This place needs a lot of improvement as far as customer service. This is my second time here. First time was years ago and now I remember why I never returned since the first time. The manager, guard or whoever that man is who always has something to say needs to lighten up and take a chill pill. Years ago we wanted to use an empty carton box to put our stuff in and the manager or man who runs the front immediately said we couldn't use it and that they would need to charge us for it. It was literally cardboard that they were going to dispose but they wanted to nickel and dime us. He gave us an attitude about it but we didn't entertain it or argue back so we left after our purchase. Needless to say he wasn't nice or friendly about it. Today, my partner and I gave this place another shot. Years later right? We were picking our strawberries to make sure they weren't bruised. It was on sale and clearly it was already kind of going bad. The plastic container is clear but all I did was just opened it slightly to peek inside to make sure of the quality. Out of nowhere, all the way down the hallway far from near the entrance, the guard (I'm sure it was the same dude from years ago) shouts from across the way maybe 50ft away or so telling us we can't open them. He goes "DON'T OPEN THEM!" He kept saying it and we already got the point. And here he comes marching down the isle scolding us about the fruit trying to embarrass us in front of everyone. He goes "THE PEOPLE THEY DON'T LIKE THAT!" In my head I'm like "who? the customers?" dude we ARE the customers. I'm the buyer. Smh what people was he talking about?? It wasn't like I was switching up the fruits in different containers or touching them. That's what buyers do. They inspect produce in person. Customers do this all the time. Who doesn't check if their items are bad? This place is so uptight and strict about the littlest things. Ridiculous policy, telling their own shoppers they can't inspect produce as buyers is beyond me. The only thing I can say about this place is that it's organized. It's nice and neat but although it's organized, it doesn't really makeup for the bad service. Customer service is key and without it, the business is useless. Don't just depend on the products to make up for what is lacking. If they had friendlier employees, the place would have more customers. Upon leaving now realizing why this place is not that busy, with not a lot of shoppers. Its because their customer service is lacking. It's a quick go-to spot but for a weekend it's surprisingly quiet and not active. Maybe because this place is uptight and too strict with policies. This place has a lot of potential and could attract more buyers but this place is always empty because it needs better service. read more

Very disappointing experience. I came in to exchange meat that was already bad when it was sold to me. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff was unserious and disrespectful. They took pictures of the meat rather than actually working toward a solution. One of the managers, Victor, was especially unprofessional and had a clear attitude during the interaction. I wasn't rude or unreasonable--I simply wanted to exchange a product that should never have been sold in that condition. I have been shopping at El Fresco Farms for at least four years, and what brings me back are the super fresh produce, fresh meat, chicken and fish! I noticed today they have added a tamale and guacamole bar, I tried some cheese tamales and the guac, and gosh, it was all delicious! Most of all, I appreciate the kind security personnel and clerks and managers, who are always helpful! If I need assistance loading my groceries, they go out of their way to oblige, and I really appreciate that! I also notice how they make a great effort to keep their store clean and organized. I just love their fresh produce and their unbelievable low prices! Customer service? In my opinion no other market can beat their customer service. Some markets I've gone to there aren't any shopping carts bcuz customers have left them smack in the middle of the parking space and even if staff can see that the staff didn't roll it to the cart station or close to the store entrance. That doesn't ever happen at El Fresco Farms! All employees greet you and make you feel welcome, even the security guard! I love the Hispanic music they play while shopping too. My mother bought three jars of instant coffee and realized she bought the wrong ones and tried to exchange today. The manager was not helpful at all and would not let her do so. She had the receipt and the items had not been opened. Manager claimed their policy is seven days. No where on the receipt does it state this. Manager pointed to a small sign at the register. SMH!! Keep in mind my mother is 83 years old, disabled and does not drive. Today was the first day my sister could drive her. I feel like taking the coffee back myself and emptying it the aisles. I came back to get my money back for some moldy friend shrimp Spoke to the store manager and his attitude was terrible, said he was going to ask the owner about refunding me. Left came back and told me he went to ask the meat department if it was mold or not. I showed him that all of his dried shrimp was moldy, all he could say was he doesn't know about that stuff, he just works there. I don't recommend this store, clearly they don't check their product. After a year, still visiting this place for all the great prices and choices! The customer service is always on. Anytime I walk in, I'm always greeted and at times, someone will help load my groceries up. I don't even ask, and it may be that they want the cart back but it doesn't matter! The choices of produce here for the prices always amaze me. The quality is up there. I'm happy to always come by to pick up anything I need. The worst