During this pandemic, I normally visit the Aldi in Sterling which has a decent crowd. Today as I was in this outdoor Mall, it was raining and I wanted to check inside to see if this late of a day they might have Hydrogen Peroxide, wipes, gloves etc. Of course not but I found a neat well laid out store. It wasn't too crowded so staff outside did not hold me up entering. I found available chicken which I didn't find at Whole Foods in the morning and other meats. Lots of vegetables and toilet paper. Lots of it.

Dog friendly farm. Love that I got to bring my dog along for the fun! In addition to apples, they had dig your own potatoes and a variety of salad greens, pumpkins and gourds available to pick. Since we went toward the end of the season, we were able to cut sunflowers for free. Apple cider donuts, bakery, and lunch items available on weekends only. Jarred items available for purchase at the stand. I got some baby dill pickles, which are delicious! I recommend you check their website (https://hollinfarms.com/current-available/) here before you go. They update it weekly with their current crop availability, weather changes, etc.

There were variety of apples available the day we went. The options depend on timing and the growing season. We got to try Arkansas Black, which are delicious. In addition to apples, there were a variety of salad greens and pumpkins available to pick, you could even dig up potatoes. Because we went toward the end of the season, we were able to cut sunflowers for free with our apple purchase. Expect hills and uneven surfaces for walking, so wear appropriate footwear so you can enjoy the experience. Views are beautiful, the colors were popping across the horizon. After you fill up your picking bag, don't skip o out on the apple cider donuts. Made on site daily with cider from the orchard...while not warm, they were fresh and delicious. The food stand had a variety of other snacks and jarred foods available for purchase. * Our GPS got us close to the farm and handmade signs guide you the rest of the way. * Staff are nice and helpful, they provide you with everything you need (instructions, picking bags, shears). * There are porta potties available, they were as clean as you can expect porta potties to be. * No fee for admission or parking (yay!), just pay for what you pick and eat. *

When you arrive, it is off a main road, so you can drive by it rather quickly. I had to use my navigation system because that is exactly what I would have done HAHA! There is so much to look at ranging from the variety of seasonal plants, herbs, flowers, and etc.! They also have gardening equipment, soil, and produce in their buildings that they have. Personally, I was more surprised to see that they had duck eggs, yogurt, and different cheeses. I have not come across these items at a produce stand before, so do not judge me (I definitely plan to purchase the duck eggs at some point in time). In addition to all their fresh items and produce, they also had interesting items such as their syrups (i.e., peaches and cream, maple, cinnamon roll (I could be wrong about that one) that can be used for a variety of food items such as pancakes, in yogurt, and waffles. Other items such as bacon ketchup, applesauces, butters, jellies, salsas, and more lined the walls of the store. I took a particular interest in their wildflower honey which is produced locally. The sign says to use it daily to help build your immune system against seasonal allergies. Honey, I I have allergies all year round, so you know I bought that (pun intended ). I am already on day two and I recognize a decrease in my allergy symptoms already! I also bought a rosemary plant that I will be using for other creations. The total price for the honey and rosemary plan came to about $25 and some change. Considering what I am using these items for, it was worth it. With the service being great and the products being of great quality, I will be returning for sure! P.S. - There are also have some awesome animals that you might hear during your time there! Also, this place is kid friendly as well. They have so much to offer to their customers, so I would suggest checking out their website for more information!

When I arrived, the first two people I encountered provided positive customer service, including taking me to the location where the locally-sourced honey is situated in the store (not just pointing to the general area). I really appreciated that. The other thing I found helpful was that when a team member didn't have an answer to my question, they were willing to defer to a team member who had more knowledge about what I was looking for. This is where Veronica or Victoria (I'm not quite sure of her name, other than the fact that it begin with a V) comes into frame. She provided really good and useful information in addition to asking really good questions. She also seemed to be sympathetic to the fact that I was not feeling well and was looking for something to help in the healing process. We need more of this in the world. Care and concern for humankind seems to be lacking here lately. If you are looking for locally-sourced honey and you live or work in VA, don't hesitate to stop by Nalls Produce! Happy shopping! Oops! One more note ; I'm not too sure Nalls is located in Alexandria as it states when you visit the website. After completing a pretty long day at work in Arlington, I didn't think a drive out to Alexandria (after primary rush time), would be so bad. But, the drive was a little further than expected. Because I'm not a Virginia native, I could be incorrect in my thought process. But Nalls Produce is not located in Alexandria, it is located in Franconia. That's not even Alexandria County...it's actually Fairfax County. Either way, it was worth the drive because I was able to find what I was looking for. However, had I known the drive would take it as long as it did, I would've probably done it on an early Saturday morning and spent a little more time to explore all of the other interesting items I saw. By the way, it looks like they do a monthly newsletter that highlights some great information for the upcoming month.
