DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!! The staff was clueless about what they're doing here. This place is not a day spa, but more of a cover up for a drug house! I flew in from out of town for my girlfriend's wedding and there are a group of us booked for manis/pedis. When we arrived, there was one girl there while we waited for the other techs to arrive. The "techs" were in an out and the placed reeked of marijuana!!! It took 3 hours to get a full set of acrylics on our bride. One of the techs didnt even wipe down the nails after dousing her with a bottle of oil. Nail polish was out off the very next day. They have pictures of great nail art displayed all over the salon, but none of the nails looked anywhere close. One of the techs came in late, shaking like she was high on something and blamed it on an addition to coffee but had bruises and tracks on her arms!! When one of the girls went to pay for the three combined services, mani, pedi and full set, the girl who rang it up could not add three services and stated she does not know how to add because she wasnt good at math!!!!!! I've tried to not leave a review for this place for several reasons, but I realize that I make my decision to go to certain places based on other people's experiences. So I am. I've heard of this place a few months ago because a co-workers friends daughter has came here before. My friend found this place because they're open til 12 am (REALLY good thing if you work nights, but more on that later) so she called me and we went in at 10:00pm and actually got massages! The owner called a guy, who thought he wasn't working there anymore, and he stopped by to give my friend and I massages. I went first while she got a mani-pedi. By the time I was done, somehow she still wasn't done! She only had her toes done, so she went in to get her massage. We paid and left, with the owner promising to give her mani part of the mani/pedi for $10 tomorrow afternoon...because the owner said that she isn't a morning person....I guess. We came at noon to a closed store....wtf? My friend kept calling the business phone to just get her voicemail. Later that day she calls us and tells her that her employee got her purse stolen and that the store keys were in the same purse and she had to make copies. Sounded like a bs excuse to not open her store (since she did mention that she isn't a morning person so she must have chosen to wake up late), but we agreed to go there at 10:30 pm the next day. So the next day comes and we go there at around 10:20....why is she closing the store early?!?! Her excuse? "Oh I'm so sorry I forgot!" So we're told to come in the day after at noon. By then we really should've given up but we didn't because both of our work schedules are crazy and we try to to girly things together...SO WE GO IN AGAIN...and this time she's there. She starts taking care of me immediately because I have to work at 1:30, and my friend has to wait for the other girl to come. My friend waited for a cool 45 minutes before she comes speeding in. My nails were done okay, the designs were really nice, but the fill was subpar and my nails weren't straight even when I asked her to fix it. Luckily my nails ($42 for my crappy fill and good designs w/rhinestones btw...smh) were done in less than an hour even though they had flaws. My friends "simple" manicure however took two hours!! Also for some reason, they put a gel coat on her natural nails (instead of arcrylics like its supposed to), so the two hour mani peeled off the same day. This review is way too long to mention her making fun of her employees at their expense. Long paragraph huh? Well that was our experience there. It gets a half star for being open late when she feels like it, and the other half star for doing decent nail designs. I see on her website that she does a lot of different nail art that nobody else has yet like aqua nails, but I won't be back to try it out because of the reputation she has given herself to my friends, my friends friends, and of course myself. Took a girlfriend here for pre-wedding mani-pedis and could not be more disappointed. The staff was in some sort of turmoil. The polishes were all thick and old. Staff members kept coming and going during our services. Finally, two different technicians CUT my girlfriend, one time being ON HER RING FINGER TWO DAYS BEFORE HER WEDDING. it bled for 10 minutes and they could not even locate a band aid. It also took over 3 hours. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but I am not willing to return to find out. read more

