The Redondo Beach Farmers Market is located in Veterans Park in Redondo Beach. It is within easy…read morewalking distance of the Pier, Beach, and the Park. It only occupies a portion of the lot, so one can still park in the lot to minimize the distance for easy in/out. Currently it runs in the morning on Thursday, stopping around 1 pm, so good for a lunch stop. It DOES have a marvelous view of the ocean. There are two areas: the biggest one in the parking lot, and a smaller one on the George Freeth Way road (where we usually park our car in angled metered spots on non-farmer market days, of course). I would say it fits into the medium/small size farmer's market in LA (with Santa Monica being large and Marina del Rey being towards the smaller), with the typical produce like organic eggs and fruits (strawberries). The vendors seemed to specialize in one or two types of sales. It wasn't crowded at all, and there was opportunity to talk to the vendors without feeling like you were holding others up. There are plenty of variety of prepared food as well, with one of the bigger stands selling freshly popped kettle corn (with free samples!).

I got some delicious kefir cheese yogurt here from the Frenchy for 4 for $24 in the flavors sour Cherry, guava, apricot and banana. I also sampled lemon and it was delicious. They also had fun flavors like honey lavender that I'd like to come back and try. There was an organic hand printed Indian fabric clothing stand too with beautiful dresses. My brother bought a $10 purse there. I bought 3 potted herb plants (including Vietnamese herbs) to plant in my yard. They had fresh flowers, fruits, the classic kettle corn and a lot more to offer here! My brother also got an espresso spritzer for $5 at a Japanese coffee stand and it was high quality and delicious. The bad: You have to pay for parking unless you park further on the street (like we did) and walk over. The interesting: I think the Frenchy is from Sacramento. I'm unsure if they always sell at this market or if it was a special occasion.

There is one bakery, one produce vendor, one honey guy, one jewelry vendor - you get the idea. That said, the vendors that are there are extremely nice, helpful, you never feel pressured, and you can try most of the product before purchase. There's a variety of food offerings from Asian, Mediterranean, Mexican, Pupusas, etc. and theres tables and chairs at the very end of the market that usually has musicians playing while you enjoy your eats. This is a once a month visit for me as it's essentially the same thing every week BUT make sure you visit around holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas for additional vendors and entertainment.

It was empty and less people. There's a pay parking meter, and the minimum is $2 for just 30 minutes so right from the start, it felt a bit off. Once I parked, I walked through, and the market itself was really tiny: probably about 20 to 30 vendors in total. You can walk the whole thing in less than five minutes, and the variety was really limited. For example, there was only one vendor selling berries, and the food options were scarce and just didn't look appetizing. The prices were high for what little you got. I probably won't be coming back, maybe I just missed something, but it didn't live up to the hype. On the bright side, there was live music, which was really nice, and the neighborhood felt safe with police presence, plus they did have restrooms available. But overall, it just didn't have that special charm I was hoping for.
