Old inedible corn. We know its cheaper to buy from a grocery store but wanted to support this stand…read moreso we understood we'd be paying a lot more. However I then expect edible food. The corn purchased we cooked the day of. We had to throw half of it out because it was so old it couldn't be consumed; a-lot of the corn had come off the ear and it was dried out We trusted when they picked out the corn and bagged it; it was in the back, that it was good. You cant trust this place.

Prices are generally reasonable, but sometimes they can be the same as the store. However, the…read moreproduce here, IMO, is much better than the store. This place is in the parking lot at the intersection and you enter the lot before you get into the right turn lane for Kingsland from Ironbrige. Jerry usually opens around late May/early June. Expect to find white and yellow peaches, water melon, 3-5 varieties of squash, about 5 types of hot peppers, green and red bell peppers, hanover tomatoes, fresh green beans, okra, corn, pecans, boiled peanuts, apples, watermelon, canteloupe, honeydew, strawberries, blackberries, garlic, onions, local jams and honey, and more! Jerry is always pleasant and appreciative of his regulars. I always look forward to him opening up each year and now that I'm out-of-state, I really miss this place. My favorites are the candy-sweet-tasting white peaches and the Hanover tomatoes. I never realized how lucky I was to have access to the deliciousness of local tomatoes until I moved to a place that almost exclusively sold imported. That stuff takes so bland :(. Can't wait to get home and have Jerry's to get the good stuff from! P.S. Hmmm, maybe he should start selling natural fruit juices like they do here in Miami. Mmmm peach juice/cider, strawberry juice! NOTES: About Late April/Early May- late August. He typically has a white sign out facing Ironbridge to announce when he is about to open for the season and he puts a new sign with a list of some of his available produce and this sign stays out all season long. Open from 8 or 9a to 7 or 7:30 PM

The…read morefreezers are clean and organized, the service is always friendly and warm, and there is always yummy stuff at the front counter, like limoncillo (mamoncillo/gineps, chopped mango, coconut, and/or Salvadoran plain tamales (no meat). They have a small variety of Latin candies too, primarily Mexican and Salvadoran. The freezers all function well and you will find Peruvian peppers, tropical fruit pulps and yuca. What you will not find, however is things like frozen squash or coconut cream. I don't believe be they have other frozen soup vegetables like yautia either. They do have a recently-expanded variety of Colombian frozen fruit pulps, other frozen Colombian items, and refrigerated Colombian sausages. Also, they have Dominican salami. The butcher section even has marinated meats, Honduran style I believe. The produce section is always fresh and well-stocked for such a small market. I love that the ripeness of the plantains is always on point and the stock of them is plentiful. The fridges have some yummy juice variety too. They have both jugo de coco and coco asado which is not so common elsewhere. There is a surprisingly good West Indian spice section too-- cock soup base, powdered coconut milk, curries, jerk, browning, canned veggies pepper sauces, etc. As an another plus, they sell farofa (Brazilian)! In addition to food, they have a variety of Dominican and Central American hair products. I love CrecePelo conditioner and sapuyulo (mamey seed ash) shampoo. Cleaning products are also available, and a variety of cooking tools. The down side here is that I find a number of items to be a bit pricey here. However, nothing in the area offers comparable variety and freshness. I would go out of my way to drive here versus places closer to me for that alone. I have tried places closer by, but there is no comparison. Note: They offer shaved ice with flavor syrups (no fruit).

They have cheeses mostly from Central America, many regional drinks, and a small produce section with great sweet and green plantains and much more. Additionally, they have a small selection of latin pastries, including a few items from La Sabrosita, including their bread pudding, which I love. The clientele is largely hispanic, but they are pleasant to everyone, including a person who's Spanish requires more practice. It is reasonably close to where I live, so I go here rather often and fortunately it has largely negated my need to shop elsewhere for those special latin items. There are a growing number of latin markets in the Richmond area. Many reasonably stocked. As such, if you live in the area and want to capture the latin experience, this is a good place to go. If not, you can select from a number of other good markets, one of which may be in the area in which you live.

After we were done getting our cash tell me why they all huddled up in the security room to look at us where we would go next. My friend was driving the electric carts for seniors and they were all giving us the hardest ugliest stare ever When we're heading to the bathroom with our backpacks. Mind you we didnt stop in no isle whatsoever!! We needed to use the bathroom so afterwards we were done there was this man who was staring at us when getting out the bathroom And this man proceeded to say us " you can enter the store with a backpack" as we proceeded to walk back to one the isle he proceeded to follow us when walking back. I've never felt so uncomfortable in a store. when we decided to leave the store every worker that was there huddled up together and stared at us for a good ass minute. We've been in this store for 3 times and no other worker told us you couldn't go in with backpack. I feel like they was about to stop us and check our backpacks and acuse us for stealing! Will not be coming to this store because we both felt racially profiled!

We were hoping to find a vineyard and found Spring Run on one of our searches. We were unable to reach anyone by telephone at first but it was already kind of late in the day so we just drove over there and unfortunately for us, we happened to go when it was closed. We called while we were in the parking lot and the super friendly owner answered and apologized that she was closed that day but talked us into visiting them the next day. We almost didn't make it the next day but we managed it and I'm so happy that we did! The owners are super friendly and explained the history of the vineyard and it was so beautiful and peaceful to just sit there and enjoy some wine and cheese and talk to the owners. We did wine flights and my favorite was their blackberry wine which we both ended up taking bottles of home with us. I thought the blackberry wine would be too sweet as I'm not a fan of sweet wine but it was more fruity than sweet and had the perfect taste. We also tried the Goot Essa Cheese and Rip Rap crackers and I can honestly say that it was some of the best cheese I had ever tasted! It's a 3 year sharp cheddar and it went perfectly with our wine flights! We also ended up taking a couple souvenir shirts with us as a memory to our awesome experience. I have family in Virginia and will definitely be making time to visit this vineyard again when I make it back!
