I stopped in to get my groceries for the week. I usually just get fruit cheese, dried nuts, and snacks here. I do not like their meat or poultry. I typically only buy my meat at butcher shops. The lines that all these always move fast. Love that they just put everything in your car and you're ready to go. So, there was nothing real special about this ALDI. I have been to several ALDI stores across the nation and this one is just average. The store itself was a bit smaller than some other locations I have visited. There is no self checkout that I could remember, the stock was low, and the store could have been a bit cleaner. Aldi's has some of the cheapest prices. I will say that sometimes Aldi beats Costco. Plus you don't need a membership or buy in bulk. If you break down costs by quantity/weight then you will see that Aldi's has the lowest prices around. I like that the cashier is able to actually sit down and scan the items. I wish more stores gave employees the option to sit down. Aldi's is very bare bones and simplistic. This is not the place for people that want their cashier to bag their items. Prices are low for a reason and its because their business model has no name brand products and less staffing. Aldi's is a German grocery store chain and most items are privately-branded and Aldi-exclusive products. Aldi's also keeps prices lower by cutting back on advertising and marketing compared to big names like Walmart, Target, Costco, etc. The shopping carts are not be brought back by employees since this store relies on less staffing to keep prices low. Bring your cart back and get your quarter back. Just insert a quarter into the slot to release the shopping cart lock. When you return the cart, you just need to put the shopping cart chain of the cart in front of yours into the slot backwards to return. read more

My experience here was completely unacceptable. An employee named Susana was extremely rude and unprofessional when I simply asked a basic question about the produce section. Instead of offering help, she responded with attitude, dismissiveness, and clear disrespect. Customer service should never involve talking down to customers or acting annoyed when someone asks a simple question. Her behavior reflected very poorly on the store and made the entire interaction uncomfortable. If you're going to work in a customer-facing role, basic professionalism and courtesy should be the minimum standard. Higher management seriously needs to address this kind of behavior, since she's the store manager, because no customer should be treated the way I was today. Horrible!!! The male cashier Juan didn't greet me when it was my turn to pay or say thank you after I paid. He didn't even look at me. All he said, "$10.01". He didn't even bag my items. This store is fairly clean and organized. The shelves are mostly stocked and the staff is friendly. The fruits and vegetables are pretty fresh and really cheap. You can get both organic and non-organic products. I love how they sell most of your essential groceries for affordable prices.They sell canned goods, bread, eggs, milk, frozen foods, and other home goods. Make sure you bring your reusable tote bags and be prepared to bag your own groceries. If you want a shopping cart, you need to use a quarter as a deposit to get the cart and you get it back when you return it. read more

I ran in here yesterday looking for some Halloween candy. This was my first visit to this Aldi location, but I have been to other locations. I know this is a type of specialty store, not like your regular Target or Ralph's. But, I knew (hoped) that they carried some basic candy and I was right! :) This location was very clean and open; I love lots of open-spaced aisles. The employees were in the middle of shelving so there were lots of boxes in one area of the aisles, but that's to be expected. I found my candy, yay, but due to lack of time I didn't get to browse the aisles for other items. Unfortunately, the employees were pretty grumpy and didn't even say boo to me. It's fine, I know we are all in a huge funk since March 2020 and the corona. It's to be expected, I suppose. The bread area was fully stocked and looked really delicious, I'm not going to lie. Do not order food online through Instacart. They don't have where you can contact them and when you try to contact them through the website, it keeps denying you so much so until you wanna give up and I think that's how they want it They charged me for items that I did not receive And let me tell you. I am missing quite a few items up to seven items that I never received. They all just want to rip you off anyway they can. They don't have numbers to the stores and when you do call a number that's what they claim they're saving money. There was a tall young man with dark hair who helped me find some of the ingredients I needed for a mango smoothie. However, at check-out, an older assistant manager ended up scanning the next person's meat item even though I told him the item was not mine. I ended up still being billed on my receipt. Great prices! European -German owned grocery store! I bought a variety of cheeses because of the prices. This store is clean. The staff were all friendly! If you need a grocery cart, drop a quarter in the locked chain slot. Don't fret, if you return the cart and lock it back, you will get your quarter back! When paying, notice all cashiers sit on chairs just like in Europe! I left my reusable grocery bag on the conveyer belt- my mistake. The cashier placed my bag in the cart along with my purchases. You need to bag your own stuff, just like in Europe! The bathrooms here are really clean! Next time I'm in Oxnard, ill definitely make a stop here! read more

