Came here to get some mayo and cheese, but of course, I always manage to get more. I like Aldi because it is a minimalist grocery store with prices that, after an increase across the board of various food items, seems to be good at keep those rising costs to a minimum. A dz. eggs for $2.37? High? Yes, but this is a deal compared to eggs costing as much as $5 a dz. in traditional grocery stores. They have traditional grocery items, but most are off brand with some name brand items sprinkles throughout. Yes, you have to pay 25 cents for a cart, but get it returned when you return the cart at the entrance. Yes, you have to pay for bags (both paper and reusable plastic), but you can bring them back with you to reuse over. They also have a bin of cardboard boxes they you can use for free to place your purchases in, if you want. The cashiers sit in chairs (yes, chairs) as they ring up your purchases and I couldn't the happier for them. Being on your feet hours on end is not a comfortable thing. All in all, I enjoy shopping at Aldi and will continue as a nice alternative to traditional grocery establishments.

I'm an Aldi-head. The price comparison with major food stores can be unbelievable at times. I came here for fruit to go on my charcuterie board, crackers, havarti cheese, olives and a 5 pound bag of potatoes. Well I got that and more of course but they had everything I needed except for the buns I needed for the chili dog bar I'm making as well for tonight's festivities! Cashier was bubbly and happy to ring me up. Be sure to make a list and try to stick with it and bring your shopping bags from home. Oh & don't forget your quarter for the cart, yes you rent the cart but you get it back or can pay it forward, like I do! This store is always pretty clean except the fresh fruit cooler look like hurricane NEW YEAR hit it Great place for all of those "THINGS" that would cost a fortune other places. It's the little things....

Nice new store where Weiss grocery used to be, just a few doors down from Total. Picked up a couple of ingredients for dinner. A few of my favorites were not yet in stock, and the layout is different from other Aldi, usually I can go straight to the next item on my list without looking around. Plenty of parking, hand sanitizer at the door, fewer sphincters who have no clue what 6' means, wish the one near me was more like this.

This store seems to be renovated. A lot of parking space. Everything else is as in any other ALDI store. But no self-checkout.

Class Produce is a distributor that carries organic as well as conventional produce. I am considered a "cash customer" (even though I can pay by Visa or MasterCard) since I purchase as an individual. Twice a week, I receive a spreadsheet by e-mail of current stock items and prices. Pick-up is Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m.--12:00 noon, and the order must be received by the close of business a day ahead of time. Some pointers: -most deliveries come in overnight on Sunday, so the best day for pick-up is Monday. -check your produce on-site or as soon as you get home. Class will not issue a credit for items 24 hours after pick-up. I've had 3 small issues (fruit that wasn't optimal) since I started ordering from here, and Class was quick in resolving the situation, but the first time that I called, I did not know that I had a 24-hour window. -the warehouse is in Jessup right next to a new car storage lot, and it can seem a little bit confusing to navigate your first time there. Back your vehicle into one of the loading bays to the right of the entrance (the bays here start at #16, I believe), and go into the office (you need to be buzzed in) to verify your order and pay. -a weekly CSA (conventional and organic) is available for a good price, but I haven't taken advantage of this yet. The staff at Class has been professional and friendly--I like working with the front office employees as well as the warehouse guys. Loading assistance is available if you need it. Am I saving money? Yes! For example, the first pomegranates of the season just arrived last week. I paid $55 for a case of 36 (about $1.52 each). Organic pomegranates at WF are $2.99 each. Most everything is offered by the case, but there are a few items that come pre-packaged (e.g. dozen-counts of avocados, apples and pears). I wish that another family would share in ordering with us, so that I could buy more vegetables, but we definitely go through the fruit. When I order a case of organic bananas ($24 for 40 lbs), we'll let some ripen and freeze the rest for smoothies. Over the summer, the peaches and berries were a hit. In all, I highly recommend this place if you have a family of 5 or more (or want to share a produce haul with a friend). The fact that I can pick up organic produce from a distributor before it sits on a grocery shelf for who knows how long is wonderful. If you try it out, let me know what you think!

This spot has so many wonderful food stands. Upon walking in, you can pick up a cart to explore all of the stands. My kids love this place as much as me since you can find so much variety. Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here. It's such a fun place and my kids love it. But most importantly, this is dad's spot!

