Growing up in Florida, Publix has always been a special place for me (if you know you know)…read more This location is pretty standard (it's not one of the recently renovated, fancy ones yet), feels safe, and is easy to get to, with parking in front (which I always find a spot at, even when busy) or below (which has had lots of attention drawn to it as of late with an overabundance of yellow signs advertising it!). The staff is always polite, and helpful when asked questions. Normally, I find everything I need here, save for some specialty items or more obscure international items I may be looking for. While I have had the occasional surprise of them not carrying an item I would have expected them to (hazelnuts, for example), as I said, most of the time, I find what I'm looking for.

This is definitely the best/nicest Publix nearby. Reminds me more of the Publixes in Florida. There's a salad bar which makes it feel more like Whole Foods. Every section is expansive. That said, I find that I have trouble finding basic items that you'd be able to easily spot in a location with a more limited selection. I'm sure I'd get more used to it if I came every week. I also don't love the parking situation. There's an underground deck and a street level lot but the area gets quite crowded especially on the weekends.

R and I came here last night right after leaving a neighboring restaurant. The panaderia (bakery)…read moresection is what caught my eye, and I hoped their baked goods were fresh. This store is in a small strip mall off of Buford Highway. Parking can be an issue, but you will most likely find empty parking spaces closer to Buford Highway. We walked into this small, but well stocked, store that had maybe 5 or 6 aisles. I focused mainly on the quality of the baked goods in the panaderia section, and the quality and prices of the items in the meat section. The panaderia section had really good quality baked goods. One of the items that caught my eye were the large conchas (Spanish for seashells), which looked like really big seashells, along with big raised sugar donuts. The panaderia section is self serve. Each type of panaderia baked good is placed into its separate big compartment that has a plexiglass door so that you can see what's in the compartment without opening it. Customers are expected to use supplied tongs to place in supplied clear plastic bags so that the cashier at the front can see what is in the bag and charge the customer accordingly. R got a big concha. We both ate them later, and my sugar donut was soft and had an ok flavor. The big surprise to me was the meat department. They have a very big selection of meats - beef, pork, chicken. Some of it was marinated and ready for the grill. Before you come here to buy any meat, I suggest you know the current prices of meats. I saw some really good prices for some items (chicken legs and chicken quarters), while I saw some really high prices (chicken wings, some cuts of beef) on others. When I think of what I saw stocked in this store, most of the items are geared towards people who cook Mexican food. Lots of canned or packaged items (beans, rice, tortillas, sauces and spices) that you can't always readily find in regular grocery stores can be found here, along with many types of fresh vegetables used in Mexican cuisine. The employee at the cash register was very quick and efficient.

In my opinion, they have the best watermelons and pineapples. It was clean and did not smell like a Farmer's Market. The prices are amazing. They sell pickled vegetables in open buckets with no lid, in a refrigerated section that has black gunk stuck to its walls. It's just..... no. I hate that I don't have pictures to back up this review but the health safety practices in here are definitely questionable. Call me whatever you like, but it really irks me going somewhere and no one even bothers to try and speak English with you, nor refer you to someone who does if they can't. The service is generally poor, and the employees will act like you don't exist if you don't look like you speak Spanish (I'm sorry to say it but it's true). My [Black] husband does, and their attitude changed immediately as soon as they realize he's hispanic which is CRAZY to see in real time. They have 1000 security guards standing around that are constantly watching over every move... it's simply unfriendly and quite frankly, hostile. I just never like my experience here and it doesn't change each time I try to go back. I love a good international market. But my experience here was lowkey (and unexpectedly) dark and moody. I was ready to go not long after I walked in. I'd recommend City Farmers for produce and produce only. They truly have the best avocado prices in the area. I'll give them that.

You have to get one of the big shopping carts out the parking lot yourself. The produce section is huge and loaded with the freshest produce. The prices look bigger than Kroger put on the same level as Publix. This place is essentially an international market mixed with a farmer's market .The seafood section is humongous. I got some sushi, grilled Markel, and chicken fried rice from the korean section. In the butcher section, I got pork belly, goat, lamb, chicken wings, and pork shoulder. All the food was amazing.

I purchased a pack of tofu along with some other items on March 11. I open the fridge a few days later on March 15, finally ready to prepare the tofu, just to see that the exp date on the pack was March 10. This picture was taken March 15 upon this discovery. I meant to update this review a while ago. I just can't spend money here anymore knowing that I'm liable to accidentally purchase old products. As customers, we should not have to be this vigilant at a grocery store... it's ridiculous.
