When we first decided to have our wedding in Phoenix though we lived in San Francisco, we thought…read morebecause we knew the location of the wedding (in deciding on the city, we decided on the venue) it would be easy to just find some vendors ourselves and put on a show. How wrong we were. What Sandy and Kelsey do as a mother/daughter team at In Awe Weddings, for us at least, was more than just the planning of the day and the scheduling of who walks where and when (though they were great at that). Working with Sandy gave us access to her trusted list of vendors and contacts, of whom we pretty much ended up using all of them. People have asked me a lot in the last few days since I've been back from the honeymoon how the wedding went and I can honestly say that everything went really well, all the guests had a ton of fun and that I wouldn't change anything. A lot of that is due to Sandy holding our hand the entire way through the (incredibly stressful) process of planning a wedding. She made sure we stayed on schedule, built out timelines for decisions and put us in touch with vendors who ended up being top notch. I can't recommend Sandy heartily enough and not just because it was my wedding and everyone always thinks that their wedding was perfect. Both sets of parents loved Sandy, her ability to handle both moms' sometimes, uh, unique requests (including shipping dresses and other randomness). But what I loved most about working with her, aside from her being available via email all the time, was that she always made us feel as though our wedding was the only one she was working on. Even though she might have up to three weddings over a weekend, she always focused on us when we talked and never made excuses related to all the other work she had going on. Sandy's a fantastic choice if you're going to get a wedding planner.

We are, to put it mildly, on the picky side and we could not have been more thrilled with Sandy. She was kind, hardworking, responsive and organized and the wedding turned out perfectly. We are still getting compliments on what a wonderful evening it was. Throughout the entire process we felt Sandy's priority was making sure the wedding was what our daughter wanted which was an amazing party for our guests. Every vendor Sandy suggested was kind, reasonably priced and delivered a fantastic product. There was no pressure to focus on design and images for social media, which we sensed from several of the other planners we interviewed before selecting Sandy. As for Sandy's political views referenced in the review below, although I am politically liberal and we obviously have different perspectives I did not find her racist or unhinged.

I knew when I received the detailed potential customer questionnaire she was my planning soulmate. We were completely won over when she noticed a picture I had planted on my pinterest of a wedding cake from one of her prior weddings. So many vendors ask for the information but never check it; when she brought it up in our first meeting I knew she actually LOOKED at the information I sent her. Celebrations by Amy Bacon was with us for a year leading up to our wedding, and even though we are detailed and active in our planning, having someone to keep us on the right track, who could help us ask the right questions was invaluable. Without them, our wedding never would have been what it turned out to be. She helped us find the most amazing venue that was perfect for our personalities, needs and budget, something that seemed impossible at the time we signed our contract with all of the valley's options. All of the vendors suggested were incredible and completely delivered the best on the wedding day. We cannot even begin to describe her work on our wedding day. She was able to handle all questions and we were not pestered by vendors or guests about anything on our wedding day. Our guests were amazed by everything, how every little detail was covered and how smooth everything went. Any issues, such as additional guests arriving, was taken care of quickly and unnoticeably. There was even a chance of rain and her team had everything covered. The lady in waiting services were incredible, having someone with us before the ceremony to have water, run errands and keep us on track while letting Amy create her magic at the venue was the perfect addition. We each gave the other a surprise during the reception, and she organized them both without the other knowing and presented them in the best way so we were both pleasantly surprised! We are so independent that at first we didn't think we needed a wedding planner, but we are so glad after looking at 30 venues we joined the Celebrations by Amy Bacon family. Our wedding day was more than we could have ever dreamed possible and a day that was probably the most relaxing day of the year so far. Our guests will be talking about it for years to come and we will remember it forever.

We canceled her and she would not consider any type of refund or compensation back to us given venues were selling out for our wedding date. Our recommendation is pay by a credit card that you know will get you your refund when she lets you down.

I gave 3 stars as an average between our two experiences. This last time, our DJ was an older guy (I don't want to mention names). He really had a hard time connecting with our group. He didn't have the music that many were requesting. It seems to me that every DJ should have access to a Spotify account to pull up every song when requested. Another thing that baffled me was that he was using CD's. Who uses CD's in this electronic age? Not to mention that several times the CD's WERE SKIPPING! (very unprofessional) The sound wasn't very loud and didn't sound very good. Maybe this is because the system only had one speaker. I would assume that every DJ would have two speakers. I really hate to give a so-so review but a DJ can make or break a special occasion. Be sure to ask about these issues and interview your DJ.

It was the biggest mistake I've ever make, no exaggeration. They were over priced , asking for $1500 to begin and eventually we settled on $900, which I've heard is still more then typical. We met at a local bakery to confirm all of the details, what music to play when etc. They no showed to our rehearsal dinner, and ruined our ceremony. The music I walked in to was not what I chose, and skipped and cut out as I awkwardly tried to walk down the aisle. Then, to top it all off, the music I selected for us to leave the ceremony to was the one song I asked not to be played at all. The rehearsal music dragged on and he did everything out of the order he said he was going to do it. I am not some crazy bride bummed that things didn't go as planned, I expected glitches on our big day.. But the things that went wrong were all his fault, and he made no apologies. As this was my first time hiring a caterer, Lori was incredibly kind, patient, and helpful throughout the entire process. She made everything so much easier and was wonderful about accommodating the many changes along the way. We ultimately ordered food for 150 people, and the amount was absolutely perfect. There was plenty for everyone without having an excessive amount left over. The food was delicious! The Italian meatballs were a hit, the stuffed mushrooms were fantastic, and the shrimp cocktail was amazing. Everything was fresh and enjoyed by our guests. While the food was wonderful, the service was truly exceptional. The staff circulated with appetizers, graciously offering them to guests without ever being intrusive or pushy. They were kind, considerate, attentive, and professional throughout the event. During an emotional and difficult time, having a caterer we could count on made such a difference. From the planning process to the food and service on the day of the event, everything exceeded our expectations. LisaBeth was our main server and she made sure those with allergies were given TLC and she managed our water, ice, and wine table with precision.
