Fresh figs, cherries, white peaches, and tangerines
    Jay M.

When I stayed in Port Hueneme the past month, I regularly passed by the Lil Red Barn every morning on my way to work. It is, as the name suggests, a little red barn stocked with an assortment of fresh produce on Victoria Ave. The owner, Jesus, is friendly and enthusiastic about the produce he sells. From fresh cherries and strawberries to white peaches and figs, he has quite the selection for the season. As is the case at other roadside fruit stands, he lets you sample different fruits. He also sells bottles of local honey with a honeycomb wedge included inside! Most fruits were reasonably priced, but others were too expensive compared to other stands. However, the fruits have been a hit or miss lately. The white peaches I bought felt firm, but the fruit itself didn't have the crisp bite I was hoping for. The cherries were a mixed bag: Some were firm, other were old/overripe, half were sweet, and the rest had only a slight sweetness. The tangerines and figs, however, were incredibly sweet and tasty. My advice: Stop by earlier in the week and before lunch for a fresher batch of fruits.

Gorgeous and super delicious half flat of strawberries. Soooo yummy!

Loved this little place! Came here after the Channel Harbor Farmers Market on Valentine's Day. They were sold out for strawberries, so I had to look elsewhere. Couldn't return back to LA from a drive up the coast without Oxnard strawberries! A few minutes' drive from the farmers' market and I was there right away. Adorable little red barn on the corner with a small parking area. Very friendly older gentleman cashed me out with my gorgeous half flat of strawberries. He pointed out his ripe white peaches and mango, and of course he made some extra sales! Stop by! They were so yummy.... no sugar added, just clean them and enjoy!

    You know what's here.

One of many stands in Oxnard. This one stands out because it's a memorable looking thing. The man working there was so sweet. Trying to help out the customers who come in and out of the place. Half a flat of strawberries are $10 (small strawberries) $11 (big strawberries). Full flat for the small strawberries are $18 and $21 for the big strawberries. There are also oranges, cherries, blueberries, bagged snacks & a lot more. There's parking inside !!

Don't be deterred by the outside. Inside you'll find seasonally, intensely flavorful veggies. The owner is one of the planet's nicest human beings! There isn't a grocery store selection of food because it's all seasonal. Strawberries are off the hook!!

Good place to buy! Cheap and fresh. Love this place I highly recommend to buy even fresh flowers. Friendly and yet nice place to visit . Always open and they even let you taste the fruit . Corn oranges

Read about this place on yelp before my May visit to Oxnard. The hotel also recommended it. I am not sure about the rest of the year, but the week before the Strawberry Festival was a great time to get strawberries. There were fields everywhere, with busy pickers. The berries were so big and sweet, i ended up going back to buy more during my stay.

Friendly service. Lots of produce. Came for strawberries and even though they looked and smelled amazing, they tasted disgustingly bitter

Anyone who buys fresh produce knows that sometimes a papaya, jicama, or other fruit can look perfect on the outside but end up going bad on the inside--that's just nature. What sets this place apart is how they handle it. If you bring it to their attention, they'll happily replace it at no extra cost. The same goes for their farm-fresh eggs. They genuinely care about their customers and stand behind their products. Their eggs are local, high quality, and incredibly reasonably priced for what you're getting. The produce is always fresh, and their customer service is exceptional. They once gave us a rue plant that wasn't looking its best, and today it's absolutely thriving. Another thing we love is their beautiful sunflower bouquets. They're only $5 a bunch, which is already a great deal. Even better, if you stop by near closing and the sunflowers are fully opened and at the end of their display life, they'll often give them away for free rather than let them go to waste. It's clear that this is a family business that values quality, fairness, and their community. We keep coming back because we know we'll always be treated honestly and with kindness. Highly recommended!

Whats neat about this farmers market is that it's actually local! Most of the goods are from Oxnard and not a random town thats hours away like other markets. The artisans are all pretty friendly and happy that you're there. I really enjoyed the vibe and how pleasant everyone was. Plenty of parking and a lot of vendors accept different payment methods. I recommend coming here and getting a snack if you are going on any of the local boat tours to the islands.

The market had many more booths than I was expecting after reading the write up. They had a mix of food items for sale from fruits and veggies to desserts, to fish to drinks but they also had jewelry, clothes, toys, cremes and balms and other assorted items. Their fruits and veggies were impressive. It was so vibrant, colorful, fragrant. Enjoy my photos of the berries to see what I mean. I did buy a bakery item from the booth that had a lot of items, but no one in line, no wait versus the other booth that had a good amount of items but about 15 people in line. I should have known. My coffee cake item had saran wrap but it had a hole in it, and it was very stale. I am assuming that the hole led to it being stale and not that it was an old item not freshly made that day. It was very disappointing. If you are in the area, stop in and check it out.
