Stopped in for Dinner last night, so glad we did. This restaurant is part of the Serenitee Group, and we always found ourselves going to one of their other locations, decided to stop here for a change. This was our first time here, and had a great experience. Unfortunately we didn't get any names for this review. We were greeted by the absolute nicest hostess, shorter woman maybe in her 50's, however, we chose to sit at the bar. The bartender was great, offering suggestions on Draft Beers, since I usually only drink Lagers or Pilsners. She suggested Rothaus, which I'd never had, but was exactly what I was looking for. For dinner my wife ordered the BBLTA, which she enjoy. The "A" stands for Avacado, and we are still trying to figure out what the first "B" stands for. I ordered the Pickle-Brined Fried Chicken, which was out of this world. I honestly can't even describe it, you just have to try it to understand. The waitress was very attentive, but definitely not overbearing. It was a Monday night, so was slower than I imagine it would normally be. I am giving this experience 5 since everything was spot on. The menu selection is great and the food is awesome - but as other reviewers have mentioned the service is pretty slow. Personally I don't mind because I like to take my time, but if you are someone who wants to get in and out this is not the place for you. read more

We had a delicious late lunch after a walk around the Marketplace. Ashley was our server. Very helpful with the menu and answering our questions. The Virgin Bloody definitely had horseradish in it. Strong flavors, but good. I had Cobb salad. Very tasty with a delicious mix of chicken, avocado, blue cheese, and multi colored tomatoes. My husband had a hamburger, cooked just right and yummy fries. Enough for both of us. Ladies room was clean, no paper on the floor, hate that. Beautiful ambiance. Homey, comfortable, friendly. We went here last night for dinner, waitress was fantastic, very attentive. I had the burger, and she had the rotisserie chicken dish. Both meals were great and the fries that came with my burger tasted so good that without a thought I ate them all (something I rarely do) Drinks were good too. They had a good selection of beers on tap and she enjoyed a couple of the "hocus pocus" cocktails. The atmosphere in there was really cool. We shared the apple crisp or whatever its called for dessert and again, that did not disappoint. We'll be back for sure. read more

I came here with my 2 friends for a Mother's Day brunch. We called the restaurant on the way there and asked about wait times, since they were not doing a wait-list and were apparently all booked out that day. We were told about 45 mins. We took a chance and went anyways. We walked in and got seated right away. What a surprise that was! The restaurant was not busy, there were empty tables and empty bar seats. Staff was not running around. The waitress was nice, but I realized that she never introduced her name, so I cannot be specific. Drinks came out fairly fast. I had asked what the popular cocktails were and the waitress mentioned some blueberry lemonade vodka drink. It tasted so watered down, and I regret getting that drink. My friend did like her special Mother's Day cocktail (a strawberry/coconut drink). We got the Chicken Dumplings, Ramen Fries, Caramelized Onion and Bone Marrow Dip, Chicken n' Waffles, and 2 sushi rolls. We ended up waiting 35-40 mins for our food to get to the table. I am not exaggerating. My 2 friends finished their drinks, their waters, and not once did the waitress come back to say anything about where our food was, or even ask if we needed anything. One friend was so thirsty for water. At one point, the waitress had asked us if we wanted another round of drinks (while we are here starving, still waiting for food). We declined any more drinks. We asked her where the food was, she said she would go check, and never came back for another 15 mins or so! We were looking for her and did not spot her anywhere at all. The food finally came and things started to taste more bland as they came. There was also a table that came in after us and I don't understand how they got their food at the same time as us. The Sushi rolls were probably the best thing we ate, we got the Spicy Monster and another roll with Wagyu. Next okay thing was the chicken dumplings. The Ramen fries was so basic, had no distinguishing Ramen flavor at all. The Caramelized Onion & Marrow dip looked like French onion dip you buy from grocery store, and it was really sweet, with no bone marrow taste. The crostini that came with it was warm, but soft and soggy, like they just microwaved it. The Chicken n' Waffles was not good. The chicken breast was dry and the outer crust just falls off, waffles were dry. Towards the end, another staff member came over, he may have been the manager. He asked how everything was and we explained to him that we had such a long wait for food. He said he would go check the back and let them know that. I didn't understand how that would have changed anything when we have our food now. He never even came back to say anything else. He walked by the table again, said nothing. I could keep going but I will leave it at this. I will never go back or recommend this place. I've been a waitress before so I tried to relate, but I could not. We ended up going to another place in the plaza for our 2nd round of drinks. read more

We are big fans of Maggie's and The Spot so when we heard that there would be another serenity restaurant even closer, we were excited to try it out. Granted, this restaurant literally just opened so there are going to be some flaws, and we knew that going in. The service was very good, but the biggest upset was the food. The vibe of this restaurant seems like they would offer healthy and modern choices. I was with a vegetarian and there was not a single entree that she would be able to eat, and no sushi at all. How do you not have vegetarian sushi? Why was the kitchen unable to accommodate her? Besides salad there was literally nothing that could be adapted to be vegetarian besides the paella, which would have only worked if we both wanted to get it as it's table sized. She ended up getting a salad which she said was good, but not what she wanted. I got the BBLTA which was also good, a little soggy. We also had ramen fries as an app, which were once again, very good, but then there were no alternatives for sides for my meal, so I got a second serving of fries. Until the menu changes, we do not plan on going back. We'll stick with yard house down the street or back to Maggie's. read more

