Maybe I'm spoiled from growing up in Dearborn. But I've yet to find any middle eastern place comparable. I love the convenience of this place because it's so close to home. They do have amazing hummus and garlic. But everything else seems to be hit or miss. This was my 2nd sandwich as the first one was already falling apart when I got home. Sometimes bigger isn't better. I do always go back and give them more chances because their customer service is also great.

I don't even like garlic sauce! But their's is delicious!!! It is not overpowering. My son ordered Shish Kafta lunch special, I had the Shish Tawook. We both had rice. I had lentil soup while he had the salad. Every single bite of every single thing was absolute Heaven and the tomatoes were the freshest I've tasted in a long time! And the bread is hot and oh so wonderful!! Oh, and I also had a banana and strawberry smoothie with a mango base. Also Heaven. We also had the nicest server, Salem. I just can't say enough wonderful!!! Beautiful, nice, clean, friendly place. Absolutely 5 stars! 10 of 10!

Carry Out Review: Picked up an order from Alex Kabab House yesterday evening after a quick Yelp search of the area as I had a taste for Middle Eastern food I ordered the chicken shawarma bowl with French fries as the base of the bowl, rice is also an option. The bowl comes with grilled chicken, feta cheese, pickles and garlic sauce. I also ordered a small fatoosh salad, which came with pita bread. The meal was outstanding. The chicken grilled was moist and flavorful. I loved the brine on the pickles, and the french fries were fresh and still a little crispy underneath the toppings. The salad was fresh and crisp with a delicious dressing. I mixed both together for the ultimate gluttonous meal. The restaurant is easily found on Eureka Road in Southgate. They offer an extensive menu with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. Catering is available. The dining room is spacious and seats lots of diners. The restaurant has its own parking lot, which is well lit and accessible to the front door. I definitely recommend Alex Kabob House. read more

Excellent food! Ambience component is irrelevant for takeouts like this, if you do dine in, expect great wait staff with a delicious meal. We had a to-go order with a couple of chicken sandwiches, and a soup. The young guy working the counter was really nice. The food looked and tasted really good. Unfortunately all of us had the violent Hershey squirts for a few hours right after we ate here. Not sure what they have going on in the kitchen to cause all of us to have stomach problems, but I can say for sure it doesn't give me a lot of faith in the cleanliness of their kitchen. read more

My wife and I usually order Mediterranean food from Taza fresh Grill. We received a 20% off coupon to try Alex kebab house. Both of us ordered the Shawarma combo dinner and an order of spinach pies. The food was excellent, the order was ready when promised, and the staff was friendly. We will be going back to this restaurant in the near future. Highly recommend. read more

DoorDash order, I had hummus with lamb, the lamb was very tough, and it was in a runny liquid that was so sour, had to scrape it off. Hummus was very bland. The rice pudding was watery, and tasted like perfume. Totally inedible. read more

I got the hummus with the chicken over it. I usually get this from Bucharest. And I know it's unfair to compare everything to bucharest. But I will say this did not have nearly as much meat on it as the Bucharest has but the meat was tasty. It only had diced up nuggets of chicken on it where Bucharest has the season strips and their piled high. The garlic sauce was okay but Bucharest is way garlicky then any other garlic sauces I've had at Mediterranean places. I just wish they would come down river. I will try this restaurant again because the customer service was impeccable. And don't get me wrong the food was pretty good what I had but in comparison is hardly any chicken left and I have a whole lot of hummus left. read more

I spotted this location and had to try it. The customer service was really good the guy who took my order said it would be a 15 minute wait but it took longer, which I didn't mind I just really wanted to try my food. Once I got my order home my fries were not hot (even though I waited over 15mins) and tasted like old cooking grease and also had burnt black onions mixed in my container of fries, my chicken and beef Shawarma had VERY LITTLE garlic sauce and pickles, it overall did not smell like the food was fresh I will NEVER go back to this place again. read more

