I've always loved Aldi, but my visit to the Compton location on 08/17/25 at 5:35pm was the worst supermarket experience I've ever had. Our cashier, Christopher, took my box of groceries, did a flip with it, and dumped all my fresh vegetables and blackberries onto the conveyor belt, creating a loud boom that froze the entire store. He then remarked, "I wish we could scan it through the box, but we can't." I was shocked and disappointed--he could have simply asked me to place the items on the belt. To add insult to injury, when my fiancé picked up the box, Christopher joked, "It's always the little one that's strong," then turned to me and said, "You better watch out, she's going to beat you up," before laughing. Bro instantly shifted from cashier to commentator, acting entitled and unprofessional. Absolute best customer service and entertainment ever (sarcasm). Bottom line: stay in your grocery lane, lol. This is the only grocery store that I have came to 5 minutes before closing time that is closed. The door states it closes at 9pm not 8:55pm. I am never coming here again. I just needed 1 item. I happened to be in the area and decided to stop in since there's not an Aldi close by me. Love, love, love this store! I found everything I was looking for and at great prices! I found the entire store to be clean, well stocked, and high quality products. Finally, made it out to Aldi to see what kind of bargains will I score rather than hitting up my local grocery store. They have a nice selection of certain fresh products and other things but I can tell it's one of those hit or miss places. Really, it's based on what they get delivered but it's worth shopping with Aldi 1st before going where you know you'll find certain brands and paying full price. If you have the time & have an Aldi nearby it's worth a trip. They had a nice variety in cheese's; WIN-WIN! Unfortunately, you'll have to double check real good on what you purchased besides just checking the expiration date. A block of cheese that I purchased was moldy inside under the wrapper. Which at the time of purchasing, I only looked at the expiration date; not thinking I would have to try my best to look under the foggy texture wrapper to find mold. Thankfully I bought 2 different types so I was still able to work with 1 for my dinner. My only not so great experience was when paying and bagging my stuff. The cashier was not the friendliest and when asked if I wanted to buy a bag I politely told him I had my own and waited for him to slide my stuff over so I can start bagging it. No, instead I literally was reaching across in front of him, his face over the barcode scanner to bag my stuff. 1.) I do not mind bagging my own stuff I actually enjoy it. 2.) Why would you not slide my stuff across so that I wouldn't have to be reaching in front of you to get my stuff? Pandemic or not it's just weird. I even looked at him "Like are you serious right now?" and he was so nonchalant about it. I realized I never did get a receipt when I realized I had moldy cheese. Good prices, bad customer service. I came here with my sister over the weekend. The store kind of looks like a warehouse, and there aren't many workers around that you can ask questions. The store was virtually empty, not many customers, which I liked. Everything was great until we got to checkout and an Asian male in his late 30s/early 40s checked us out. I didn't know where the reusable bags were since it was my first time here. The cashier directed us but he seemed in a hurry the whole time, and bothered by the question. He didn't make eye contact, just kept scanning and tried rushing us the whole time. I understand speedy service is efficient, but there's a thin line between efficiency and bad customer service. I felt like he was trying to get rid of us so he could help the next person. Horrible way of treating customers. read more

