Came here with my husband, his tummy hurt after eating. The BLT bacon was supposed to be crispy according to another review but it was more like leather. The calamari was supposed to come with little spicy peppers says the menu, but we found only 2 small pieces of pepper, calamari tastes like nothing. The fried pickles were ok, too salty. Service was great. Price was about 100 for two people, I think we should of gone to a diner someplace and saved the 100. read more

husband and i decided to try here last night because we both didn't feel like cooking at home. we ordered an appetizer and a burger each and i ordered a $1 oyster. but we had to ask for our appetizers and oyster to be brought out because we had our burgers first for whatever reason. and not sure if the aioli has any celery products in it with husband being allergic he didn't feel too great after his burger unfortunately. otherwise seems a cozy enough place to get food. read more

Drinks and food are always delicious! I have a gluten allergy and the wings were safe, and there are sushi options (delicious) with gluten free soy sauce. Our server was so sweet and I love the vibe of the inside and the patio. read more

Really impressed with Alchemy! I was kind of disappointed when Gaslight left but Alchemy is a great addition to the restaurants in the area. The ambiance is nice, lively, cute. Menu to me, has an interesting mix of cuisine styles, but the food is excellent. No complaints with the service. You can easily park on the backside and walk over compared to trying to park by the shops out front. If you're near Marketsteet and looking for something different, I'd go here! read more

I went to Alchemy for lunch today and was surprised to find relatively high prices, poor quality food, and below average service. First, I asked the waitress what she recommended for food and she said "I don't know." As a longtime waiter myself, if she's so incapable to perform even the minimum expectations of the job, she should be terminated. When the steak tips came, the portion was tiny, they were cooked poorly, and the au jus was a sweet floured water, precisely not what au jus is supposed to be. For dessert, I ordered the brownie sundae but, when it arrived, the brownie was wildly undercooked and they gave me virtually no vanilla ice cream, so I told the waitress and showed her the plate and I asked for a little more ice cream. As the final insult and exceptionally poor service, when we got the bill, she charged us $5 extra for the ice cream that should have been served with the dessert... so it was very poor quality food, relatively high prices and an oblivious waitress. I don't think I'll go again ! read more

This is our favorite restaurant of the Serenitee group. Located in the lovely Market Street outdoor mall, the ambience is casual but elegant and homey. I love the music which is usually a mix of classic and alt rock. The menu is varied enough for any taste and includes GF and vegan options. Sushi lovers will be happy with the poke bowl or many roll options. My favorite meal is the half chicken and my husband's is the halibut. The bartenders really know their stuff; Chef Steve delivers consistent favorites and unique specials. The servers are all fantastic--tonight we had Alyssa who gave excellent advice on menu choices. Tip to newcomers: Serenitee has an amazing free loyalty program that includes a free entree and dessert during your birth month. Make sure to sign up for it. See you soon and often, Alchemy! read more

Awesome spot. Great sushi oysters and bourbon selection. Chef and our server Matt came up with a variation for my dish due to dietary restrictions and it was perfect. Thank you guys! Will definitely be back when we're in town!! read more

My grade had our high school reunion here. The appetizers, seafood, sushi, and buffet was amazing. The foot was fresh. The staff and bartenders couldn't have been better. I myself will be back. I'm got food drunk here lol read more

Our waiter Andrew was very nice. He checked on us occasionally but not too much where he was annoying. My husband got the steak tip with mash and beans. The steak tips were full with flavor and cooked well done like he likes it, though he did ask for medium well, it was fine he likes it well done anyhow. However, I do like my steak a lil pink. My dish was the Baja tacos and it was great. We shared both plates and we were still hungry after devouring both plates so we ordered another baja tacos. That plate did it for us. Time for bed! We couldn't finish it and have lunch for tomorrow. Win/win. I recommend the Gallagher smash for drinks. It was delicious. So good after tasting my drink my husband got one too. Overall, the service was great, food bomb. No complaints here besides we shouldn't have ordered the second Baja tacos because I'm super full! read more

We met our friends here for an early lunch! I love the style of the restaurant and Alysa our server was very good. It is part of the Serenitee restaurant group so there are many other restaurants that are part of it. If you sign up for their emails and app, you get the first appetizer for free (it says it in the ladies room as well). You also get a free entree and dessert during your birthday month! So I think that's a no brainer to sign up for! They also have gluten free and vegan options which is wonderful. I was surprised however that when I went to look at the menu online, it differed from the actual menu that I was given (I like the actual menu better btw!). So my husband ordered oysters as an app and he was happy with them. A hodgepodge of items were ordered at the table- crispy lemongrass chicken dumplings-14 honey citron, soy sauce, fried thai basil (very good), fish and chips with fries, tartar sauce, cole slaw, lemon (very good), poke bowl with salmon, scallions, cucumbers spicy korean chili paste, instead of rice I got more seaweed salad and avocados. I had to send this dish back the first time. I could not stomach the chili paste! I love spicy but this was crazy hot! Like sriracha! So I had them make it without the chili paste and it was so much better. However, by the time it did come out again, I wasn't that hungry so I took a lot of it home. I also had the avocados on the side! I really would have loved to have sat outisde but it was a rainy on and off day! The atmosphere was casual which was wonderful. They have very cool maps in the corridor on the way to the restrooms. You should check them out. It is also good for kids - plenty of high chairs! And they seem to have a nice bar! I'll have to come back and check it out for a drink at another time! read more