customer service manager ever. He was very rude and disrespectful. I bought a gallon of milk there it went bad so I took it back to see if they can exchange it. It didn't expire for another 5 days he wouldn't exchange nor listen to me instead accused me of leaving the milk out who would do that. I was there regular customer I went there every week spent good amount of money but I would never go there again. I think there coolers are bad that's why there things go bad. Went there for the first time for oxtail Tuesday's! The butcher shop is immaculate! The oxtails are cut right! Just enough fat on them! Not where you're paying for a lot of fat! The worker, named Sandy, Sandra , I believe.. forgive me if I'm wrong! She is a very helpful. She was in tuned to what I needed and the amount! Even though she was wearing a mask, you can tell from her eyes on how she is a kind hearted person! I used to live only 10 minutes away from El Fresco Farms, and after moving away further down the 405 freeway, my dad and I still brave the traffic to grocery shop here! It's usually not a pleasant experience shopping at similar grocery stores, but here just hits differently. Although the plaza is a little shabby, there is always either a security guard/employee at the front that genuinely greets you with a warm welcome and can hand you a copy of their latest salespaper if you haven't read it yet (protip: check out their Weekly Ad that comes out every Tuesday at https://www.elfrescofarmsmarkets.com/weekly-ad). The cashiers are super quick and efficient in bagging your items and taking your cart away after you've filled your trunk. Produce is my most frequent purchase here. The fruit and vegetables stocked are always fresh and ask a great price. You'll find even better deals on Wednesdays only, which are called "Wednesday Specials". I have been wanting to write a review commending the outstanding array of grocery items, produce and the friendliness of the employees including this gentleman who is by the entrance multitasking as security guard, greeter and hand outs store promotional materials. Checkout is fast and efficient. They are always in a lookout for long queues of customers wanting to checkout, a personnel would readily go and open a register and help. Outside the store by the entrance a young gentleman would assist customers with their carts or their grocery bags and promptly takes carts back to the store. Always with a sincere smile ready to assist. I have never been to any grocery market as friendly as this one. We just moved close to this area over a year ago and this place is truly a blessing! I don't know if the gentleman who puts on a white chef like attire is the owner but he at many times be standing beside the security guard helping and talking and welcoming customers. One of the best traditional grocery stores I've been to. They've got everything you need at great prices. On top of that, every staff member I encountered, from the security guard at front greeting you to the cashier at checkout, all of them had great customer service. The more traditional stores have forgot about the customer and have gone to technology to get it's customers in and out of the store. El Fresco does not have automated cashiers and you do not have to wait long in line. The parking lot is never littered with carts because someone is always getting them back into the customers hands. I have read some of the comments on management and this has not been my experience. In fact, I see attention to detail that keeps the store clean and workers responsive to its customers. This store is my new favorite now with fresh produce and good inventory of other things but that's the big thing for me: cool local soft drinks bottled with natural cane sugar (some have hfcs, which I'm not a big fan of). Oh my goodness. I had no idea what to expect when we randomly dropped in to explore this place, after eating at nearby Top Shelf Tacos. BUT THIS PLACE IS AMAZING. Seriously, the nicest grocery store staff in America -- by far. It starts with the burly security dude at the front who gives every customer a huge smile, offers a cart/basket, and has a sales flyer to give you. And it just doesn't stop. Everyone is SO NICE. That goes all the way to checkout, where *obviously* there won't be any lines -- since there are like 5 checkout cashiers all ready to go. I thought this place must be on grand opening or something, but they've been around a while. So... the general manager must be like the Santa Claus of grocery stores, or something. Amazing. Couple other highlights: PRICES ARE ROCK BOTTOM for fruits and veggies. You can get cherries, peaches, nectarines all for 99 cents/pound (when we went). It's like $1.99-2.99 for the same thing at most Asian grocery stores right now, $3.75 at the Torrance farmers market, and cherries in particular are $5.99/lb at Whole Foods. What the heck? The butcher shop counter is INSANE -- we didn't get anything but I was stunned at the enormous quantity of different marinated meats they have available, all at totally reasonable prices; my best guess is this place must be supplying area restaurants, because otherwise they must have an extraordinary amount of waste. Everything looked fresh and super happy. They have just one weakness (other than the somewhat up and coming part of town they're in) -- baked goods and dessert. They just don't seem to compete here. I mean, you literally cannot get freshly cooked flan here -- they only seemed to have the same old packaged stuff Whole Foods has (like Juan J's flan). And the few bakery items looked like they were dropped off as an afterthought by a nearby competitor or something. My guess is there must be something cultural here, like how in France fishmonger and cheesemonger are different stores? Am I supposed to go somewhere else for fresh baked items? *Confused*.
