If a customer asks about a price because something rings up for a different price than marked, you don't ask them about their financial situation and make like they can't pay the extra 45 cents. You should be pricing your items clearly and accurately, and not insulting customers because you're not doing that. read more

I like Aldi in general, and this is the closest/most convenient one to me. This would not be my favorite individual Aldi, as it doesn't have everything that other Aldi stores do, and in general, prices at this Aldi are usually some of the highest you'll find (and yes, I get around, and many different Aldi stores have different pricing on many different things...especially milk, eggs, and other things in the dairy and product areas). Having said that, this is still a good, solid grocery store for me. It ain't about having tons of choices, but it *is* about having one, usually very good quality, choice of an item, at a much lower price point than other local grocery stores. The Aldi brand products, at least the majority of them, are very high quality items, and some actually surpass their name brand rivals. NOT EVERY ALDI BRAND PRODUCT WILL BE GOOD, to be sure, but a good deal of them are quite good, and offer significant savings, in many cases. This store, having been recently remodeled and enlarged, is a pretty good (but not great) Aldi. I have no problem with it in general, and shop here often. If I didn't like it, I would not shop there, period. The parking lot is very good, well lit, and the employees I've dealt with have been decent human beings, who seem to want to do their jobs. It is an Aldi. Located on 8 Mile on the Ferndale side, large private lot. In case people don't know--Rows of shopping carts outside linked together by locking chains you have to put a quarter in to unlock. Relock when you leave to get the quarter back. No bags, they usually have a few spare boxes if you forgot your own bags. You check out and the cashier puts your stuff into the most recent customer's former cart, when positions yours for the next person's stuff. A little more sparse on meats and frozen food than some other locations. The staff was fine. They do not have a Sunday morning permit for alcohol, they told me the nearby church blocked them. Meh, the selection here isn't that great from all the other ALDI's I've been to in other states (PA, NJ, MD, NY). There are a lot of products that rolled out within the last few weeks that they hadn't even got yet (Keto bread and keto ice cream) and even one of their deep freezers was totally bare with nothing in it. A lot of staples I usually see elsewhere they didn't even have (grits, frozen, turkey burgers, and tons of ALDI Finds). There are several other ALDI stores in the area so I'm gonna try those next time before I come back to this one. read more

They don't have everything, but they have the basics, at a great price. I tend towards buying the staples here, which are about 2/3 the price of regular supermarkets, and way way less than the name brand products, even with a coupon. I have never been much of a brand addict, so this is a great place for me. The regular price milk is always cheaper than milk everywhere else, even when it is on sale (1 gal size). The quality of their food is excellent, in my opinion. I usually get sugar, milk 1/2 & 1/2, coffee, margarine, butter, cereal, chips/crackers, cheese, canned foods (Corn, beets, green beans, black beans), rice, pasta and pasta sauce, and tomato soup. I just noticed they have a good selection of frozen fish, as well. The center aisle of the store has different types of household product specials from humidifiers, to kids furniture and other interesting items. They also carry some European foods - The down side is that sometimes you come to rely on a product that they stop stocking (like their sister store Trader Joes). Sometimes the milk is close to expiring, so you have to pay attention. Sometimes there is only one checker so it can take a while in line - but the store isn't huge, so its not like it takes forever. The store is really really clean. It is minimalist (a quarter to unlock the shopping cart that you get back when you return it, bring your or buy bags and bag your self, one selection of an item. Friendly Small European Chain with essentials priced low. great values and always clean. they don't stock everything but what they do stock is good. great selection of spices, salads, dressings, frozen meats and veggies - even italian gellato and german strudels. pizza galore, and all your family friendly favorites. even occassional specials on major brands. fresh flowers cheap. you pay .25 to rent your shopping card and you pack your own bags; to keep the prices low. I absolutely love the prices and convenience of this location, however, the employees (one in particular) always has a bad attitude, doesn't ever say please or thank you and demands you put you groceries in a group because it works best for her. All the pet peeves needs to be addressed with the employees. Soft skills and professionalism isn't common, a training is needed for all staff. read more

If you go to the Aldi on Eight Mile, Ferndale, make sure the cashier who works in any of the registers inform you if that register is closed. I unloaded over 40 groceries. A male, heavy-set build, with copper coloring in his hair, got up from the seat and walked away. I thought he was coming back. A young lady working in the meat section had to leave her location to tell me isle #6 was closed. That guy could have told me isle #6 was closed!!! After I reported his dismal, the supervisor who told him to leave (I heard the intercom for him), to go back and open up about 10 minutes later. Aldi, tell your supervisors to make sure the cashiers inform customers if they are closed. And, don't wait until the customer unloads all the groceries to tell cashier to leave. Don't take your frustration out on customers. Just keep your ass at home. read more

This is the best aldi. Sometimes they have lacroix 15 packs for 3.99. Also, they have a great selection. I never like produce from aldi but packaged goods, frozen and dairy is always on point. read more

We switched over about six months ago not for the good price on the groceries but we had to go "gluten-free" they are unbeatable for their products. The "live well" brand is incredible and very competitively priced. read more

Interesting little grocery store. Here they pride themselves on having higher quality but lower cost than most grocery stores. I guess I would have to agree, although its must easier for me to run up to a Kroger than here. All the aisles here are super short, and you sort of feel like you are shopping in a completely different world than your regular grocery store. I am kind of iffy about the whole experience. Personally, I like the familiar brands I use and aren't as opened-minded about trying un-heard of brands, which they showcase in here. read more

The security guard threatened me because I was moving carts from the parking lot. And the reason was because he said he wasn't getting paid enough and he wanted the quarters for himself, LOL. It is not my fault that you get paid chump change. Don't put your problems on me! It was not his job to do such a thing and it's not my job to care how much you get paid. I'm not the one that hired you. Instead of paying attention to your precious carts and quarters, you should be monitoring the store for thieves. He needs to get fired cuz he's obviously not doing his job and he cares more about money. Just in case you want to know who it was. He was a white guy with glasses and he drives a gray / silver pickup truck. I wouldn't be surprised if it was race-related. read more

Aldi's seem to have the mind set that folks in lower economic areas don't deserve the same quality that their Trader Joe's has. It's a shame that Aldi's carries lower quality goods when they could offer many of the same products that they sell at Trader Joe's and still make money. read more