Food is sub par. Service can be great or lousy depending on when you go. First 2 times I went with a group of people, it was good. Third time was so bad that we won't be going to this restaurant again. Worst sushi we have ever had and I ordered grilled chicken on the baby beets salad and the chicken tasted rubbery. Even after telling our server, the extra chicken provided was not very good and, after the manager came over, there was no offer to adjust the bill except a half hearted offer from the server after to bring us a dessert. Honestly , we did not want to eat anything else coming out of the kitchen. If you are at Market Street, go to C Bar or Yard House. Never disappointing. read more

Food - 3.5/5 Appetizers: Surf & Turf Sushi Roll (recommend)- Sensational it came with a sweet chili drizzle that boosted the flavors of the roll. Ramen Fries- Regular fries dusted with ramen seasoning sadly the seasoning was at the bottom of the bowl that the fries came in and could've been tossed more. The dip that came with it was amazing. Entrees: Chicken Parm- Lacked flavor. Steak Tips, Mashed potatoes & Green Beans- Average. Drink: Lychee Mai Tai (recommend)- Good, sweet and strong. Service - 4/5 Staff was attentive and not overbearing. Ambiance - 4/5 Dim setting, perfect for date nights. read more

Me personally I ain't too fond of suchi..ever since i got food poisoned by "real sushi"... However when the food chain called The Infinity Group promoted their restaurant referred to as "Alchemy" witch in approximately 2014 used to be located in downtown Gloucester, Massachusetts was up and running... The food portions were in high standings , the customer service was scarce along with unprofessional and un-educated in the food they were serving... However the medival themed dishes and utensils along with the strategically placed candles and general indoor environment was like right out of a historical theatre setting which plays very well in attracting customers to return as such also stands nicely in with its name of "Alchemy".. The food was mediocre at best as their sister restaurant called Maggie's Farm had higher food qualities with a larger show for visitors ... that just goes to show as Maggie's Farm restaurant before they sold out was located in Middleton right on Route 114 angled a few thousand yards from Richardson's Ice cream that of witch has their own milk producing cows. Overall I do suggest "you" (the nom nom loving reader) to visit that restaurant at least once to review for yourself as everyone has different tastes in food. read more

Met a friend here for lunch Sunday, as it's midway for Billerica and She lives in Ipswich. We had reservations at 2, and arrived 15 minutes before, but was seated quickly. Our server was Heather who was really sweet and pleasant. The restaurant is big, and has a huge open concept where you can see them cook with a large wrap around bar in the middle of the restaurant. For drinks I got a dirty martini and my friend got the Sauvignon blanc, both were really pleasant as we ordered two rounds. For appetizers we got the fried calamari, it was delicious, the fried peppers with the dish was really good! The curry in the calamari was the zing that gave it a colorful flavor! For our entrees my friend got the mahi mahi taco, which is not a dish she normally eats, and with the spices in it, we asked the server about how spicy the sauce was and she wasn't so sure and got the GM Gil for us. He told us it was not for flavor. She loved it! I had a bite and loves the taco as well. She liked that it wasn't fishy smelling, lol! I got the seared tuna salad. This is a must if you like seared tuna and prefer tart vinaigrette. It had olives, fingerling potatoes, and pickled beans, which really added flavor to the salad. My friend never had seared tuna as she thought it would be 'fishy' tasting had some and was amazed at how tender the tuna was and yummy as well! We will definitely be back ans would highly recommend Alchemy to friends and family. read more

Went a few months ago and had a good experience. Then my wife and I went back last night and were blown away. Got a great fall sangria and a "Not a Bourbon Smash". Both were fantastic. The sangria was fresh but very filling. You're going to want to keep that in mind because we went nuts ordering from the absurd number of amazing sounding small plates. After a painful draft, we wound up getting the chicken and waffles (the highlight) chips and French dip, spicy tuna, fried pickles. Don't judge me, we wanted a smorgasbord. And we were thoroughly impressed with everything we got. Honestly considered ordering more but portions were enough to crush us both. We sat at the bar and loved it. One tiny gripe was that service was slightly slow considering that it wasn't that busy and our server was very diligent at keeping everything immaculate. That's a nightly piece of feedback on an otherwise outstanding experience. read more

Came here about a week ago. Our waitress was fantastic. Super friendly and very attentive. I only wish I recalled her name to give her credit. We tried 3 of the tapas and 2 Sushi. Everything was super flavorful. My only nitpick is the sushi could have been rolled tighter and the the ends a little cleaner(shorter) so it was easier to eat. Ramen fries- ahhh so simple and yet sooo yummy! read more