I'd normally shop at this location every 1-2 weeks & have noticed some of the same issues discussed in previous ratings. From being charged twice to being rushed out after check out, the experiences seem to get worse & worse. During my last visit, I asked an employee (after searching for someone for 10 mins) of the pricing of an item was correct because it looked too good to be true. He confirmed the price & I proceeded to check out. My mistake was not double checking that the cashier did their job correctly since each item was actually charged 5Xs more than the listed price. In returning the items, the cashier was not properly trained in how to process the return & so kept calling to the manager in store called Jeff. This man was rude, condescending & unprofessional to both his employee & myself when asking him questions. Jeff proceeded to refer customers in line to other registers (employees came out of the wood works), leaving an older gentleman behind me to wait. This man waited 10-15 mins while the cashier tried to figure out how to return me my money, something Jeff was not helpful in. Eventually I tried to calm down the cashier as she was overwhelmed. The gentlemen behind me eventually called Jeff our for neglecting to helping him instead of allowing him to go to another register to pay prior to other customers; Jeff had the AUDACITY to yell at this older gentlemen, obviously projecting his frustration into him like he did with the cashier. This situation could had been prevented had Jeff properly ensure that listed prices where in fact correct. Advertising a bag of potatoes for $0.79 when they're truly $5.79 started a chain of events that as manager is his responsibility. Jeff showed horrible leadership which obviously affects the moral of his staff as well as the experience of customer. As a former loyal customer, I've seen many managers come & go. Jeff by far is the one that has painted Aldi in the worst light as the employment of such an unprofessional manager affects this location in many ways. This rating for the security girl guard. She came to me and my kid telling us the store is closed. I said okay I proceeded to checkout. Yet I didn't see her tell other customers. First and last time shopping here. Everything is cheap for a reason!!! I bought some poultry items and some steak/meats and when I got home and opened up the packaging, everything smelled so rancid. Upon separating the meat, I discovered gray spots and slimy texture. I smelled the meat - and oh my god it smelled like something died. The chicken was the same. And neither had expired yet, according to the labels. I purchase fruits as well and once I got home I noticed they were also starting to go bad. I didn't notice it much in the store because of the plastic packaging. I tried reaching out to their customer service team online and I still haven't gotten a response. I asked them if they just sell old meat and manipulate it by dipping back in blood, or any other way just to make it look fresh again. Or if they just plaster on new expiration labels to lie to us about fresh meat. No response... Now I have to drive back and return everything. It's my regular go to market and usually, I don't have a problem here except for today! There were two items where I was charged incorrectly even though they were marked 50% off. Also, I waited 15 to 20 minutes at the register because the codes were invalid for the two sale items - roma tomatoes and limes. The cashier asked three other employees including the manager to retrieve a valid code. They apologized and I subsequently contacted headquarters. Considering that both Aldi's and Trader Joe's are the same company, they are extremely stingy towards customer satisfaction...words are cheap and action is far stronger. Based on my negative Trader Joe's corporate headquarters experience and Aldi's today, I've come to realize that this multi-billion dollar company doesn't give a shit about customers ! read more

I visited the store for the first time tonight. I had never seen these stores here. I had seen them in south New Jersey, but never went inside. It was underwhelming experience, topped off with a very rude employee. I politely asked her what type of store is Aldi, and I received a facial expression that I would liken to having asked the dumbest question in the world. I then said never mind. She then rolled her eyes and asked me, "What type of question is that?" I then further explained that I had never seen Aldi here. She then said, "Oh... it's German" and walked away. I generally didn't like Aldi's prior to visiting this location. The ones I had previously visited were dimly lit and felt dirty. This location has changed my opinion. It is bright and clean and the selection feels fresh. This store has a limited selection compared to Food4Less or Ralph's. If you are searching for basics then this will work well. They have a frozen, refrigerated, meat, alcohol, cleaning, and non-perishable section. Some items are deeply discounted compared to the bigger chain stores. You have to have the time to search the prices if you are looking for groceries to feed a family. Overall I think this is a great place to go to before going to a big chain store so you can cherry pick the deals. read more

Bought milk with a expiration date of April 27. Opened it up for some on the 22nd and the milk has gone bad. This has happened once before and I am now never going to shop at Aldi's. Bread is not good. Fruits and vegetables are bad too. Over all they don't even deserve one star. read more

