Dining area is small (I've heard from locals they have added tables) and we arrived around 7:30. If your group is more than 4 expect to wait. We knew this going in (we were 6) and decided after looking at a 45min wait we ordered "take out". Vitelli alla Contadina was flavorful but the roast vegetables were rushed (under cooked) and the veal, although cooked correctly was tough. The Petto di Pollo Martini was also flavorful but the butchering left some ligaments. In terms of these two dishes, I think Chef is spot on with flavors but needs to work with the prep staff and discuss meat quality with the supplier. All other dishes were very good; Calzone, Lasagna and two orders of Spaghetti al Pomodoro. The restaurant update included an indoor restroom so ignore the earlier post about having to walk outside. I don't think I'd give a resturant 2 stars based on atmosphere, but that's just me. If you want to wear evening clothes out than this isn't the place for you, but if you want a casual dining experience than deffinately go. The food is amazing! It's fresh, flavorful, and delicious! It's one of my favorite places to eat. We eat out often and travel quite a bit and it's still one of my favorites. It's great that you can see Alessandro cooking right in front of you. He always has special dishes aside from what's on the menu. Try the haibut when it's in season. It's awesome. Go you won't be dissapointed. read more

Authentic to the condiments! Best Italian food in Ashtabula County!

Just as an update: I was recently at Alessandro's, and the new addition is open and includes an indoor bathroom. They also used the extra space to spread out the tables that are already in there, so that the diners won't have to venture outside to use the bathroom, and won't have to be squished together on busy nights. read more

Dinner was fabulous. I had lamb thanks and are every delicious rich bite. Cooked perfectly with love. You could taste it. The place isn't open much and you blink...you miss it. Don't blink...just go. I have a relative that lives within walking distance of Alessandro's, and I go EVERYTIME I come to visit.. Plus I pick us a MINIMUM of 2 jars of meat sauce. When you drive up to Alessandro's you first wonder why your GPS led you to this old Dairy Queen, then you wonder why there are so many people outside to get Blizzards or Dilly Bars. Don't be deterred, you have reached Alessandro's. The food is very good. Top quality ingredients prepared simply with perfect portion sizes. This is one of the best Italian restaurants in Northeast Ohio. Very authentic and Alessandro will go out of his way to make whatever you are in the mood for that night. They have added the new addition and it really opens the place up. The service is great, maybe a little slower than most people are used to but he is in the kitchen every night making everything from scratch. Trust me it is worth the 10 or 15 minutes extra that you will have to wait to enjoy an authentic home cooked meal. I highly recommend Alessandro's. read more

Personally one of my favorite restaurants. Privately owned and operated. Quality of food is amazing, food portions are great for the average person, price is moderate. This is a hidden gem in northeastern Ohio! The kitchen is visible from the moment you walk in. The wait staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. You can tell that it's located in a small town when you hear other customers talking with the staff, even the cook, and catching up on each other's lives. This place always makes me happy. The staff is friendly and remembers their regulars, the food is outstanding, and the chef cranks out some terrific food. While some might fuss about the prices, the quality of the dishes justify every penny. This is not a corporate sit-down place or some snooty upscale establishment. You get real food served by nice people in an unpretentious atmosphere. Good for date night, guests in town, or just to treat someone to a nice meal. The product is fresh, so if they are out it means: 1) it was good and sold out, and 2) there is not some crusty leftover in the freezer they can throw in a microwave, My recommendation is to order one of the specials. The menu is full of good stuff, but Allesandro shines on the seafood, lamb, pasta, and other outstanding specials.
