It's not all peaches and roses for everyone though, there are some things you'll do here (almost ritualistically after a few visits), that you would typically never deal with at other grocery stores. You can expect to pay a deposit on your shopping cart (a quarter, also there are no baskets), buy your own bags, bag your own groceries, oh and the cashiers are there to get you in and out, I wouldn't expect much of a conversation. The store is set up for efficiency, too. Products are not loaded on to a shelf--a box is cut open with the product label facing out or an entire pallet of merchandise is placed on the floor. This saves Aldi manpower, and you guessed it, money for you and I. It's not uncommon to see a pallet jack on the floor or an associate collecting empty boxes of product. Now that I made Aldi sound like an inconvenient and messy place to shop. Let me tell you why it's awesome. First off, I find myself saving 40% on my grocery expenses. I can deal with the inconvenience on that alone. Second, they sell a crazy weird variety of foods from around the world (most commonly from Germany, but I've seen tikka masala simmer sauce too). Oh and I've found people concerned about the quality. To this date, I've yet to have a problem with my groceries from Aldi. You aren't paying for the name, the tedious stocking of shelves, someone to collect your cart, and someone to bag your groceries. Think about it. One thing that is new is they are taking credit cards (as far as I've been told, its only a test in the Minneapolis-St. Paul market). So bring your plastic too and rack up those rewards points while your grocery bill diminishes. Worth checking out, and if you're like me and LOVE to save money, you might find your cupboards littered with Aldi labels.

Faygo sodas at 3.28 a 12 pack. Also I like the holiday hand soaps. I picked up one of each kind when I actually went in to get some more of the pecan pumpkin. Speaking of just across the way there was an aisle with canned pumpkin and some interesting pastas. As I picked up a spring mix as I walked in they also have some nice looking brioche buns. At check out they usually wait til there's a line of some sort before they bring up another person. I got lucky she grabbed someone handy to bring the diet Faygo to the car since I remembered my Aldi bag and didn't bother with a cart. Yes I carried up 2-12 packs up to the check out.

There are other Hy-vee locations in Savage and Eagan, but their locations are not closeby, unless I an driving by, I probably don't frequent these or make a special trip. They had some good sales and variety.

I like how often they rotate the non food types of things. It seems every time I go in there, there is some kind of kitchen gadget or other that I want. The produce is always fresh and rotates often (same with the meat). I like the selection of frozen foods and usually end up leaving with more than I came in for. Aldi has come a long way since they started opening. it's a great place to get all your staples at a great price. Their versions of a lot of snacks are just as good. I save a fortune buying my salad kits here (like at least a dollar off each kit). Also a great place to get cheese and deli meats for a good price. Don't forget to bring a bag or two. I usually can't find an empty box to use for all my stuff. Shop at off times like later in the evening to avoid the crowds and long lines.

I had to indulge in two of the jumbo chocolate chip cookies, one with walnuts and one without. There is a huge frozen food section with a variety of dishes. Now, I do not eat frozen foods but they do have a gluten free area with very little preservatives....for those who are gluten free. I did; however, purchase the chicken meatballs with garlic and the Italian style chicken meatballs...they weren't frozen just in the refrigerated section. The produce looked extremely fresh and delicious as did their meat section with a host of stuffed meats. There was stuffed pork chops, stuffed salmon, stuffed chicken and shucks, stuffed potatoes lol. The olive station has a variety of olives....from all over the world (as the sign says). I would definitely recommend this store if you're looking for healthier options. They do have great sales, only if you have a membership and honestly the sales are pretty darn good. It is hard to get around if you are there after work or on a Saturday. There is additional parking nearby, but you may have to spend extra time looking and then walking over.

The store is easy to shop around and I love their selection of health food items since I got a lot of hydrating Waters with electrolytes. Great grab and go snacks as well at a fair price. I will dock some points because the store smells really weird. I do find it really cool that this store has a bar in it too. People litter the parking lot with shopping carts and there's no reason why the security guard should be grabbing carts as well. Really clean restrooms too!
