I wanted to remove the train and hem the dress so I didn't step on the front while I walk. She was able to help me. Getting my dress altered was cheaper than getting it dry cleaned! The owner told me her story, which is amazing! She's 68 and you can't tell! She came from Cuba and moved to the US in the 80s. She is one of the few true seamstresses you will find. She's talented, has years of experience, and is incredibly friendly. She has been in Augusta 16 years. I would recommend coming here to anyone. She does dress restoration, modifications, hemming, you name it and she can do it! She has truly put her blood, sweat and tears into this place! What a true inspiration. I tried on the items and they were pinned every which way depending on the style of the dress. She took her time pinning the garments making sure that is what I wanted. So I had high hopes. I dropped them off on a Friday and they were ready in a week. You could get your items sooner, but probably will pay more so, plan for a week. But you will not be disappointed. I brought them home and was EXTREMELY happy and satisfied with not only the quality of sewing, but all garments fit exactly as they were pinned. Altered to a perfection and worth every penny. The women who work there are very pleasant and hard working. This place is off Belair and in the shopping center as the Vogue cleaners. Easy to find and lots of parking. If you need alterations of any kind you won be disappointed!

HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE THAT PASSIONATE ABOUT THEIR JOBS NOWADAYS?! She particularly loves altering formal dresses and gowns. I was a little nervous going here at first as I had a very last minute bridesmaids dress to get altered. I gave Mrs. P the deadline to get it done in three weeks. Trying the dress on just 4 days before the wedding was even more nerve wracking as I've had to get things altered in more than one session before. But she really hit the nail in the head with this alteration! She did an amazing job hemming my dress as well as taking in the back as it was too loose up top. It really accentuated my waistline and Mrs. P made sure to make me feel beautiful in it when I tried it on. Thank you Mrs. P!

I have been going to this woman for YEARS, whether it be for casual wear, formal wear, tops,…read morebottoms - you name it. I need most of my clothes hemmed for my height. But I was SO offended by how I was treated this morning. Last year, I took a bridesmaids dress to her 1 time, to which she kindly said "I'm not taking formal wear" to which I was assuming due to influx of formal wear due to wedding season. I haven't seen her until this time, which was this morning. This morning, I took 1 plain black polyester dress to her to ask if she could hem the bottom for me. I saw a sign on the door that said no formal dresses. I was under the impression it was not a formal dress due to the material and simplicity, but I'm no expert. When I walked in, she raised her voice to say "Stop bringing formal dresses!" This was in a very rude way, and in front of another customer. I had only taken her ONE formal dress to her the year before, as mentioned. I believe this could have been addressed in a kind manner due to "misunderstanding." But REGARDLESS, I feel like you shouldn't talk to customers like that - or any person for that matter! I refuse to support this business anymore

I recently took a pair of ladies unlined dress pants to Em's to be shortened and re-hemmed. I…read morebought the pants, which were fairly expensive, to wear to my granddaughter's wedding and needed them back in a couple of weeks. The original hem in the pants was a blind stitch which every professional seamstress or tailor would agree is the appropriate hem for this type of pants. Em's was prompt in getting the pants back to me but she hemmed them on a sewing machine with a straight stitch and one leg was 1/2" shorter than the other. There was even double stitching in one area on the outside of the leg, very visible. I will not use her again. I took the pants to a professional alteration shop in town to be reworked with the proper blind stitch, they are charging me $15 vs Em's price of $25. Lesson learned!
