i really don't want to leave a bad review but i did not have a good experience. my haircut was done very sloppily. after i left, i noticed several pieces that weren't even cut (see photo). i requested curtain bangs and they turned out completely lopsided with one bang being much larger than the other one. the hairdresser didn't section my hair out or check to make sure everything was even. i'm very disappointed since i spent money on this haircut and i'm going to have to go to another salon to get the haircut fixed. maybe i just caught them on a bad day! read more

Plan to not be reached for an appointment with Sam until at least a half an hour after your have scheduled it. And he will not come over to you to even say that he is sorry or what occurred him to cause you to need to wait so long. He books at least three people at a time. So, the last time as I just sat with my hair wet waiting for him and it was a half an hour after my scheduled appointment, I saw that he was finishing up a hair cut on a young man and thought that he would now come to me. Instead, he started to shampoo that man's hair -- YIKES! he has never shampooed my hair, always leaving that to a young woman, so I knew that this guy must have been someone "special" and that I would not be reached for awhile. So, as I had already tipped the young woman who wached my hair $5.00, I proceeded to the desk and told them that I was leaving and gave them $10 for the shampoo, telling them that I aways pay my way. I have not heard anything from Sam nor anyone to apologize for that treatment and I am sure that Sam, as smug as he is, has just said "NEXT" and dismissed me. Perhaps it is because I am a Senior Citizen and he just thought that I could wait. Well, I am a Senior Citizen and an Attorney who bills by the hour, unlike him, as he bills by the "service" so if he keeps people waiting, he still can charge them by the service. The wifey had an appointment at 1pm, first time here but have heard and seen many good things on socials. As we entered (street parking was easy to find) we were greeted and seated after checking in. Her stylist for the appointment was originally Javier when booking online, but another stylist ended up picking up her appointment (probably Javier's client was still being taken care of) so Santiago stepped in! I must say the entire staff is friendly and super nice / accommodating. The host gentlemen was very nice they told me how long her hair may take and for me to get comfy or take a walk around Brookline which i opted to do. Grabbed some brunch sandwich and brought back a bagel for the lady. When i came back they had already gotten foil in and took a break to wait, so Santiago actually told us to move over to one of the couches to eat together. She opted for a Balayage? Haha and i left to go chill for a while all in all, under 3 hours to finish and she came out stunning! As long as she loved the hair I'm happy too! I had a somewhat bizarre experience at Alexander Salon a while ago and forgot to post my review so doing it belatedly! In summary: even if it's a bit chaotic, stick with it for a phenomenal haircut. Alexander Salon has a very warm friendly atmosphere, but it was very busy (supplemented by the dog running around!). I had an appointment with Nader, and when I arrived, the receptionist immediately washed my hair. I was a bit confused because I had not had any kind of consultation about my hair type or desired cut, but I stuck with it. I then had to wait, and Nader came by a few times to apologize for running late. After about 15 min, we spoke briefly about what I wanted and he cut my hair--as other reviews shared it was a real show with scissor flourishes and spins. The actual haircut was very fast and then Nader said that other hairdressers would blow dry my hair while he moved on to other clients. What proceeded was three different stylists each came by, blew dry parts of my hair before being called away to do another task, leaving my hair half-dried and hanging in round brushes until the next one showed up. Finally one man finished up and after Nader was done filming what looked like a before/after transformation for instagram with another client, he came by for a finishing touch. During the experience I was pretty doubtful and while everyone was polite, it wasn't the smoothest customer service experience. I didn't realize Nader was handling multiple clients at the same time and with all the hairdryers leaving mid-service it felt like I wasn't important enough to receive anyone's full attention. However, my hair looked incredible, the blow out lasted for a full week, and my hair continued to look incredible after washing and regardless of whether I curled or straightened it. I've never received so many compliments and almost a year later, now in a different state, I'm looking at photos of that haircut as a reference. This may have been an unusually busy day so grain of salt. But, overall, if you're looking for the classic bouncy layered haircut with face-framing pieces this is your place!! This was my second visit to the salon and I was able to get an appointment with Sam the first time and Nader the second time. Both are very skilled and very pleasant to talk to. On my latest visit I explained what I wanted mostly just some curtain bangs and volume, but left the decision making to him for styling. Nader delivered! I was blown away with my southern belle hair. VA VA VOOM! My hair is very straight and very fine. It has also felt much thinner after having kids. I had no idea it could look so good and