Stopped in to Alchemy in the Lynnfield Marketplace on a gray rainy Saturday with the lovely ELS in tow. Great choice. We were early in the afternoon and were seated at a very nice table facing the marketplaces' vast shopping arena. Great people watching. The menu has MANY interesting choices including a wide array of sushi and sashimi. Our waitress Kim was friendly and engaging and made some excellent suggestions. Started off with a bowl of tomato bisque and half a grilled cheese and the lamb lollipops. Wow. Excellent. Lamb was perfect tender and juicy. For the main event Kim suggested the meatloaf dinner which was tremendous (no ketchup needed) with an A-! glaze garlic mashed and broccolini. ELS had a huge Caesar salad with large grilled shrimp. Shamefully we were not done. The banana split for two was the capper. Amazing and im not much of an ice cream person. Whole shebang ran us $125 with a couple drinks. not cheap but not crazy. We could have spent a lot less but we only do this a handful of times a year so its man in the boat overboard. read more

Loved it here! There was only a 15 minute wait on a Saturday night, and they text you so that you can walk around the shops while you wait! The food was amazing..we got the Phoenix sushi roll and it was the best sushi I've ever had. Also, the ramen fries are a MUST! They even have fun mocktails.. I got the apple of my eye, which was apple cider and sparkling water. I always have so much respect for a restaurant that takes the time to make a mocktail menu since not everyone drinks! Service was great as well..definitely try it out! read more

I was so excited to try Alchemy. Their social media posts and vibe were what caught my attention. That is until we walked in and I was disappointed almost immediately. My menu was stained and our waitress was wearing the strongest perfume we gagged every time she came to the table. The food- warm sushi roll, a poke bowl that was sooo over spiced it was inedible, and a blta that tasted like a dirty griddle. Not to mention that when I got home I became sick to my stomach. It was outrageously overpriced for the quality and experience. Obviously, We will not be returning... and I frankly am doubtful it will be in business much longer. (Looks pretty but that's about it). read more

I have tried to eat at this restaurant on three separate occasions. The first time was told that they had had an hour wait. We put in our names.... Never got a call back or anything. Second time we were sat after a 45min wait. We waited 30 mins at our table no one came by to take our drink order so we left. The third time we went in was today. Bar was busy, restaurant was empty plenty of open tables, when we asked if there was a wait we were told we wouldn't be sad until 7:30 (an hour and 45 minutes later). I understand being short staffed in this economy, but somethings gotta give. read more

Bland, unappetizing food. The chicken wings looked (and tasted) like the sauce was poorly smeared at the last minute before they came to our table. Bland burger and fries. Fried chicken sandwich - not even sure what that was and it only took up half the bun. Weird restaurant flow where it just felt...empty and low energy despite going on a Saturday night. Terrible service to boot and I think the servers know the food is not good because no one asked us how we liked anything. Would be surprised if this place lasts 2 years. Yikes. read more

Let me start with, my daughter loves sushi and since we live around the corner from here, we have been here sooooooooooo many times... it's actually embarrassing how many times lol Normally when restaurants first open, they need time to work out the kinks but right off the bat, everything was amazing. Hence we keep coming back. As time went on, (and it hasn't been open that long), the quality has gone down. They switched sauces (not for the better), the portions have gotten smaller and the food is not cooked to the quality that it had been. I'm especially disappointed in the calamari because it used to be AMAZING and now the dipping sauce is like honey mustard and there's less and less coating on each piece so they are extremely chewy. I'm pretty bummed because it had become my daughter and my spot but can't say I'll be going there much :( FYI if you do go, get the ramen fries, they won't disappoint read more

I have been to Alchemy twice now. The food was great, service was amazing as a regular sit down diner. And the ambiance is pretty chill, not like they are trying to make things overly fancy. The second time there, very recently was with a group and sat at the bar area. The bartender was SUPER nice (Jeff or John...can't remember exactly, sorry...) and his fellow workers were equally as friendly and helpful. The food and drinks are both great! If you are looking for this to be the farm to table restaurant that was once in Gloucester it's far from it. The menu is similar to other serenity restaurants like Soma. We went for sushi and a drink. I ended up getting the spicy tuna poke, it was very underwhelming, it was ok at best, it was different than what was the menu. It lacked texture, and the flavor wasn't there, it was bland and the mango was no ripe and fought with the kalamata olive like ingredient (still not sure what that was) (( the spicy tuna at their other restaurant minglewood is amazing btw)) My boyfriend and I both got the same drink thinking, which I can only describe as the most creative drink I've ever had, but I couldn't drink it. The garnish smelled like bad fish and the drink was as if bath and body works body spray had been placed in a tequila bottle and left at sea for 100 years. When the floor manager noticed we hadn't touched them when the bill came I said it wasn't for us and he very pretentiously informed us " it's a drink that would do better in Boston or Cambridge" glad I don't live in the city any more I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ He as kind enough to comp our drinks after being rude and pretentious. Our server was very kind but when asked to split the bill just ran my card twice ... maybe ill go back after they have been open a bit to sort them selves out.. or maybe ill just drive the extra few minutes to go eat in Cambridge and get a decent cocktail. read more

I enjoyed the atmosphere on the patio. Looks like it has an amazing outdoor bar. The food was tasty however the service was just okay no utensils such as a fork knife or napkin had arrived prior or with the food I had to steal off the cart myself in the entrance.