NIGHTMARE! I can see why this place went to Groupon to gain some business. I also agree with the previous reviews about pretty much everything they said. Paid $10 extra to get the "signature scrub," which basically consisted of a manicure I could have done better myself and a pedicure that took an additional TWO HOURS to complete because the girl (and I think I got the same girl as the other reviewers, because she could not have been licensed) kept smudging the paint. Now that I'm home and can see the finished product in the light, it looks like this girl butchered my feet. I have little cuts all over the sides of my toes and it looks like she just ran the polish brush down the middle of the nail, completely neglecting to paint the rest of it. I just saw an email for Aleaka Day Spa on Living Social today and was shocked they are still in business. I reported them to the Dept of Health last year after atrocious service and cleanliness of the "salon". Besides the typical poor customer service stuff like waiting two hours to get my mani/pedi and it taking another two plus hours for a simple mani/pedi (Yes, it is my fault for putting up for it), but the place was absolutely disgusting. It was a Sunday, and I still had errands to run (like bank, Costco, ACS) and they all close early on Sundays. I wasn't able to do any of my other chores because they were already closed even when my appointment was about 2pm in the afternoon. Dirty utensils, bowls, floors, a dog walking around (I love animals, but doesn't mean I want them in a restaurant kitchen and the same goes for a salon), dirty-dirty all around. The spa has lots of close, free parking, pleasant music, and an attractive, restful area upstairs (where the hair and pedicure services are conducted). Prices for hair services are particularly reasonable, but skin and nail services are good, too. My only suggestion is to have the owner and staff conduct personal conversations with each other and their children outside of the hearing of customers. Most people come to a spa to relax. Even elsewhere, nobody wants a waiter, librarian or manicurist to talk with their kids in person or on the phone about their homework and other non-emergencies in the midst of attending a customer. read more

This was the worst manicure I have ever had. It took forever, and 3 different technicians worked on my nails because they were all running around and disorganized. There was a drunk male customer in there making a bunch of noise, every other word was the F word, and the employees seemed to indulge and cater to him. He was there a long time, and they never even tried to calm him down or ask him to leave. On top of it all, I had polish all over my skin and cuticles, and all the polish peeled off within 3 days. I wrote this review a minute ago for Yellowpages and just decided to copy and paste for the world to see! If only I would give it ZERO stars!! By far the worst experience I've had at a nail salon! I booked a nail appointment for 1:00 pm on a Saturday, and when I got there the owner Aleaka was not there to do my nails. One of the employees called her and gave me an excuse that she was having some problems with her kids at home and wouldn't make it in. I couldn't wait because I had to work at 3 so she asked me to come in at 8:30 pm when i got off. I got there and she was waiting for me, however a few minutes later when I was getting my acrylics soaked off to put on a new set one of her regular clients came in and she moved me to a different table and pretty much forgot about me for a good 30 mins. As I was sitting there with my hands in a bowl of hot acetone I was looking around and starting noticing how dirty the place was. There was acrylic dust all over the chairs and tables. The tools were just sitting out and clearly hadn't been cleaned or disinfected. I could go on and on about how crappy this place was layed out but I want to keep this as short as possible. So about an hour in of me sitting here with my nails melting off, I wanted to get out of there. I sat there while listening to Aleaka talk crap about on of her friends who had been hanging out there when I arrived and had left about an hour later. Telling basically everyone in the shop that she was homeless. SO unprofessional. Her kids were in the back office and she got up a couple times to yell at them. She was dressed sloppy and had acrylic dust all over her shirt and chest. The client who walked in after me and basically took my place asked her 3 year old daughter that she brought with her to be given a haircut and after she had to wait for the hairdresser to get out of the tanning bed the kid got one of the ugliest and sloppiest haircuts I've seen come out of a "salon". The mom asked for side bangs and the hairdresser couldn't even do it and blamed the little kid for moving. By this time my nails were nearly off so I made up an excuse that I had somewhere to be (By this time it was 10:00pm) I had her take my nails off and just put a clear coat on so I could get out of there and go get my nails done elsewhere the next morning. Overall just a horrible experience. I would never recommend it or go back. And one more little detail, one of the first things Aleaka said to me as I sat down at her table was "Uhhh where do you get your eyelashes done? I can do them much better! You can see the glue! What kind of glue do they use??" Well, Aleaka, I do them myself and they look just fine. But thanks for telling me they look bad so you could scam me out of $40. Please don't waste your time and money on this joke of a business!! That place needs to be shut down. Oh one last thing! They have a credit card machine but it doesn't work. There are no signs up letting clients know and she decided to wait until it was time to pay. Luckily I had a $10 bill with me. read more