I really had mixed feelings about Aldi after reading all the reviews but I wanted to like it soooo bad. The store is brand new and it took me a couple of tries to get the feel of the store and the limited inventory. They have amazingly low prices and I was impressed with that. They have a few items I really enjoyed like there iced coffee in a carton near there refrigerated creamer section and there store brand maple cookies which taste exactly like the ones from Trader Joe's for much less. I purchased my favorite California Olive Oil brand for much cheaper and in a larger bottle and was very happy about that. The reason they are able to offer the great prices is they have mostly there own brand items. What I was disappointed about was that I was not impressed with some of there 'store brands' The bread that looked like a name brand label but is actually there brand was so stale I couldn't even make sandwiches I ended up using it for toast. They say you can return items with receipt which I would of returned the bread but my receipt blew out of the shopping cart :-( I also bought some pimiento cheese spread and I was not impressed with that either. The texture of the cheese was strange. The parking lot can be a bit of a challenge. You need to bring a quarter for a deposit to get a shopping cart that gives you back your money when you return your cart. It's actually pretty user friendly as long as you remember your quarter. A guy named Daniel is so rude and in so much of a rush with no one in line I tried to straighten out my groceries and he kept throwing them in my cart and said that's how he does it. Almost as good as in germany. You get a lot for much less than at other shops. Good wines and cheeses! They have their own brands and therefore you save at least 30% compared to i.e. Ralphs. Super friendly staff and the best part: They have European Chocolate that is delicious and affordable. No, you CANNOT take the cashier's cart, haha. They don't have baskets unfortunately. You do your own bagging at their designated bagging area. The staff is courteous, fast, and get the job done. The grocery concept is smart, efficient, and I love it. Most bad reviews are bad based on ignorance. Don't like new or different? Don't bother coming here. Too cheap to rent a shopping cart? Well, you better be strong enough to carry your items to your car. Expecting a Wal-Mart? Go shop at Wal-Mart. You'll be doing the rest of us favor. Happy shopping! By the way, for those individuals complaining about cashier's sitting down and calling them lazy... THINK for a second (I know, too hard). Rudest staff. I feel bad for anyone who works here. Apparently they treat men well but it is Oxnard, don't expect much. Their poor checkout design makes it impossible to bag your own groceries and they want to force you to pay for a cart. Even when you return it, they do not give you back your change. I think it's unsafe to have women digging through their purses alerting potential thiefs outside a store and then throw items unwantedly into places in a cart at checkout. I won't be back. Aldi has a clear business plan. It sells its own versions of brand products at significantly lower prices. It uses cost-saving measures such as limited hours, and required cart return. I found most of the foods very good and actually like the brand foods. However their selections are quite limited (another cost-saving measure.) They have few free range choices other than chicken. Few choices among teas and coffees. Their bin foods (nuts, cereals, grains, flours...) can be a little stale. So, I will continue using Aldi, but I will also need to shop at a few other stores as well. read more

I used to like Aldi but the overcharged me on the bottle deposit. They charged me 60 cents instead 5 cents for each of 3 glass bottles, I gave them back and they gave me my money back. I began calling Tuesday and have been complaining and after talking to them about 4 times they called me yesterday ( Friday )and told me they were still invsestigating it. Please don't listen to the people who say that they sell knock offs brands. The whole point of Aldis is that this is a supermarket that offers lower prices by manufacturing or sourcing it's own brands. Just look up any list online that shows the top 10 products on Aldi. There are nationally loved products that are only available at Aldis. This is like being upset that Trader Joe's doesn't sell Kellogg's cereal. I tried using the coupon I received in the mail but was less than $2 under the minimum amount to be able to use it. I told the cashier I would go choose something else to add to be able to get the discount and his response was less than accommodating and unhelpful. His answer was "I would let you but it could take a long time" there was only one more customer behind me so I wasn't sure why he needed to "let me" the discount wasn't a big deal so I just didn't get anything else but the customer service could have been better. read more

Long story short the 3 start rating is due to the limited selection. Their produce selection is small and very limited. They mainly have their own brand items, which allows for cheaper prices but limits your options. You will not be able to do all your grocery shopping here, you will need to go to another store to find all the items you need. I do like the fact that you deposit 25 cents to use a cart and get it back when you return the cart. I used to be a car pusher back in my teen years and it used to drive me crazy to see how lazy people were with carts, so now you can still be lazy and leave the cart anywhere and it will cost you 25 cents lol every time I've been here staff have not been too friendly or helpful. Review #18 out of 365 I am giving 4 stars for the amazing arrangement of cheap European German food. Get the weinerschnitzel in the freezer section. OMG it's incredible. The spaetzle, also in the freezer section, available in mushroom or garlic, also delicious. Strudel, again, freezer section, yummy. I think these items were well worth the trip. However, I couldn't shop here all the time. I couldn't find the items I would normally get at Trader Joes. The produce I purchased was limited in variety, but fresh and affordable. I found a few items there under Aldi packaging rather than name brand. I just felt like something was missing. So, I would go and gather a few things, but it's a special trip, not a regular shopping location. FYI the carts require a quarter to use and you get the quarter back at the end. I think this is kinda inconvenient because I don't always carry cash/coins on me. So, something to plan for when you are retrieving your bags from the car. read more
