They had a booth at a festival which was covered in QR codes. There were no menus posted, but…read moreordering was available via the QR code. When I ordered via the QR code, the people at the booth claimed my order went to the restaurant. They spoke to a supervisor at the restaurant and claimed they could not give me the food, but they would refund me. The refund never came, so I called the restaurant, they had me leave a message, then they never called back. It's pretty much the opposite of dine and ditch. I paid, i got nothing, and they still have not refunded my money. Update: The owner called me and thanked me for the one-star review. This was not a surprise because, if you look at the previous one-star reviews, you will see a history of combativeness and customers complaining of harassing messages after reviews. He claims his system cannot give refunds, he can only give refunds in person, in cash or store credit. A simple google of the platform policy make it clear that is a untrue: https://vnfoodex.kwickmenu.com/terms.php. He can see my location on here, so he knows I live too far away to go in-store for a refund. If you are ordering online, please keep this in mind. If you investigate their Yelp further, you will see many favorable reviews hidden, which means the system is flagging suspicious behavior. This might explain the abundance of stars overall despite a lot of similar bad reviews to mine.

Finally checked out Ventura Meat Company and yeah... this is the kind of spot that makes you side…read moreeye grocery store meat counters forever. You can tell there's real care behind what they do. Everything feels intentional, from the quality of the meat to the fact that they practice whole-animal butchery and source locally through Hobson Family Farms. Love supporting businesses that are actually rooted in the community instead of just slapping "local" on a label. Also obsessed that they make everything in-house... jerky, sausages, beef sticks, bone broth powder, seasonings, even beef tallow. They also carry artisan bread, fresh produce, and organic milk, so somehow I walked in for meat and left feeling like a pioneer woman lol. The space itself feels warm, welcoming, and very Ventura in the best way. Clean, rustic, community-oriented... the kind of place where you can tell the regulars genuinely love coming in. It has that old-school neighborhood butcher shop energy but without feeling intimidating or pretentious. The staff was super welcoming and patient answering questions without making anyone feel intimidated. Whether you know your cuts of meat or you're just there because someone told you "trust me," they make the experience approachable. Honestly feels like one of Ventura's hidden gems. Made my husband very happy. He literally made flank steak the second we got home and was completely content. Now he's suddenly talking about buying a smoker!
