean food in brooklyn.The food was bland to me. I added salt and peppert o everything. Not sure what the rave is. The placed was packed with people so I figured I must be in the right place. Dont let that fool you. I just think people try here because its different from the strip italian, burger joint eateries in the area. Service was shotty. I understand busy but our waitress was just rude......not sure if she was being prejudice or just did not give a f¥€( . It sad to see people act like that in 2014. REALLY! Better for large groups. Not really a date spot. Noise level is more like a burgr joint/ cafeteria. Spent$ 52. Was not worth it. The only thing that I really enjoyed was my fresh peach juice. I wont be back here.
