I interviewed a half dozen or so contractors prior to selecting Nico Pro Construction (NPC) to do my Dream Garage project. The usual criteria: conveyed competence, experience, estimate completeness, competitive pricing, timeline, and gut-feel, were all considered and evaluated. From the beginning, it was clear to me that NPC was a cut above the others. I especially appreciated that Nazariy, NPC's estimator, was also going to be the Project Manager. That in itself was huge to me, ensuring I wouldn't ever get the "he said, she said" game that is so often prevalent in construction projects. Throughout the project, Nazariy provided me with updated timelines keeping me "in the loop"; that was a big plus for me. And while we had our share of mostly weather related delays, I always knew where we were with the scope of work. As was the case with Nazariy, NPC's crew of workers performed their efforts with a solid sense of pride and regard for their work and my project. Sadly, that mindset is not as common place in construction as I remember it to be; NPC clearly exhibits the proprietary interest you want in your contractor. I was reminded of this with a couple of the subs who worked with us, as some of their efforts were lacking. When such incident arose however, Nazariy was always Johnny on the spot stepping up and stepping in to ensure all was righted. In the end, NPC successfully provided me with the Dream Garage I had envisioned. To anyone who is looking to find a competitive, competent, contractor, that they can truly trust, I wholeheartedly recommend Nico Pro Construction. My husband and I had a total kitchen remodel fourteen months ago. We chose all licensed and bonded installers as we figured they would provide a higher quality of work. In only five months, a few of the 24" x 24" porcelain tiles, which had been installed on the floors of our kitchen, laundryroom, diningroom and entryway, began to come loose and one of them cracked. The installer came out and replaced the cracked tiles to our satisfaction, however over the next year, nine more tiles became loose After trying to work it out with the licensed installer, we were forced to have an independent inspection performed to see how wide spread the problem was. After having five different Tile contractors out, we were appalled that only one out of the five would we hire. Sam, from Brothers IC met with us and took the time to inspect the previous install. He was professional, very knowledgeable and although his bid was the highest, he was the only one we felt confident with. They finished 300 feet of installation within a day in a super cold/slightly rainy weather and carried a smile until the end. The way they installed the lights also came out great. Sid looked at his finished work carefully at the end and I could tell that he took pride in his work. During the installation, I was concerned that they might break our roof tiles. Without me asking, Sid took some before and after pictures for me to provide reassurance. When we bought the house the deck was in such poor shape we were afraid to use it. Steve totally reconstructed the deck and expanded it to what it is today, one of the best features of the house. We love entertaining on it and just enjoying it in the evening. The second project was a complete remodel of the downstairs. Our kitchen was tiny and very outdated to the point it was not very functional. There was no counter or cabinet space and the refrigerator took up half the kitchen. He took our pantry, which was pretty big, and made half of it an alcove for a new decent sized refrigerator and still had half of the pantry with a pocket door. He had new custom cabinets built and a custom buffet to match. The counters now have granite counter tops. He remodeled the bathroom and replaced our plain old doors with beautiful pine doors. We had him install new hickory wood floors and installed wood beams to match the ones already there to accommodate a new chandelier. One of the most impressive projects was installing a 12 ft. sliding glass door, where a single door and two windows were. It opens up onto our beautiful deck. Steve was extremely professional and we could not have had a better experience. He made sure that everything was done to perfection and most importantly to our expectations. The crew was very meticulous, even finishing it off with a bead of caulk on the ceiling inside corners. Since I was the one painting it, I can say that this made it so much easier to paint! Steve and his crew were completely professional, they did a great job cleaning up afterwards, and were sure to take care of all the little details. We also used Steve for a tile backsplash in the kitchen, and that turned out fantastic. Again we saw the attention to detail that makes it obvious Steve has a passion for what he does. He laid out the different tiles and set aside tiles whose pattern didn't quite match the layout he was doing, or that had somewhat chipped edges. We also changed some things last minute and Steve rolled right along with it. We love how the backsplash turned out. Knowing that Steve will put as much care or even more into the projects as I would myself gave me a huge peace of mind. I would definitely have no hesitation in calling Steve back for another project.
