I'm surprised to see this place where it is. Will an Arabic restaurant work downriver? I hope so. First, the Malek's Kafta appetizer $14.83: It is meatballs sautéed with mushroom, onions and fresh tomato. This was the star of the show for me. It was absolutely delicious. The sauté with tomato, onion and mushroom is the same you'd get with lamb tongues (a personal favorite...if you know, you know) or other sauté type dishes at Lebanese style Arabic restaurants. It really pops flavor-wise with a nice balance of savory herbs and a bite of acidic zest from lemon juice. This is what I will come back for. The fattoush was also delicious. I really liked the light dressing. There was no fried bread in it, just some dry bits and not much of it. I really thought it was more like a standard Lebanese style salad. Fortunately, I loved it. I like salad a lot. The lamb shish kabob was tenderized! Finally, someone understands this critical detail! They were well sized, perfectly cooked medium and the flavor was nice. I'm giving them a perfect score because I really enjoyed everything I ordered and I think they're succeeding at what they intend to be. I like the dining room; it is clean, modern and casual. I ordered chicken shawarma with white meat only, and I got dark meat chunks on both dinners. I even called to speak to someone after verifying why I needed all whit meat. Not only was there datuk meat, but there was very little chicken for the price paid. Next time, if I decide to eat there again, I will eat inside so I can send it back to the kitchen. read more

I ordered the deboned chicken dinner. The door dasher sat waiting for my order for at least 30 minutes while communicating with me. The chicken was cold...... legit cold. Nice ambiance, rude service, a bit taken back by the unnecessary sarcasm. The food was dry and lacked seasoning. 4 veggie grape leaf rolls for $8. They were the best thing about the restaurant. I decided to give this location another try and I should've went to the Taylor location instead. There were no customers in the dining room, my carry out of the shish tawook platter took 30 minutes. I asked twice for some of the hot bread and garlic and they stated it was in the bag. When I got home I was very disappointed. No bread, 1 tiny container of garlic and the chicken was inedible. Have to say this my first review ever. My experience today (6/20/26 ) prompted me to comment. First of all, I am a big fan of both other locations. Professional service and great food consistently. The food in this location was good. Our waitress this afternoon was the problem. Before finishing my friend and I asked the waitress for separate checks. She appeared indignant and said she asked us at the start about how we would handle the payment. That conversation never happened and we told her such. She started to argue with us. My friend couldn't believe her reaction! For one thing it wasn't busy and we felt challenged by her. What should have been a good experience soured our afternoon. She finally agreed and felt the need to comment on the size of bill my friend was paying with. We paid at the table . Our orders were identical which should have made this easy. I specifically get dressing from this location every time we come visit family because I love their salad dressing. I know that sounds weird- but their salad dressing is really good. As is their salad. I ordered a full tray for a party and they put the dressing and pita chips on the side so they wouldn't get soggy and I thought that was a great option and attention to detail. I wish they had feta and olives as an option to add to their salad. I got skewers of their beef and chicken kafta and their chicken pieces, and they were nice and juicy. I have picked up from here numerous times and ate in restaurant throughout the years when I visit Michigan and each time they've been great. read more

Watered-down, over-priced baba ganoush that spilled into my take-out bag due to poor packing. It came with a literal ball of pita that had been squished into a plastic baggie and somehow compressed. Food and atmosphere were wonderful. Upon entry the atmosphere and decor felt high end and classy. The prices seemed a little high on the menu but upon checkout, it was very reasonable! The platters for multiple people are very generous and priced fairly while offering something for everyone. Our bill for 6 people was around $120.00 and we all ate plenty and had left overs the next day. The service was great. Our waitress was kind and took great care of us! We did have to ask several times for lemon slices and wedges. After multiple guests asking our server, multiple times, I ended up asking the hostess and finally got some. Most restaurants keep garnishes for drinks near the beverage station. Some of our party asked for lemon slices for their water and others for their food. I personally cant enjoy hummus without a squeeze of fresh lemon. Ive never been to a mediterranean restaurant that didn't serve lemon wedges with most of their dishes so I'm not really sure what the issue is there. I should know better by now, but the Taylor location is so good but Trenton is convenient. I ordered two sandwiches for carry out. Pull up, the restaurant is empty. I was told 15 minutes on the phone. We ended up waiting almost 35 minutes! I would have left, but they made us pay as soon as we walked in for our order. We did complain and they had no remorse whatsoever. Oh. And we were also heckled for money from someone who was just walking by while inside the restaurant. My wife and I stopped in today for lunch. I ordered a half fattoush with chicken and a bowl of crushed lentil soup. My wife ordered vegetables lamb soup and enjoyed it. The lentil soup was very good and the chicken was quite good as well. The fattoush had way too much pita for my liking, and the dressing headed quite sweet for me. Overall, it's pretty decent, but i think there are better Mediterranean restaurants around. read more

