Came here for a hot beverage and a pastry. It was mid-morning on a Monday. Food: I ordered a London Fog tea latte. They don't have mugs, so it was served in a cup. The London Fog was decent, hot and flavorful. I also got a pistachio scone. They don't have the ability to heat pastries, so it was served cold. On a chilly morning, that made it feel especially cold. Service: The person taking orders and making drinks was super nice, personable, and willing to have a casual chat. Atmosphere: There's not much to look at inside. It has a somewhat industrial feel, with tables and high-tops but not much in the way of comfortable seating. It seems set up more for people looking to do some work. A decent place if you're looking for a beverage to go, but not one I'm likely to return to. read more

I found this place later in life (4 years after moving to MKE ) but it's starting to be a place I frequent when I need a coffee that's not made by my crappy espresso machine. My go-to is usually the half rocket fuel which I believe is their concoction of cold brew and their homemade milk/creamer mix. The original is very sweet so if you're like me and don't like it overly sweet, i recommend their half. I also really enjoy their homemade vanilla syrup that they use in lattes. I stick to basics or their signature drinks and I've never had something I didn't like. For price and a decent-sized working space (cant confirm how good their wifi is), I love this place. read more

I don't know if it's a family that runs it but the lady was super sweet and offered to remake it if I didn't like it (which was not remotely necessary). Also a great place for people watching as it's right on Water Street and located on an incline. It's a bit farther to walk to than my usual neighborhood coffee shops but worth it for a treat. There are so many cool coffee shops in MKE, I'll admit I skipped over Alderaan in the past to go to one of the more well-known coffee shops with multiple locations throughout the city. Big mistake. I've had numerous lattes, their signature Rocket Fuel (a delicious high caffeine sweet treat), their yummy vegan pastries, and their homemade yogurt with homemade granola. Their yogurt is creamy and one of my favorite things to eat in MKE. I love MKE's coffee scene, and Alderaan has become my favorite coffee shop. On top of that, Alderaan's owner (and mom) are super friendly which makes me feel better about supporting their business. Pro tip: Don't skip out on buying beans to take home-- they are great quality and affordable. read more

I was taking my dog on a walk through Milwaukee and was in desperate need of a coffee. That's when I stumbled upon Alderaan, and I'm so glad I did! A friend ran in first to see if it was okay for me to bring my pup in to order and they said yes, woo! I love the design of the shop. Very minimalistic, bright and cozy. There is plenty of places to work (and outlets!) if you're looking for a place to camp out and get some work done. The staff member working was super sweet and knowledgeable on the coffee and offerings at Alderaan. I told her I was in the mood for something iced, creamy, and on the sweeter side. She suggested the Rocket Fuel and hit the nail on the freaking head! Espresso, cream, brown sugar and cinnamon was combined to make the perfect iced latte. If you're into this kind of sweeter drink, you will LOVE it. I also got a side of yogurt and granola which was tasty too! Alderaan is one of my MKE staples. I love their almond milk and their take home beans. The beans are super affordable ($12 iirc). All of the workers are super friendly. The shop itself doesn't have a ton of room but i'm usually able to find a table if i want and i love their little outside space. read more

