With a little time to spend you can likely find comparable items, in bulk for much less at Costco but GNC does have some harder to find items.

He wasn't pushy at all and I really appreciated that. He didn't try to sell me anything I didn't need. The product I left with was the naturally sweetened GNC brand protein. I bought the vanilla and it tastes like a vanilla cupcake when mixed with almond/coconut milk. The consistency is great and the employee needed to drink his for the day so he even showed me his so I knew what it looked like before I bought it. I'm seriously one of the pickiest people when it comes to taste and protein powder; I've tried Designer Whey, Vega Chai Flavor, RAW Nutrition, Plant Head, Spirutein, Quest, EAS, and a few other whey based ones I can't remember. The GNC brand is so good, has a super short ingredient list, and tastes so good that I will only purchase it from now on and none of the others. The only one that compares in taste is Quest, but Quest contains sucralose (can't tolerate) and is pricey. The GNC brand is a whey based protein but it's super filtered so it doesn't bother my lactose intolerance (no bloating or other bad side effects!) like other brands have. The price isn't that bad either. As for the location, it's a smaller sized GNC. They have a good selection of protein and vitamins. The parking can be a little inconvenient. I went on a Sunday so it was free to park but I know during the week you may have to put some money in the meters. However, the location and parking isn't as important to me as quality products and good employees.

P+P is a great business showcasing goods that speak to the heart of Detroit. Community, health,…read morefamily... That's Pillar + Pride. My first visit was to pick up some coffee from Bean Brothers, a michigan-based brand that I had found out was being carried in person by Pillar and Pride. I could just drop in and grab some when I was running low. Checking out their website ahead of time, I was excited to see the goods that they carried and showcased. Wellness is a theme of their product offerings, with a variety of supplements and items to help atune yourself to a feeling of balance. But there's also a lot of good food. :) Tyree offered me a sample of some barbecue sauce from Williams Food Company, another local brand. It was delicious, and a bottle of it went home with me. (If you go by it's the five spice sauce, which is really different from any sort of barbecue sauce off the shelf. It has a little kick, and it's a little sweet. Go in and try some.) It's also worth mentioning that in the back corner there are a variety of books the touch on topics that speak to thriving in your life, children's books where kids of color can see themselves represented in the pages, and titles looking at improving your health. Lots of local authors are represented here too. It's an awesome variety. P+P also has a great presence on social media, and hosts events in their space, to try and further promote the ideas are at the core of their mission. Actually I first became aware of them because they were hosting discussions on Instagram Live about COVID and Detroit's concerns and discussions around a vaccine that would hopefully protect them. It was honest and frank conversation that gave me a lot of perspective that I wouldn't have had otherwise. At the heart of Pillar and Pride is the family that runs it. You can tell they care about Detroit so much. You can tell that they care about the people they serve. And if that's not a reason to go check them out, I don't know what is. :) Support black owned businesses. Support small businesses. Support Detroit.