This spot just opened a month or so ago and you can tell. They are experiencing some pains with first opening, but overall this spot is good and I am excited to try out more of their menu. We tried Malek Al-Kabob twice. The first time, was not good only because they forgot my veggie grape leaves TWICE. I don't eat meat and my bf and I ordered falafel and veggie grape leaves. I always get paranoid that places will mess up my order and made my bf double check these were the veggie grape leaves and not the meat ones. He asked the staff because they knotted the carry out bag so tight you couldn't easily open it without ripping it. When we got home, they were the meat ones so we called back, told them what happened, and they told us to come back and they would give us the veggie ones we ordered at no cost. My bf went to go pick them up and was assured again by staff they were veggie ones. Well, when he got home, they were NOT veggie ones and meat ones again. I was so mad I wanted to cry. I was so hungry and looking forward to these and now I couldn't even eat them. Dare we try again? A few weeks later, after we picked up cheesy breadsticks from Del's Pizzeria (check out my other review), we stopped in for a veggie grape leaves redemption and placed an order. Third time's a charm, because they got it right and gave us the veggie grape leaves this time. I explained what happened previously and they didn't charge us. These were really good. nice ratio of lemon, rice, fresh herbs, tomato. Even though they are served cold, I like to heat them up and think they taste better. And the grape leaves are pretty big. The grape leaves from Taza Fresh Grill are half the size (honestly the size of my pinky finger), 8 for $10. At Malek Al-Kabob you get 8 large grape leaves for $12.99 (I think). Either way, it's a good deal. Bottom line, give these guys a break. They are newly opened, super busy, and working through it all. When they mess up, they fix it and that's all I can ask for. The falafel is really good and the grape leaves are delicious. Shish Garden is our favorite for salmon salads, deboned chicken, and hummus, but the garlic sauce there is STRONG! The garlic sauce at Malek Al-Kabob is subtle, yet flavorful (and you don't have to cancel the rest of your day and hibernate from garlic breath). I will definitely be going back to Malek Al-Kabob. The dining room is very nice, they did a good job on the decor and the bathrooms are clean. Service is good, the staff are very friendly and nice, I just think they are so busy that mistakes are made. read more

Was taken here by family to celebrate my birthday. There were seven adults and one child. Kabob Platters with Lamb was excellent. Humus with bread excellent. We ate too much if this. Lamb Chili excellent. Greek Salad excellent, plentiful. Shish Kafta Sandwich was excellent. Service was excellent, Shish Tawook was excellent! Boneless Chicken was absolutely excellent! The Mediterranean chicken were excellent with a nice ting of bbq. Service was excellent. Yes I said it again. The whole staff creates a warm family feeling. I just wanted them to sit down and eat with us!! . In the end they served a complimentary baklava in honor of my birthday. The entire staff came out and sang along with other patrons. Lets go back! The food of this location used to be excellent. We were in last night and had the Malik chicken stirfry and it was quite different extremely salty and more herbaceous than usual. hello everyone, I was here on April 1, 2023 SERVICE HERE IS TERRIBLE, If you place an order for pick up, you better place it at least an hour ahead when you get there it'll be there at the front or it'll be ready for you to pick up. I've seen people sitting there for 25 minutes waiting for carry outs, and they are very slow in the kitchen. I sat at the table placed an order for a salmon fish and it took them an hour . The other times I've been, there was just for a pick up order. And like I said their kitchen is very slow very slow if you go there or you're going to be waiting a long time for your food to come on out terrible service. They have such a good product and taste good, and I give it to the people right away, that is bad and they didn't do anything about it. The only one that apologized was the waiter. A most beautiful new design, with roll up door for outside dining in warm weather. They brought a few of the very best waiters from the Dearborn location providing top notch service. Started with Hot Puffy Bread straight outta the oven n Garlic Dip as your seated. We ordered the platter for 2 , only ate half. She had a bowl of Lentils Soup spot on Wonderful. The platter comes with Hummus, Fatoush Salad, Chicken Tawook, Lamb Kabob, Kafta and Chicken Gallaba OMG fantastic . Mixed grilled Veggies surrounding a mound of Rice for the Win. Finally! When I saw they were bringing their restaurant to Trenton I got really excited! I have been a patron of Malek Al-Kabob for many years. I have always had great experiences. I often order the Malek Vegetarian Platter because it comes with a little bit of everything (hummus, baba ghanouj, tabbouleh, majadra, Persian pickles, grape leaves, rice, and salad). The warm bread is a delicious accompaniment, as well as their dreamy garlic paste. The new place is beautifully decorated and has a modern vibe. We have dined in twice now at the new Trenton location. The first time we figured was because it had just opened, but the service was poor. The server did not write anything down and forgot several items. Despite asking for them 3 times. This time, about 6 weeks later, we had came in and were told it would be a 20 min wait. We waited inside. The host forgot about us and sat someone else after they walked in immediately, after we had already been waiting 20 mins. He apologized and sat us soon after. We then had the same server as before , who again did not write anything down. He forgot several things from our order. My husband was beyond irritated at this point and we chose to eat what we had and leave. I suggest keeping an organized wait list, and having servers write orders down!!! The food is consistent and good. But we shall not be dining in anymore. read more

At Maleks We always get the same thing here. The Deboned chicken with dark meat. It comes with the chicken and rice and a salad. We love the fresh baked pitas with lots of garlic paste too. After eating there is always plenty of leftovers for the next day. We eat this once a week. The service is always great and they are polite. The restaurant is always clean too. Most my friends eat here too. We love this place!! read more
