Alexanders skillet, eggs "over easy" - A foam takeout container contains a breakfast meal with two fried eggs on top of cooked meat, possibly bacon or sausage, and chopped vegetables. The eggs are sunny side up with runny yolks, and the dish appears to be a skillet-style breakfast. The container is placed on a wooden table, with a remote control visible nearby.

Ordered eggs over easy and this is what I got. Not the first time unfortunately. Especially frustrating because I paid extra for a third egg.

Ended up here because Honeybear is basically impossible to get to but I'm so glad I ended up at Alexander's. Who needs Honeybear cafe and their 1+ hr wait when Alexander's is just a mile down the road and our wait was just 15 mins tops? They have a really great $11.11 deal where you get coffee, juice, pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and a meat of your choice. It's $1 for toppings but I only had 3 slices of strawberries BUT I'm not even mad because I got so much for $11.11. The service was so great and I enjoyed my time there. The music was great and I felt like I had a really nice diner experience. Loved it 10/10

#4. Mexican Skillet I think - A breakfast meal includes a plate of pancakes with syrup, a skillet dish topped with a fried egg and vegetables, and a cup of black coffee. The table also has a water spray bottle, a spoon, a smartphone, and a small container of syrup. The setting appears to be in a restaurant with a marble tabletop and a window nearby.

The food here always slaps and the staff is always really nice. 10/10 perfect cozy diner.

A breakfast dish with two fried eggs, sunny side up, placed on top of cooked chicken, bean sprouts, and vegetables in a brown ceramic dish. The eggs have slightly crispy edges and runny yolks, with some yolk visible. The dish appears to be served on a white plate with a decorative brown line pattern. The background shows a white surface, possibly a table or countertop.

Alexander's is a hidden gem that I discovered via Yelp. I was randomly searching for a new breakfast place and came across Alexander's. I can attest that the reviews for this place is warranted. The inside of the restaurant is large enough to accommodate multiple groups of four. They also have a lot of solo sitting at the countertop. During my initial visit I went during one of the busiest times in the morning and I didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Even if it is busy the staff are a well oiled machine in which they quickly get the food out, clear tables, and get out the to-go orders. It's impressive to witness because they are very busy. Our waitress was very friendly even though so was swamped with tables. I will say that due to Alexander's being so busy the staff has to wear many hats. Our waitress towards the end of our dining experience had to be flagged down to get our bill because she was wrapping silverware. I commend the staff for staying positive instead of getting frustrated. The pancakes are really tasty. I normally don't like a lot of pancakes from diners but they were surprisingly tasty. They didn't feel like pre-frozen pancakes. The skillet was jam packed with meat. At first I thought it was light on meat until I lifted the egg and realized the meat had mostly shifted to one side. The quality of the skillet wasn't anything to phone home about but they give you enough food to easily have two meals. I really liked the homemade orange juice, it was fresh tasting.

A rectangular yellow sign with black lettering displays the name 'Alexander's' and the words 'BREAKFAST LUNCH DINNER' beneath it. The sign features a downward-pointing arrow with light bulbs along its edges, indicating the location of the restaurant. The sign is suspended by chains against a clear blue sky, with a brick building with decorative architectural elements visible below.

I stopped into this diner because of a recommendation from the shop a few doors down while I waited for them to finish on my car. The food was excellent. I got the $11.11 special in the window and man the pancakes were super fluffy and soft! I thought the bacon was a little too overdone but the sausage was great!! It's a cute diner with a homey no frills feel to it with friendly service. I will definitely be back!

I freaking LOVE Reuben sandwiches. LOVE. Tried one here. So good. Came out quickly, and made me very, very happy. Perfect proportions of kraut to meat AND 1000 island dressing. Buttery rye and gooey Swiss cheese. It was not one of those overdone, giant sandwiches that make you feel bloated after eating. This one was a nice size, but not too big - I am not a fan of overstuffed American plates. Comes with a pickle and a slice of tomato, just so you can get some plant matter in ya. BUT that Reuben! It was yummy. My BF had a Patty Melt, and it was also very tasty - done to order, medium rare. The stand out, though, was the Lentil soup! Usually lentil soup can be bland, but this was not! Slightly tangy, and a good sized bowl. I'd come back just for this. Fantastic, friendly staff. Said their food was made with love, and it shows. Simple interior, somewhat threadbare, but spotlessly clean and with a lot of character. Bathrooms spotlessly clean. Nice touch of a hand washing sink outside the toilet room - I always like that. Am anxiously awaiting their new outpost on Montrose, as it's closer to me. YAY! Will be back, though!