On a cold January morning even with the roads cover in ice and snow, with drivers who cannot drive for crap... yes I still needed my coffee. I stopped in at Alderaan's for the first time and I was delighted to see I was not the only coffee addict to bear the cold and ice that morning. It was even more lovely to see out of towners in the shop as well. I took home a bag of freshly grounded coffee beans to enjoy at home and I am very delighted to say I love the Imperial Bend they suggested to me! In college I came here all the time to do my homework. They have limited seating but what they do have is a few large tables that I could spread my books out on and get to work. They have a nice chai that I order every time and they make a delicious yogurt and granola. Their homemade granola is also available to purchase in to-go bags. Rocket Fuel is the greatest coffee drink I have ever had. I am so in love with this shop. Everything about it, from the aesthetics to the current scones are fabulous. I'm a huge supporter of local businesses, and this is really a shining example of one. I've had a lot of coffee from a lot of different shops in Milwaukee, but this one is by far the greatest! Mind you, the store has a lot of room inside for people to socially distance themselves, and most people are already vaccinated anyway, but instead the management here has decided to block off half of the space and only allow 1 guest inside at a time. No, sir, I won't wait outside in the pouring rain just for the privilege of drinking your coffee. You can open up the space to allow more people to safely enter. Thinking about a toasty coffee drink-y drink on my (frigid) Friday morning commute while amusing myself (entirely too much, in a nerdy sort of way) by googling Star Wars quotes was just the sort of start to the day I needed. Let's talk about location, location, location first. --I regularly drive down Lisbon on my commute and am perpetually annoyed with the lack of coffee shops and business in general. Once upon a time Lisbon and Walnut were centers of commerce but the freeway and various public works projects sort of left a wasteland here. I'm pleased to see signs of life like the new apartments and new businesses like this place. I was able to find parking right outside the door on the street. Beverage: -The lavender latte seems to be where its at here and it was really good--not something you can find too many other places. The flavor was subtle, with a hint on the backend of the drink. The consistency was slightly airy but still substantial enough that it stood in as breakfast for me. They also had a buy 10 get one free punch card here. They also offered some interesting coffee for bulk purchase (ie Brooklyn Roasting co.--I still have vacation on the brain.) interior: -modern, open, clean. Much the way it looks in the photos. I didn't see the cold brew vending machine but wasn't looking too hard either so its probably in one of the corners. Staff -very friendly and efficient. Sometimes I'm leery to stop at unknown coffee shops when I'm on a schedule for fear it might be a long wait. But they had me back on the road in lightspeed. Post Covid- they allow only one customer in at a time, even if you're there with a small party or one other person. I'm all about precautions but personally think this is a little overkill. They're drink menu is short and sweet, which they leave on the outside near the door if you're unfamiliar with what they offer. Once inside, they have a small walkway to the register where everything is a no touch, 6 feet transaction. Unfortunately the other half of Alderaan's charm was being able to sit in the coffee shop which is no longer allowed for obvious reasons. To the jackass working Sunday morning. You do not earn business during theses challenging times by telling customers to get out "like now" was the actual quote. My wife and i walked into the store Sunday morning and the waiter said only one person could be in the store. As my wife and I briefly chatted (10 seconds tops) about who should go in to order, the waiter said we needed to leave "like now". First of all, learn some manners. Cold Brew: 10/10 Cold Brew/Rocket Fuel combo: 12/10 I don't like overly sweet drinks so the Cold Brew + Rocket Fuel (espresso, cream, brown sugar, cinnamon) struck the perfect balance for me. I appreciated how seriously they were taking COVID, mandating masks, limiting capacity, etc. They also have a little "hitch" outside the door to tie up your dog while you pop in. read more

1 Star for the terrible customer service. We just moved to Milwaukee from Chicago and after moving in came to Alderaan for a cup of coffee. It was pouring rain, cold, and very windy so we both stepped inside cause we were so cold. The lady at the desk told us only 1 person was allowed at a time. I asked if I can please stand by the door since it was way more than 10 feet away from anything but she just repeated herself saying only 1 person allowed. I understand the whole Corona issue but for an employee who has no mask, no gloves, or any protective equipment on to enforce such a rule is ridiculous. Not allowing the curtesy to wait by the door when it's raining hard and cold shows the type of place this is. Won't be going here again. read more

Coffee is fine. Bald guy working just has an attitude that you're disturbing him and everything is an inconvenience. Sitting there just gives you the vibe of I don't want you here. As I was working here, I feel like he turned up the music so I couldn't hear or talk on a work call. Just overall atmosphere here is "get out". COVID-19 service -- The location: On a corner near Fresh Thyme. There's 3 hour free parking on the street behind the shop. The drinks: I got a mocha with oat milk. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best mochas of my life. Dark, rich, just a little sweetness, and perfect drinking temperature. The service: Easy online ordering via a link I got from their google maps listing. There are options to customize your drink as needed. You can order curbside delivery or pick-up. I ran in to pick-up and true to their word, my drink was ready in the five minutes predicted. Only 1 human at a time is permitted in the shop and pick-up location inside is easily labeled. On nicer days, they'll leave drinks on an outside table. The barista was cheerful and happy to help. I was in and out in under two minutes. Next time: I might need a shot of caramel in my mocha for an extra treat. read more

I've been coming here out of convenience for a few years now and my main complaint is that the owner is anything but friendly. Last year he had employees that were great. I basically stopped coming here b/c the owner was working more and his employees were working less. Have been here twice during lockdown now, finding it to be the only coffee shop open for a while there (take out only). I had never been here before this all came up, and I'm sure I will be back now that I've experienced this place. Good coffee; I got the vanilla latte both times. They're taking their distancing measures EXTREMELY seriously, even while being open for take out. Which I understand and appreciate. However, make sure you carefully read the signs they have up (I think it would be helpful if they were a bit bigger and more obvious), or you risk being treated like a giant germ. read more

Alderaan is the closest coffee shop to my work -- and I'm so glad I have it nearby. It is perfect for a mid-day coffee break. If you check in before you pay, they always offer an upgrade of any drink! Their teas are somewhat expensive, but their coffee is very affordable, especially with the free upgrade. The space is nice to work in and the volume is typically pretty quite. I've had a few meetings here and there and the space works well for it. They have outdoor seating for the beautiful days and wifi for your work purposes. My go-to is a cafe au lait! read more
