Gold Peak is at the low end of the packaged iced tea hierarchy. Pure Leaf is up there, Snapple is…read morefine, AriZona is refreshing on a hot day but it's hard to judge how much of the enjoyment is from the beautiful metal can. Why am I discussing this beverage? Because it was in the small $8 Arnold Palmer at the State Fair, combined with a store-bought lemonade. I'm glad I didn't get the $15 watermelon Palmer. The grilled peach is a brilliant invention, expertly prepared for the second year in a row, and I'm not sure how many points should be taken off for something that isn't part of the day-to-day activities. But I don't want an $8 beverage that's 50% Gold Peak, especially from a place with farm-to-table vibes. I don't think state fair drinks have to be exclusively made with filtered rainwater from Grand Marais, but let customers choose whether to pay extra for the good stuff or just get a Pepsi.

I love being able to pick up the random things I need like a jar of local honey or peanut butter. It's also great because you can also do a real purposeful trip here and get pretty much everything you'd need from dairy products, produce, dry foods, meats, etc. They also have great seasonal produce, I've picked up pomegranates here and they have a huge pumpkin and squash collection! I think this is also a nice spot if you're looking for a gift, they've got some novelty things like stickers, mugs, and dish towels. Staff is always nice and there is no credit card minimum. COVID-19 Note: staff is always wearing a mask from what I've seen!

This a top notch Farmer's Market, right up there with the Mercato Italiano in San Diego…read more Too many farmers markets are essentially entertainment for children with very few farmers selling very sparse fresh produce. The St Paul market had stuff for children, but it is a real farmers market with real farmers selling produce from their own farms. And it was a great selection of late summer products: sweet corn, tomatoes, sweet and spicey peppers, herbs, you name it. And there were a number of providers making breakfast dishes as well as a young woman singing her heart out. One of my haves was the poet at a manual typewriter composing and selling poems on demand. What a great idea! I got one for my sweetie. The market is under shed type roofing so it wasn't in the direct sun on a very hot day. It's a year-round market so don't miss it.

This is my nirvana! I never tire of the St. Paul Farmers Market and later summer is when it's in…read moreits prime. What makes this market special is the rule that the produce/products must be grown/made within a 100 mile radius. This ensures we have local meats, produce, plants and products. You won't find pineapples or mangos at this market. It is a joy to support these hard working farmers and entrepreneurs. The market space itself is well maintained, clean and offers restrooms. There are no dogs allowed in this market. There is often live music and there are also vendors selling breakfast sandwiches, tacos, Asian eats and everything in between. Being in Lowertown, it's mostly paid street parking. This is a MUST visit!! Saturdays and Sundays only.

We spoke with the owner who let us know that there was an early harvest & lots of apples on the ground because of the unusually warm weather we had this year, but they expect an even better harvest next year! This place is family-run, and they had a nice shop with pre picked or you-pick apples, cider, local honey, homemade chapstick and more.

The day was…read moreperfect to walk around and pick some apples and this was the only orchard in the area that allowed picking apples on the weekend. What an amazing place to be! It was a smaller orchard but it made for a more personal experience. The only disadvantage that I could foresee would be parking if it were a busier weekend. On this day I was able to park fairly close to the main building to purchase a bag to hold apples. When I walked in to the mail shop area, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful! They were talking to everyone and helping everyone out with all their questions. The shop had a small variety of items such as jam, cider, apples (obviously ), and some syrup. I paid for a bag to pack apples into and headed out to the orchard. The orchard was organized and where I could pick was plainly labeled. They had plenty of apples to pick from and it was worth the price paid for the amount of apples I got. After, I sat around outside the main shop and watched others as they played yard games they were set up or enjoying a snack on the outside deck area. This was a wonderful experience and better than the big orchards where it's crowded and there more restrictions as to how to grab your apples. I would go back again and again. This is a great kid-friendly place as well!
