We were picking up some supplies from TSC and it was just hitting lunch time - perfect to try out Mr Shawarma and BBQ, especially since we aren't in Trenton very often. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and placed our order at the counter. This place seems to be mainly do take-out orders - we saw a number of parties pick up food, but we were the only ones to sit down to eat. Oh well, more room for us! Poutine, Small ($9.99) - This is a gigantic plate of poutine - although I think they accidentally gave us a large instead of the small. There's plenty of hot gravy served on top of cheese curds and fries. The fries are commercial and fried to a crisp, but the parts that touch the gravy immediately turn limp. The curds are definitely not fresh ones - they are quite soft with no bounce or chew. As you eat, the cheese melts into the gravy, causing a good amount of cheese pull the every time you lift your fork up. The gravy is pretty flavorful and has good consistency. Best of all, it's not overly salty, so it's very easy to eat this dish. While it's not the best poutine you can find, it's better than a lot of other places this side of the river. (4/5) Chicken Shawarma Plate ($19.99) - I was wondering why this was so expensive and then I saw the plate come out - it's huge platter of meat, rice and sides. More than enough to feed two comfortably. The chicken shawarma, made mainly of chicken thighs, is moist and flavorful, a result of slowly cooking on a rotating spit. This also allows fantastic crisped up bits to develop on the exterior skin. On the spit, you can actually see pieces of chicken fat right at the top, which allows the juices to run down the chicken as it spins. The meat is spiced well but the natural chicken flavor still comes through. Tahini is drizzled on top, which adds a nuttiness that complements the spices and chicken flavor. (5/5) The shawarma is served on a bed of yellow rice. It's fluffy, salted quite a bit, probably cooked in chicken broth. It has a bit more moisture and is softer than the typical Lebanese rice, but is serviceable for the dish. Unlike a lot of other places, there's no slivered almonds or vermicelli to add variety. (4/5) On the side is a pile of batata harra (spicy potatoes). In this case, not spicy at all, but with a fragrant herbal blend fried on the exterior. The potato pieces are quite large here - it seems like medium sized potatoes that are cut into eighths. The exterior has a skin developed from being pan fried in oil, but it doesn't crisp up all that much. The inside is nice and fluffy, and encourages you to dip it in the hummus or toum. (4/5) The potatoes are served on (and topped by) house made toum (garlic). The toum here is fluffy and a bit lemony, but not overpowering. The taste of the garlic is a bit muted like it's been diluted by egg whites or potato. I prefer a thicker and more paste-like toum, but for a fluffy toum, this one isn't bad. (4/5) On another quadrant of the plate lies a couple of spoonfuls of hummus. This is the one item on the plate that I didn't enjoy at all. They are very heavy with the tahini, making the hummus very nutty but also adding a dose of bitter flavor. The hummus is very soft and smooth with no coarse bits of chickpea at all. I didn't like the flavor profile of this hummus. (2/5) Finally, there's a salad served on the side, with radish, red cabbage, lettuce, cucumber, and tomato. The sumac based dressing here seems to be made in house, resulting in one that feels a bit more acidic than others I've had. The salad is pretty heavily dressed, resulting in quite a bit of extra liquid on the bottom of the plate that leaks and mixes with the hummus and garlic potatoes. Still the veggies are crisp and other than that small mishap, the salad is refreshing. (4/5) As we were enjoying our food, I overheard a couple ordering spicy toum for their shawarma sandwiches. I asked about it and got a sample as we got up and left. Can't wait to try it, given how good the spicy toum is at other places! One thing I found strange is that none of the food is served with pita. It's noticeably missing. I'm lucky to live around so much great Middle Eastern food in Dearborn. Mr Shawarma and BBQ isn't a spot I'd go back to again, simply because of how far of a drive it is and the other options that are much closer to me. If you're in Trenton or nearby, however, Mr. Shawarma is an easy recommend. Note: They charge a 3% credit card fee. Chicken Shawarma Plate with Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, and Garlic Potatoes

I'm a truck driver and was delivering at the Tractor Supply in the shopping center. I walked over on the recommendation of the center owner and I am so happy I did. Aside from the fact that the food was outstanding- the owner and his family made the stop 100% worth it. They took the time to tell me exactly how they prepare and cook their food. I never write reviews but this place 100% deserved it. They were so so good to me. Shout out to the owner for the way he took care of me. I'm going to request this stop as much as possible just so I can go back here. It's rare that your food looks exactly how it does in the advertisements but I mean look at this plate!

Drove by this places for years and never tried it. The meat plate is more than youd pay for take out, but it's worth it. I've went back more than once for that alone. The meat is cooked *perfectly*, The chicken is good but the meat is my favorite. Generous portions of garlic as well. The salad had huge chunks of tomato, and the dressing on the side. Potatoes were crispy. I get so much food that the next day I'm excited for my leftovers. It also tasted just as good reheated. I would give it a five star aside from the fact that I've only tried the one thing multiple times. Service was good.

There is nowhere to sit and eat (even pre-pandemic). It's a takeout joint. They certainly make you feel welcome while you are waiting for your order, though. We usually just take ours to the riverfront and dine at the park. They have a pretty good setup for phone ordering and pickup in the current pandemic too. Frenchy's sits in a shopping center anchored by a Shoppers Drug Mart and a "Gaming Center" (aka casino). Walking up to the counter, I immediately noticed the lineup of meat choices and toppings. It's the kind of menu that makes you pause for a second, not because it's complicated, but because everything looks like a good idea. All sorts of protein options from Chicken to "Montreal Smoked Meat". I got the Gyro. Ordering was quick, and the food came out fast and fresh. The gravy was the standout. This wasn't that fast‑food slop. It was beefy, rich, the kind of gravy that actually tastes like something. Combined with the cheese curds and toppings, it made for a proper Canadian comfort‑food moment. And the portions? Massive. The kind of serving that makes you wonder if you accidentally ordered for two. Frenchy's is definitely playing in the "feed the masses" category, and they're doing it well. I took half my order back across the border for later. Bottom line: If you find yourself wandering into Windsor, intentionally or not, Frenchy's is a worthy stop for that authentic Pountne cuisine.