I did get a choice of nail polish, and the gal did not butcher my feet or nails, but this was not up to the professionalism I have experienced at other nail salons. Aleaka's is a friendly place for a mani/pedi. I was well treated by a capable young woman who listened carefully regarding nail length etc and was professional in her skills. While this is not a high tech spa; they deliver services in an efficient & timely manner. read more

I agree with the two previous reviews, especially the first review!!! This was the worst mani experience of my life and I'm not exaggerating! The minute I walked into Aleaka's I could tell how unprofessional it was. The girls that did my manicure as well as my daughters' did not know what they were doing!!!!!! I seriously don't think these girls are licensed to do nails!!! I can't even begin to express how horrible my experience was. They didn't remove my cuticles, buff my nails, hardly filed them, did not put a base coat before giving me my french manicure.... which by the way was HORRIBLE! No straight lines AT ALL! My daughter could have done a better job. They had no idea where anything was.... nail polish remover, brushes, etc. I originally went there to get a mani/pedi but 5 minutes into my manicure there was no way in hell I was going to let them do a pedicure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh, and get this.... after the girl got done painting my daughters nails she says " hmmm I did a pretty good job, I still need to work on my painting skills but they look alright" WTF!?! Who says that!?! I will never ever go back to Aleaka's for ANYTHING! I had my nails redone literally the next day by a different salon. The only reason I even went to Aleaka's was because of a Alaska Reward Coupon... Mani/Pedi plus a haircut for $30 bucks. It sounded like a great deal and their website looked legit..... I made sad mistake of sending my wife her for mothers day. Holy hell- I now owe her a day at a real spa. This place is a bargain all right; the bargain bin... or maybe the trash can next to it. The other girls who went with her were upset as well. They filed 2 of her toe nails, and one finger nail to a point the under nail was open and sore! The staff actually had to be walked through what to do next by the CUSTOMER!!!!! The staff was clearly untrained and unprofessional. One woman stopped to talk on her phone multiple times for personal calls- which was the only relief from her constant gum smacking. This is by far the worst day spa I have ever been to. The employees here were so unprofessional and most smelled of body odor. I dont even think any are licensed in cosmotology except for aleaka. My pedicure was horrible,they had the women who is employeed to to hair/cuts/color do my pedi and you sit in these awkward chairs that have a pull out draw on the bottom and it looks as tho they fill a plastic container/trash can looking thing with hot water and little rock/beads. After she file'd my nails down a bit & scrub'd my feet for about 30 seconds,she apply'd oil and dry'd my legs off wit stained horible looking like car wash towels & apply'd nail polish which she did not cover all of my nails and did not apply a clear top coat!!!! I then waited for my manicure for about 10 min when I did get placed at a station the girl looked as tho she had no experience in nails she used the machine to file my REAL nails down and then used SUPER GLUE and not nail glue to put on my fake white tip nails. My hands have super glue stuck all around my finger tips and she glued the tips half way down my nails which made my nails looked horrible. So I made her remove the white tip which was so hard and hurt because of the use of Super glue and my nails are thin so this was not an easy task.( I removed myself @ the nail station).I said I would like to reschedule with Aleaka which they did for a 10pm appointment . So I payed 30 for my pedicure ( I could have done a better job) 'OH" and I recieved a phone call at 10:02 PM saying they need to RESCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT!!!!!! Are you kidding me??? This nail place is ridiculous. My little sister had been getting her nails done the whole time I was there by Aleaka the owner and the only person who can do nails here that look good or decent and I say decent because if they upgraded to better tips and not use some cheap flimsy ones my sisters nail tips wouldnt crack when cutting them down or chip hrs later. I was very dissapointed with the service and unprofessional employees they just stood there chatting away. There were MANY things that could have been done like cleaning, dusting, sanitizing nail equiptment, vacuming upstairs. