Summary: Don't trust them. There are plenty of HVAC repair companies. Avoid this one, and find one that will treat you with respect and act with integrity. Asked their technician to come out to perform an inspection and provide a report for potential home buyers. They failed to provide the service and have failed to follow up on phone calls and emails. The report was a simple invoice with notes. This would have been acceptable except for the report containing notes contradicting the verbal report the technician gave. They added notes such as "could crack any day" and "recommend replacement" immediately after noting the HVAC system was in good condition. I don't appreciate their effort to gain business at my expense, their dishonesty adding notes to the report they never discussed verbally during their inspection, or their lack of customer service. These issues were shared with them in an attempt to resolve them and they have not responded (phone or email) since they said they would get back to me over a month ago. They do not care about addressing customer concerns or following through on the service they promise. read more

We have been loyal customers for almost 15 years and I have previously left very good reviews as they used to be very reliable and prompt. However, after our latest experience, we will no longer be using this company. About 3 weeks ago our water heater (which we bought through them) started leaking. We called immediately, got an appointment and they sent a guy out within a couple of days. He came and looked at it, said oh your leak is in a weird place so we'll see if the heater is still under warranty. Ok, fine. He didn't fix anything but said if we needed a new one they would give us some prices and options. A week goes by with no word so my husband calls and they say they are still trying to negotiate with the company to get us some sort of refund. Ok....water heater still leaking but would be nice to not have to pay more than we have to. At that point we get ghosted. No follow up calls, nothing. This morning our water heater springs a giant leak and water is all over our basement! I call and am told sorry nothing we can do, you'll have to call Home Depot and have them put one in!!!!! REALLY??!! After 3 weeks there is NOTHING you can do?? I would have been fine if they had said hey it will take a day or two but we will take care of it. Nope! Nothing! After this many years. We weren't expecting immediate service but any service at all would have been nice!! Do not waste your time or money. I'm sure there are other local companies that are not big conglomerates like Home Depot who need the work. We are looking to find one now. read more

Just moved into a new house and called their office to schedule a furnace cleaning and tune up. Much to my surprise someone actually answered the phone, that did not happen at my old residence. Incredible Super Heroes! In the movies, the first thing we see a hero do in order to win our hearts is some small act of kindness or warm-heartedness and gentleness. Screen writers call it "saving the cat". Just recently Algonquin Heating & Air-conditioning did just that for my family! They literally saved our cat! She had crawled down through a floor heating duct and got stuck. Very stuck. Like no way out but to take the tube down and pry it apart stuck--in a crawlspace! (I know, I know. I should never have removed the register.) The technicians they sent out could not have been kinder, more eager to help---and expert at their craft! They crawled on their hands an knees over pea gravel all the way over to where the cat was, disconnected and pulled down the very long tube, gently pried some of it apart, and with lots of patience and gentleness, coaxed the cat out. They even led the charge in catching her as she ran all over my crawl space scared out of her wits!! After all of that, they did a free checkup of my furnace (including a new air filter) and taped up a bad spot in my duct work that substantially improved the air flow! That, in turn, eliminated my urges to pop off my floor registers to try to get more heat or A/C into my little home studio. The cat was saved and the furnace air flow works so much better now! THE END (roll the credits) Epilogue: After about three days, our cat finally calmed down, came out of hiding and is doing fine. Although she is right now, at this very moment, as I'm writing this, sniffing around at the very register where she was previously stuck --and I'm not making this up! to quote Dave Barry. But, you know what they say about cats and curiosity..... I'm on to you, cat. That register is never coming off again! I was told by the receptionist that a technician would call me back with pricing and schedule an appointment. I waited all day and received no call from this company. They have poor communication and customer service at this location. I will never use this company again. read more

I have used Algonquin heating and air for many years and sorry to say Wednesday was my last day. They were great when I called on Monday when one of my furnaces was not starting up when we were on our way home. By the time we got home my furnace it started so when their technician got here I let him know that it was up and running but we'd like him to go ahead and clean both furnaces. He was here for a while and then came upstairs and told me that the office said he was unable to do cleanings today because of emergencies. At that time they tried to charge me for what I don't know and I was clear I would not be paying anything since I let Adam know the moment he got there that it was up and running. At that time he did tell me that my condensate pump wasn't working I said well please give me a quote. Before he left he wrote me out an invoice for the cleanings that they would come back to do. They came back on Wednesday, January 12 and Adam did the cleanings. I'm not sure if there was some confusion or what but he also said there was gonna be a diagnostic charge on the pump that didn't work. He agreed with me and couldn't figure out why there would be a diagnostic charge since we knew it didn't work. He finally gave me a quote on the condensate pump and it was $550 to replace it. As he was doing the cleaning so I said let me think about it and I want to look up the cost of the part. He was able to take the pump off and put it back on in about 15 or 20 minutes the one that didn't work. I found out that the condensate pump that I needed was $57. I asked him about this since they were charging $550. So essentially they were going to be charging me $500 to put this pump on for something I was going to take less than a half hour. I told him that I felt like they were no longer interested in my business. He said that was not the case but they have to charge for various different things. I feel like they were charging me for something that I wouldn't be willing to pay. I was able to reach Brian who used to work for them and he is doing it for $69. I have recommended them many times so it is disappointing that I will no longer be using them. read more

Answered all my questions and explained what he was doing each step. I appreciated his concern for getting the job done right, yet not overcharging me. Called at 8 AM with broken furnace and no heat. Was told they could get someone out in the afternoon and they would call. Adjusted schedule and waited all afternoon for call that never came. Called again at 4:45 for status update, but only got answering machine. By 5:30pm I had to call another contractor as I had no heat and outside temps going into the mid 30's overnight. No heat in winter is the worst situation. I called them at about 6pm, they were able to come out to evaluate my situation the next morning. (About as good as I can expect. I didn't need, or want to pay for, any "emergency" service). Tech was able to reset a safety, but was puzzled why it tripped in the first place. He spent a good half hour or more evaluating the unit, explaining to me the usual causes and potential options. 2 hours after he left it tripped again and he came out promptly a second time. This time he suggested the repair would not be worth it on a 20+ year old furnace. (I already knew that and was prepared for a new furnace). Next morning they came out again and installed the brand new Lennox and I have heat again. Very knowledgeable tech. Very clean, polite and capable. Everything during the attempted repair and install were explained clearly with no B.S. thrown my way. I can't comment on price compared to others, but I left the experience with complete confidence that I wasn't being scammed and got all the work done by a competent professional. read more