Was a little skeptical with the lack of recent reviews and the fact we were the only ones here on a Saturday afternoon. Let me tell you! Hands down the best Garlic I've ever had. This is the other local downriver local joint. Nice and friendly Alex Kabob. First time eating here was over 10 years ago. That was when phones still clicked and folded into this little clam shell looking thing. This spot is nostalgic to me and it always probably will. Anyways, their combination plates are really good here. The kafta, shawarma, deboned chicken, etc. They give out the thin fluffy pita and garlic paste to taste. My go to item in any Mediterranean/MiddelEastern food is the Kibbe Nayee. That dish is a sign of authenticity as far as I'm concerned. If a restaurant doesn't serve this dish, I tend to not go back. My fiance ordered the shawarma sandwich, which is very good as well. I do get those when I'm not about throwing down. No its not Bucharest good, but it's good,, so don't even go there. read more

This is by far the best Lebanese food I have ever had. I enjoyed an appetizer of falafel, a strawberry banana smoothie, and the shish combo with lamb & vegetable soup and half rice/half french fries. Finally tried here yesterday after having multiple people telling me how great it was. I got a chicken shawarma salad. The salad was good but I wasn't overly impressed, the chicken was cold (I prefer it fresh cooked) and honestly didn't seem like the best quality. The dressing on the salad tasted great. I also got a small side of garlic sauce with the salad and did like it also, it was one of the better ones I have had. I will try them again for sure just because of how close it is and I know they can have an off day especially on a Sunday. read more

The salad itself was plentiful, and was not overdressed. the lettuce was very fresh, and there were also plenty of cucumbers and tomato's. the bread was hot, fluffy and excellent with the garlic! When my husband asked for the bill, I told him to add a quart of the chicken lemon rice to go. He gave me the soup and said thats for you, no charge. He also gave us 2 rice puddings. not sure if that came with his meal or not but it was delicious and appreciated. I definitely made sure to leave a nice tip, which he was getting with or without the free soup. Seating is plentiful, once ordered food came fast with every single item tasting fresh, well seasoned and delicious. There is a cooler with drinks so if you order to go you can grab a drink.

Upon arrival, the owner insisted on taking my photo without my consent, claiming it was required for DoorDash identification. I clearly refused, but he attempted to proceed anyway. No consent was given at any point for photography. The situation escalated further when I was physically touched after I explicitly asked not to be touched. This crossed a clear personal boundary and made the interaction feel unsafe and unacceptable. This type of behavior toward a service provider is not appropriate under any circumstances. It is disheartening to see an establishment take a customer's money but treat them with total disrespect. I am sharing this so other diners are aware of how this business treats its customers --whether pickup or dine-in--are aware and so that personal boundaries and consent are taken seriously in the future.

This place was good years ago when it first opened but everything has changed in the last few years and just progressively gotten worse. The bathrooms are sooooo nasty and smell like strong stringent mold, it makes you almost want to gag and you can see the mold growing in the corners. The last time I was there, the hummus was soooo old and sour, I told the guy and he brings out this big 5 gal bucket with about an inch of hummus left in the bottom and tells me how fresh it is, but apparentely they don't even make it, they buy it in the bucket! So obviously its not freshly made. Then there are little knats and flys flying all over the place, landing on your food, just highly unsanitary ! They nickle and dime you (charge you) if you need a little more garlic sauce with your meal and if you call in your order to go, they charge you .25 to .50cents for each and every container they use to bag your order up. So our family usually ends up paying about $2-$4 extra just for the styrofoam containers! The place used to be clean and the food used to be good but its turned into a dirty hole and I wouldn't eat there again if you paid me a million dollars! Im actually surprised the health dept hasn't shut them down. Its a shame its gone so down hill, it actually USED to be a nice place with good food. read more

My 1st time eating here today. The food was very good. I had the deboned chicken with rice and a salad. Unfortunately, the hostess/waitress was extremely rude. It actually made me rush my eating just to get out of there. She never asked how the food was after bringing it. She grabs the bread off the table before we were finished eating. Took my plate with out asking if I was finished. I could tell she had an attitude with me the entire time. It was so hard for me to leave her a tip, but I'm the nice guy and still left her a few dollars. I wouldn't return here even for a refund lol. That bad :( please pass on this place. read more

Great middle eastern food with a variety of selections very reasonable prices and huge portions make sure you bring the whole Family if you order something for 2 it could easily feed 4 people. They have two dining rooms other one seemed like a party room but had people sitting in it I'll have to ask them about doing my daughter birthday party in that room. read more