This store is horrible. I went into the store to use the restroom and as I was walking to the bathroom, I started to feel very nauseous because of the combo of medication I took as well as the heat. I asked the cashier to please open the bathroom as I grabbed a trash can and started vomiting. She looks at me and shouts the code. I asked her again if she could please open the bathroom. She, finally opens the restroom. I go in and sit in the toilet, shaking and trying to regain composure. I was in the bathroom for about 15 minutes. When I came out, I went up to the cashier, while wearing my mask and keeping social distance. I was embarrassed and apologized as well as tried to reassure her there was no mess in the bathroom, however, as soon as I started speaking, she very loudly, in front of other customers, said that she can't have me shopping here because I am sick. I was mortified. Now I've got people staring at me angrily like I came in the store to spread coronavirus. I do not have coronavirus. I was sick, like I'm always sick, when I take this medication as well as when I am in extreme heat. The combination is awful. So, here I am, shaking, embarrassed, following all Covid protocol and trying to reassure her that I didn't make a mess and she embarrassed me and was very rude. What's worse is that Aldi has zero way for you to contact their store to speak to the manager. The phone number listed on yelp sends me to a menu where the only option is to listen to pre recorded information. On their website, there is a live chat option which is not available so the only way for me to speak to the manager about this employee's terrible behavior is to send an email. I will never ever shop at Aldi again. I'be never felt so ostracized in my life. She, actually jeopardized my safety and completely violated my privacy by her actions. I may be taking further action against this store if this issue is not resolved to my satisfaction. This was absolutely discrimination. read more

I have visited this Aldi several times over the past few months and really enjoy shopping there. It's always very clean and well-organized. It would be nice if they had some music playing, but it isn't worth taking a star off for it. They sell a very nice selection of healthy and organic food for very reasonable prices. Totally works for me :) It's surprising to see that their staff has received some less than kind reviews. In my experience, I have found the staff here to be pretty helpful and friendly. I had The most pleasant experience at this location. I had Been to another Aldi in Long Beach and could not find a product I wanted to purchase so I decided To drive to Compton to ask. I approached A gentleman who was very good but didn't get his name he was able to refer me to Johnny to continue to help me. Johnny went above and beyond to help me find the product. He searched the store, the back, the computer and contacted 3 stores for me on his personal phone it looked like!! I was so impressed by his dedication and the many suggestions/ solutions he had. Most stores were out of stock and I ended Up trying my luck in Fountain Valley which he told me they did have stock and I was Able to find what I was Looking for. So I have been curious about Aldi for a while but haven't gone here until today. First thing that is annoying is that you have to use a quarter to use a cart. No wipes or sanitary spray for the carts. And once I got inside I can't really say I'm impressed. While there were some things that were interesting nothing was truly great price wise. A few nice holiday candies and interesting cheeses but not much else I would buy. We left without buying anything. Glad we didn't because the line was really long. I'll stick to Smart And Final. Though I will say the parking is easy and there's a Target next door and I think they have groceries too. read more

Its annoying having to deposit quarter for cart. (Need to make sure to carry change). You have to take your stuff elsewhere and bag. Even at food 4 less, it's less annoying then here. I was at Target next door and really wasn't impressed with the express Salas selection so I decided to walk down to Aldi which is next door. Upon walking up I saw a bunch of carts but they had a lock hanging down and I noticed it had a slot for a quarter. Well I had no quarter on me so luckily I wasn't planning on doing a whole lot of shopping. I browsed through isle by isle and it was nice it was different, wide open isle it wasn't busy when I went. They also have an isle for little trinkets you wouldn't usually find at a grocery store. The price were pretty decent but I did notice they didn't carry a ton of the big name brands. So I got my salad, some burger buns, and salad dressing and went about my way. After telling my sister about the cart thing she let me know that you get the quarter back it's just away to get the basket back to the front of the store ... clever :). I'll be returning WITH a quarter to do more shopping. read more

I love shopping at Aldis . I notice my bill is cheaper in comparison to other grocery stores . What sucks a lot about this particular Aldis is that customer service with Marcos is always horrible . I don't know if he's used to others praising his physique or what but he always has a shitty attitude and doesn't know how to respond to "thank you " or any other question that involves him having to open his mouth. I love this store and it was much needed in this shopping center. The prices are good. The selection in Aldi isn't big like your normal grocery store but somehow the manage to have everything that you need. They carry a pretty good wine selection, decent meats, plenty of dairy products and a nice variety of deli meats and cheeses. Remember to bring your quarter for the cart and know that tellers are not chatty and will place your items in the cart for you to walk to the bagging counter and put in your own bags. Also, you get your quarter back when you return the cart where it goes. Finally, during this pandemic, don't feel badly that your grocer isn't chatty. I wouldn't want customer after customer breathing in my space either. Let's keep the dialogue to a minimum and let them earn a living and keep it moving. read more