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE I know. My finger nails are so sensitive right know from them using the machine to file my real nail down they hurt when hot water hits them. I'm VERY displeased with Aleaka's Day Spa. My friend and I went in yesterday at 6pm for her appointment. Aleaka called us right as we were walking in the door to tell us she was running behind. She was very chatty with the lady's nails she was finishing up. Also, two other employees came downstairs (who apparently weren't working) were chatting it up with Aleaka as well. Shouldn't she want to get her current client finished?! I guess not. To top it off, when the lady's ride came, she and Aleaka had him run to Burger King to get them food. Really? While my friend sits in the seat (who has waited an hour already), Aleaka writes down her order and the lady's order on a piece of paper and gives him money. That is VERY unprofessional. We waited for an hour and she didn't even get started with my friend's manicure. When the driver came back with the food, she took a 10 minute break eating it. Still, not starting ANYTHING with my friend's manicure. By this point we are so fed up with the bull. Why make an appointment? Why even waste our time?!?! When Aleaka was done eating her food, she went into a back room (probably to wash her hands), but she didn't have the courtesy to tell us how much longer the wait would be, or anything. We were the only customer's in there who were stupid enough to wait an hour for nothing. So, we just left. By the time we were driving off, Aleaka came out and decided she was ready to start (I guess). We will NEVER come back. That was our first and last visit. She was also having some issues/arguments with her daughter in front of us. Totally unprofessional. This place is cheap and trashy, just as the other comment said. The "wood" floor seemed like wallpaper material since there were bubbles in spots, rips, and where Aleaka sits, the "wood" wore out. This place was awful. My friend and I are both military, and according to the ad for this establishment as long as we showed our I.D.s we got 3 free tans. My friend went in Monday and used her first tan. The owner told her the bulbs were brand new so she didn't need to go in the full 20 mins. We went in today (Thursday) and the owner stated not only were we not allowed to get the 3 free tans without the flyer (it didn't say to bring it in on the ad) but the the bulbs were old and needed to be changed tomorrow, so we could stay in the full 20 minutes. Then she charged us for samples and the eye stickers. I have been to a lot of tanning salons in Indiana, Michigan and Texas and this is the first time I have ever been chraged for samples or the eye covers. The owner also refused to answer my question as to what level the tanning bed was because according to her sign the highest level at the salon was a 3. She did not answer and refused to customize the time. When we went upstairs, my friends stand up bed (room 2) had burnt out bulbs and my bed (room 5) was so old that anytime I moved it creaked for the whole time I was in. Also, and this is the most disgusting part, the bed had not even been sanitized and had sweat stains all over the place. It was unclean and if the price tags weren't on the samples she charged you more. My friend and I got the exact same sample and Aleaka tried to charge me $5 more than what hte tag on my friends sample said. This place is the worst existing cheap o spa. I got my individual lashes done, and the lady use who knows what kind of products and glue, but she basically glued 4 lines of plastic horrible lashes on my eyelid, I mean she was so cruel and she lacks of the knowledge and professionalism a certified aesthetician has. She made me suffer for 3 long days with this mess that she didn't want to take off. I tried every single eyelash remover available in the market and nothing seemed to take the 1/2 inch layer of glue she has applied directly on my skin. Once this stuff became harder it was as if blinking was a sin, the thick layer of glue and the plastic flare lashes became like razor blades, my eyelids swell horrible and my eyes were teary and blood shot. My husband and I were horrified by what this lady did. I just didn't want to go to the ER and have them cut off, it was just a nightmare to think I had to this. Please ladies don't go there at all. God sent me an angel, and a real certified eyelashes extension professional took her time and had the good will an patience to take this clusters of glue and plastic off my eyes. She attended me as an emergency at 8:00pm and opened her recognized SPA just to help me gain back my life. she was able to save a few lashes since some clusters of this glue and the plastic eyelashes would not come off no matter, so she had to cut those chunks off to prevent me from having a horrible eye infection and even losing my eye sight.what. The owner of Aleaka's offered nothing but to wait a week or rubbed them off with baby oil. She definitely knows she's not doing something right.