Side of Hash Brown Potatoes - A photograph shows cooked hash brown potatoes with a mix of browned, crispy sections and softer, lighter areas. The potatoes are shredded and appear to be freshly cooked, with some pieces showing darker, well-browned edges. The food is contained in a black container, and the image emphasizes the texture and color variation of the hash browns.

This is my first time eating at this restaurant and I definitely recommend. The portions are large so be prepared to eat or put some away for later. We ordered via food delivery and my child got the pancakes and bacon. We got a side of hash brown potatoes and a build your own skillet with some raisin toast. Again the portions were enough for 2-3 people to eat off the skillet with seconds on the side of potatoes. The food was delicious and we recommend this restaurant.

Ordered via UberEats. Paid for priority delivery and food still arrived ice cold. Meatloaf entrée was very reminiscent of what was served in my 3rd grade school cafeteria. Disgusting and will NEVER order from this place again. Yucko!

The staff were really welcoming, for an early morning. I got the hot chocolate. Honestly that's exactly what I needed that morning. It had that real Mexican chocolate taste. Thick, creamy, smooth and rich. The cinnamon came through warm but not too strong, plus a little extra on top that hit your nose before the first sip. Sweet and it almost had this slight earthy note too... hard to explain but good. It even had that little design on top, like the ones they do on cappuccinos. Didn't expect that but it was cool. I finished it slow. Didn't wanna rush it. Just sat there taking small sips and enjoying it while it was still hot.

Set in an old warehouse that is now an art gallery event space and restaurant nestled in an older warehouse district in Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago. Beautiful decor and laid out perfectly. The natural wood floors furniture ie tables chairs etc and iron work throughout sets the ambiance for old meets new. It works. The wide spacing between tables makes for a comfortable dining experience. So many folks come in to do their work and dine here. What a super addition to the neighborhood that less than a decade ago was essentially a street that was more a run down semi-truck alley. Great menu with neighborhood favorites leaning toward the old school Italian dishes. Sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfasts just to name a few are all excellent. The pastries are insane and a must take home deal. I love the American Breakfast. Three eggs your way, thick diced America potatoes, thick cut bacon, and sourdough toast. Accompanied by what I believe to be home made jelly and for sure homemade gardiniera. Caruso's gardiniera actually. Diced into a relish unlike most standard gardiniera it's easier to eat with many dishes. Excellent flavor and just the right kick to it. FYI Dolce Arte also sells a to go line of homemade Caruso products from their gardiniera to past and past sauces and more. Yes, their coffee is really good too. Lavazza products I believe. The service is always on point. Casual but on point. Very friendly staff from diverse backgrounds. This is the place you bring people close to you, business lunches, meetings, formal ir informal, or like me, save it for myself as my own getaway spot. Why would you not order a flight to try a variety of drinks all at once? We had the hibiscus lemonade and matcha flight, the mango con crema and banana con crema were the standouts. The staff--at least the person who helped me--didn't feel super welcoming. Not that they were rude, just not particularly warm either. I get it though, because even I get a little irritable when it's hot, so maybe that played a part. What I love the most is that it's Latina-owned, and that's something I truly admire. I always try to support Latino entrepreneurs when they're doing things right, and this place is definitely doing something creative. We ordered two flights--one with coffee and one with matcha. Each flight comes with four small samples, and they were all seasonal fall flavors, which I thought was such a fun and unique idea. It's cool because you get to try different drinks in little cups, almost like a tasting experience. The coffee flight (we got it iced) was amazing--the flavors were bold and had that strong coffee taste I personally love. The matcha flight was also fun, but I would have preferred a stronger matcha flavor in some of them. They also have plenty of milk options--we ordered ours with oat milk and it was delicious. On top of that, they have a pretty wide food menu with bagels, sandwiches, wraps, and more. We tried the tuna sandwich and it was really good, definitely worth recommending. The café has little chairs outside, the vibe inside is cozy, and I loved that they were playing Spanish music. That's something you don't usually find in most coffee shops here, and it gave the place extra personality. The only thing I'm still unsure about is the price. For two flights (coffee + matcha) and the sandwich, the total was around $55. Maybe that's a bit expensive--or maybe it's just the nature of ordering flights, since I had never tried that before. Either way, it was worth it for the experience and the flavors. In short, it's a cute, cozy, and creative spot that's definitely worth checking out--especially if you're into seasonal flavors, want to try something unique, and love supporting Latina-owned businesses in Chicago.