Using his wits, his ingenuity, and unparalleled levels of skill and perseverance, Aatami Korpi, who earns the moniker of "the man who cannot die," escapes not just bombs and machine gun fire but a plane deployed as a missile. And yet, the most moving moment of the film is not found in one of its many arresting action sequences but in a single line of dialogue, spoken by one of six Finnish men, who, along with one teenager and one boy, carrying hatchets, axes, and tools, interrupts the battle-finished Korpi's work on his new home to ask in Finnish, subtitled in English, "We thought you might need some help?" Speechless and shaking with relief and joy, Korpi watches the strangers get to work on his roof, walls, and foundation. That level of kindness, assistance, delight, joy, skill, and service can be seen in every vendor at the Dutch Country Market Thursdays through Saturdays at 9701 Fort Meade Rd in Laurel, MD. Whether it is homemade pretzels, pasta salads, chili, produce, meats, cheeses, popcorn, donuts, or varieties of dark chocolate, candy, or fudge you seek, you will find plenty to whet your appetite. Mind you, most, if not all, of everything contains zero preservatives. Our advice is to buy what you can enjoy soon or share your purchases with company before it's too late.

My search brought me to Gorman farm, which is very close to my home. I arrived to the farm to find beautiful expensive berries that were pick that day. I hesitated to buy them, but I was excited. I got them home to find fragile berries underneath the top berries. Quite a few berries had to be thrown out. Whether they were moldy or were home to bugs/slugs. I ended up cutting a lot away from the berries, trying to savage them. I am not sure I will give them another try pre-pick is $4/pint, $8/ quart, or self pick sign said $6/lb. Pretty steep!

You're interested enough to read a Web site about food? Go buy from people growing food in Howard County at the newly-rejuvinated farm between Rte 29 and U.S. 1. (UPDATE: My friend went today, and someone at the farm said they're not open for business yet. Definitely call ahead if you're going to drive a long way.) Lydia and Dave Liker have leased the farm on Gorman Road, and they sell produce just in from the field. This is about a mile south of the Harris Teeter in King's Contrivance. Much of the Liker's produce goes out through their "community supported agriculture" program where people paid $550 for weekly boxes of vegetables from June through October. But you can pick up fresh vegetables by stopping at the farm and buying from the Likers -- or from Dave's father, who helped me buy on Saturday. I saw a new sign for the Gorman Produce Farm on my way to the Savage library. The sign doesn't really say that you can buy vegetables there, but I drove down a gravel road to the signs that say "park here" and "produce here." Inside a building were plastic tubs and boxes full of vegetables -- squash, basil, cabbage, green beans, eggplants, chard, and on and on. I broke out my "emergency" $20 bill, and I bought carrots, kohlrabi, squash and lettuce. They're beautiful and delicious. The vegetables are not certified organic, but the Likers say on their Web site that they grow everything according to organic principles. That works for me because I'm skeptical of government "organic" labels -- just like I'm skeptical about the government labels for "local" produce. Why not believe a farm where you can look around yourself? You can meet the farmers most days until about 6 pm. The CSA pick-up is Thursday, and they say people can pick up until 6 pm. Dave Liker said that the gates on Gorman close when they're closed for the day. His father pointed out that it's a working farm, so there are times when people drive up and the Likers are too busy working to make a sale. Gorman's prices seem about what you pay at the Howard County farmers markets. Tomatoes should ripen in a week or so. Corn is on the way. The fields are just going to deliver more and more through the end of the summer.

They regularly do tasting on the weekend typically with a good range of types. You like spirits? This place is how I benchmark whether I am paying too much elsewhere. This first thing I look for at any other liquor store is, how much would this have been at corridor? I've been coming here for years aka since I became of age. They take underage drinkers that come in this store seriously, so if you have a young face be prepared. They also may give you a hard time if you come with your sibling who might be not 21 yet. They once gave me a hard time for standing in front of someone who looked young, so that was weird. I guess the moral of that short story, is this place is for "relative" grown ups who are at least 21. As you walk in the store you will find yourself at the beginning of the wine section, to your left will be the beer and to the far right are two aisle that have the hard spirits. Ready, set, go. All the prices I've seen are on par with the cheapest I've found as far as the spirits go. The wine selection is massive however my prowess as a wine drinker is fairly amateur so I'll leave that to the corridor wine experts. The prices on craft beers are pretty much what you would expect, craft brew= higher price. They do have good prices on big box beer but I can't honestly tell you the last time I bought a 38 pack of any light lagers. I typically stick to the MD craft brews, always good to support good ol' MD. They also have all the bar supplies but the prices I've seen on red solo cups, ping pong balls, bottle openers, etc are a little bit high. It's good if you forgot the pick up something but you'll pay a little more. It's a good thing you saved money on all the liquor right??? Forgot to mention they also have cigars, also a rookie in that field though so no comment on selection or pricing.