voluminous! Super chill salon, pretty sure there's always a dog in there. The salon is busy and it's best to book appointments in advance as availability is limited. I have been looking for a proficient and skilled hairstylist for awhile and I think I have found one in the name of Nader at Alexander Salon. I have very straight Asian hair so getting my hair into a particular style takes a bit of technique. Nader did an absolutely brilliant job! He gave me a medium length, slightly wedged graduated bob--one of the best haircuts I've ever had. He demonstrated great technique in parting my hair into sections and exercised great judgement as to length, angle and graduation. I usually don't write reviews but I came in for a wash and blow dry and had a really disappointing experience with Osman. From the start, everything felt rushed. At the sink, my hair was shampooed very quickly (maybe twice), and I didn't feel any conditioner at all. If conditioner was used, it was done so fast that it made no difference. There was no scalp massage, and he wrung out my hair very roughly, pulling on it while it was still wet and delicate. The blow-dry itself was uncomfortable. Osman was combing through my hair pretty roughly and often wasn't even looking at what he was doing, which wasted so much time. A good amount of the time, the blow dryer was blowing more on my shoulder than on my hair because his attention was elsewhere. Then he started using the round brushes, and it got worse. He pulled my head in different directions and burned my scalp frequently. I flinched multiple times, but he never adjusted the heat, changed his technique, or apologized. When it came time to remove the brushes, he even pulled most of them straight out instead of gently unraveling them, which caused even more pulling and damage. To make things worse, no heat protectant or styling products were used at all, except for an excessive amount of hairspray at the very end. The smell was so strong it was honestly nauseating. I had high hopes because of all the positive reviews and while Osman was polite (when he was paying attention) the overall experience felt careless and uncomfortable. I decided to go there before Christmas 2024. I booked Charbel K with Color & Full + Cut only. I was charged $360. I gave him $65 tips. Unfortunately, when I came back home, after taking a photo of my back, I realized that he only colored front of my hair, not back. I talked to the owner. He suggested to come back and take care my hair. So, I schedule another appointment on New Year's Eve. The owner was nice. He did a full highlight of my hair. After an hour of work, he asked his wife to wash my hair. His wife bleached my whole hair in a second instead to wash my hair. My hair looks totally blonde... but with broken hair, flight like snow fluke to everywhere when the owner trying to dry my hair. In the end, they charged me $100 additional and plus 20 tips. I feel horrible and miserable since the Christmas Eve with hair color, I spent over $500 on my hair at this place, my hair, now, looks so broken, looks so cheap, the color looks so fake and incomplete, I am not able to fix it by other hair dresser. I feel so speechless and so hopeless with this place. I hope others can learn from my miserable. Found Alexander Salon & Spa one day when I was just searching for a new hair salon to try & desperately wanted my hair done ASAP. I was able to snag an appointment for the next day. Prices are reasonable! Honestly, for a balayage, it was a great deal that I felt I couldn't pass up. I usually get full foil highlights but I decided to go with a balayage + trim. I got to the appointment about 10 min early & it was packed inside the salon. Waited about 20 minutes after my appointment time before getting seated. I believe I ended up getting a different hairdresser than the one I had booked with, which was fine; I had noticed that the person I originally booked was still busy + occupied with another client midway through my appt. Overall, my experience was pleasant; no complaints here. I got a warm balayage and it didn't take long at all. I used to see Santiago at Alexander Salon and always had a fantastic experience. Since he left, I've seen Nader a couple of times. On the positive side, Nader gives a great haircut, he's friendly, and the rest of the salon staff are welcoming. It's also clear he's one of the busiest stylists. That said, my overall experience has been inconsistent. The first time I booked with Nader, I waited over an hour past my appointment time. The haircut itself was excellent, so I returned, booking an early morning appointment weeks in advance to avoid delays--and again, the haircut was good. The keratin treatment, however, was disappointing. It was handled by a trainee who struggled with basics like blow-drying and applying the treatment thoroughly throughout the hair, especially at the roots, where it matters most. She seemed unfamiliar with the process and occasionally looked unsure, as if trying to finish quickly. Other stylists were friendly and tried to help by showing her how to blow-dry my hair properly. The process took an hour longer than my previous treatment with Santiago, and the results were mediocre. I was charged significantly more than last time. Normally I wouldn't mind, since I know I have thick hair, but paying that much for work that wasn't done properly felt unfair. It's a shame, because my first keratin experience at Alexander Salon was excellent. Unfortunately, the inconsistency and end-to-end experience have left me disappointed. read more