Our second time coming to this fairly new restaurant in Marketstreet. We usually sit at the bar and people-watch while eating. Normally, I might give this a 5-star review, but I dropped my impression as I mis-read the menu. I see the word 'Wedge' as in Wedge Salad an menu item I love and I automatically assume iceberg lettuce. Nope. This one was served with the word 'Frisée' or endive instead and my overall impression of the salad dropped. My fault entirely, but who would even think to change the ingredients like that? That's not a wedge salad so don't call it a Wedge Salad. Disappointing. read more

I been a loyal serenity customer for years. Tonight was my first visit to Alchemy. The decor is very comfortable and the ambiance was great. I could actually have a conversation with my wife without yelling. However the food was a little disappointing. We decided to have app's and beers and watch the game. Pickles were excellent but the Asian spare ribs although tasty were cold. Not what I expected. It didn't work well for my wife. We also had Mac and cheese with a bacon adder. For a $5.50 adder I expect bacon. Our dish had a few crumbs on bacon hiding in the bread crumbs that were on top. No taste and a terrible value. You have to do better. read more

My husband and I have been big fans of opus, Maggie's farm and the spot so we were very excited to try alchemy. Unfortunately we were extremely disappointed. First, the service was extremely slow which I can understand for opening week so we were fine with that as long as the food and drink were worth the wait (we were there for 2.5 hours). The sushi was good but the miso fries were extremely salty to the point that you couldn't eat more than a few, the chicken ramen I ordered had ZERO flavor and the rib eye entree was awful-- the steak had a strange tang (either freezer burned or old), it was served with deep fried season-less home-fry like potatoes that didn't really taste like anything and grilled salad which was okay and maybe the best thing on the plate. Brownie dessert was good but it was your basic brownie Sunday, nothing special. Some if the cocktails we got were good but some not so much. We probably won't be back. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for a light dinner the other night. We understood that they had just opened and were probably just still trying to figure it out. The food was fine but not mind blowing. Our server was extremely nice. Our beer was forgotten and my food came out late. At the end, we were charged for 3 glasses of wine that were not ours. Awesome customer service! Came here tonight with my husband and ordered the steak tips. I didn't like them, they were a bit chewy for me, but I didn't want to complain. The waitress, however, noticed I wasn't loving them and insisted on making it right. A few seconds later the manager comes over and apologizes profusely and offers to being me something else. I ended up with a burger (delicious!) and both meals taken off the bill. I left a large tip despite the small bill because I was just so well taken care of and ended up with a yummy meal. The staff here is unprofessional. I ordered a burger and other things. She repeated the order back to me and it was all right. So we got all the food served to us except the burger. I looked for my waitress but she was nowhere to be found. I was waiting for about 30 minutes waiting for her to walk by at least. But there was like no waitresses inside, only outside for the outdoor dining. Turns out she was in the back sitting at the booth talking to a make coworker. When she finally arrived to my table, i asked her when my burger will be ready and she said "Burger?" In a confused tone. Having been to Alchemy in Gloucester and loving it was happy when I saw it was coming to Market St. Lynnfield. First visit when they first opened was ok. Second visit was horrible. Sat at the bar waited 15 mins to order a drink from inattentive bartender who had to google how to make a PAINKILLER! And it wasn't good. Ordered a few apps. Waited a long time when bartender admitted he never put in the app! California rolls were good . CHarcuterie board was tiny and the bread was hard as a rock. And the well done wings were not Well done and fatty. When it was time to order our entrees we just couldn't get the bartenders attention so we paid and left! We eat out at least twice a week and never leave and reviews that aren't positive especially during these covid days but I just could not let this one go. I'm sad. Hope you guys can get it together. I know it's hard to get help but please train the help you have to do their best. read more

Definitely should not have used the Alchemy name since it set an expectation of quality consistent with Alchemy in Gloucester, and didn't near live up even though Serenitee Group is a team of experienced restauranteurs, so this is not their first rodeo. The restaurant itself has a great vibe as the former Gaslight spot, and our waitress was very pleasant although inattentive and slow. We pretty much had to flag her down whenever we needed anything and then be prepared to wait, with the exception that she brought our bill unsolicited right after we finished lunch without asking if we wanted anything else. We then had to find her when we wanted coffee, which was horrible as an aside and no option for capuccino although we were told they are considering getting a machine.(!) Aside from slow service, the food was meh. Tuna poke bowls were small and bland, sushi was okay but again expected more of Serenitee group fare, Drinks were average and slow to arrive.... To add insult to luncheon injury, my Serenitee loyalty points were not credited, which I only realized later, even though the waitress took all the info. Soooo, sticking with other Serenitee restaurants for now in the hope that Alchemy gets its act together but they have a long way to go unfortunately, and unless that happens this is something of a wasted great location. :( read more

The atmosphere was great. It was at 7:00 pm dark out and we were seated in the booth that looked out the windows to the Market Place. Beautiful view. The food was very good. Alchemy was a huge disappointment tonight . We were a party of six out celebrating my Wife's Birthday today. Four adults and two kids. Kids ordered the kids burgers, adults ordered the fish sandwich, chicken sandwich tuna roll and salmon. All were blah at best. The rolls were very over grilled to a point of being charcoal black. Not edible at all. We all walked out saying that it was the worst meals we had in a long time. I would save the money and stay home and order a pizza. You will be much more satisfied. read more

I went into Alchemy on account of a friend who loves Japanese food, and since this particular night marked their opening we we're ready to try every app on the menu. Nothing disappointed. The Japanese street corn was my personal favorite, with the runner up being the crispy calamari. A spot with great calamari is a spot you go back to... on a consistent basis. The sushi served in the second course tasted fresh and well prepared. Alchemy is playing with Japanese American flavors that stimulate all of your senses. The flavor profile stood out on the bar menu as well. They offer a plethora of tasteful whiskies and rums. Service is wonderful and fast. read more
