Ceremony Area

I visited Phoenix for the first time this past Halloween to attend a friend's weeding at Aldea and now I'm wishing I could get married there! Granted the bride's vision probably added to the experience as well as the perfect weather, but even so, I thought this place was lovely. Aldea reminded me of a Mexican hacienda. The ceremony was held in the courtyard, where the bride and bridesmaids were able to enter via a balcony walkway and down a staircase for a grand entrance. Hors d'oeuvres were served in another courtyard while a mariachi band played. The reception was held inside, in a smallish banquet room with a dance floor and lovely arches. The wedding was an old-style Spanish/Mexican theme and Aldea was the perfect setting. The walkways lined with lanterns and the courtyard decked out in white christmas tree lights were perfect. I loved how it accommodated both inside and outside events.

What a most beautiful venue. It was a subtly lit, well stocked open bar, patio, catered wedding and from what I hear all inclusive. That's nice way to keep track of all those bucks your spending on your big day. There was a great patio out back and a spacious dance floor inside. The enire guest list was doing the wobble. Good times, good times. I did hear it costs 15K though.

Came here for a friends wedding. It's like old world Mexico. Very quaint and nice. It is a bit dated. Some floors are caving a bit. But... If you are hosting an event they have lots of outdoor space. It is not expensive, service is ok. Personally... There are much better venues. But for those with a tight budget but want something clean and nice. Go for it.

Beautiful cake at the venue.

Starting a few weeks before the wedding, we handed over our plans to her and she reviewed everything and asked questions to make sure she know what we wanted. Her years of experience made her an excellent advisor on the last minute details, and there were at least two or three things we wouldn't have thought to plan for, but she knew. Here's an example of why she is great: what if your bartender thought the end time was 10pm, but we thought it was 11pm? And, by the way, it's 9:45 and they want to do last call. Tara is right there - she knew this was about to happen because the bartender had been coordinating with her all night, she knew our plan was 11pm, and so she approached us very calmly and quietly and asked if we meant to close it at 10pm. We said no, we thought it was 11pm and people were still having fun, so could we keep it open until 10:30 or 11 as planned? Off she went off and took care of it without another word or input from us. It took us seconds, not minutes of negotiating with the bartender, so we could get back to partying. All night, she kept track of time, kept track of vendors, set up those final details we didn't have time to setup, and many, many other unseen things we may never know about. At the end of the night, she had everything we were taking with us packed up, including leftover food and cake, so when the driver called her to say he was ready for us, she could let us know. When we were ready, she made sure we got the things we wanted to take and off we went. Throughout the whole day, we had nothing to worry about except enjoying the wedding. It was one of the best decisions we made, and I would do it again no matter our budget!

She handled a last minute change in DJ beautifully. The rehearsal went smoothly and she was able to take the decorations the night before in her truck. She understood where the decorations went and made the event beautiful with the flowers, and lit the candles. We had trouble with too much moisture on the bottom deck of our wedding cake and it collapsed! Tara rearranged the cake and basically redecorated it with my toppers along with my sister to still make it look beautiful last minute! And there was still cake left over. She helped with clean-up and last minute arrangements with the vendors. She had recommendations for saving money. Thanks Tara for making it special!

We live in Modesto, CA and Michelle helped us plan our wedding from 700 miles away. Our first meeting was professional as well as comfortable. My self, fiancé, dad and step-mom met with Michelle at Starbucks and she had a folder of information ready for us, we worked through a preliminary budget, helping all parties to understand exactly what the wedding we wanted will cost. I was very upfront about my budget, $10k, and was given the same courtesy from Michelle about their rates. Her rate quoted to us for day of planning was $2k in 2010, but she gave us a discount because the full $2k was not in our budget. Michelle gave us unlimited email contact from the day we met and was available for deliveries the day before and the day of the event. The email contact was very helpful. Each time I got a finalized contract from a caterer, photographer, party rental facility, etc. I would email it to Michelle for review. She helped me to negotiate services into my contract and reminded me of anything I had forgotten to ask. The service provided the day before and the day of the wedding was fantastic. Michelle came to the venue the day before to meet rental deliveries and set up all tables and chairs. She also ran the rehearsal even though we started about 45 minutes late. The day of Michelle was at the venue about 6 hours before start time, meeting all vendors, making all payments for us, making sure everyone in the wedding party was on time and knew where they were supposed to be. She offered moral support to me was available for anything I needed. My goal for a wedding planner was to have someone help my day be stress free. Michelle of YHD made this possible. I had a hard time with my dad accepting that we wanted/needed a wedding planner, he thought most of the wedding "wasn't necessary". He said we could have done everything without her, I don't think that's true for a second. I was sitting in my bridal suite, sipping on wine and water, waiting for someone to tell me it was time to start. Without Michelle, I probably would have been setting up candles, flowers, checking on the food, is there enough ice at the bar, in a robe, with my hair half done, while my guests were arriving. I would highly recommend Your Heart's Desire for your full wedding planning, or day of services. No matter how much you think you have your wedding under control, you will want to have someone else running the show behind the scenes. With this service, you are able to be a guest at your own wedding.
