If I can rate this place a zero I would. Horrible experience used to be a good spot when their dad ran the spot now that he's not there horrible Worked with Isaac. Guy is a know it all. Took my rear end in for inspection before I reinforce it and get it chromed. Said everything was good. Took it to him when it was chromed picked it up and when I put fluid in it was leaking from the pinion seal right away and from the passenger side axle leaked out all the fluid over night. Took it too him he fixed it and it leaked again and blamed the hydraulic and the chrome. I then took my rear end to my mechanic and was told that it's leaking due to Isaac from Alcantars putting the wrong seals on my pinion. He also then said my rear end is not good since it's leaking from the axles after he had told me it was good. After taking it him twice he couldn't fix the leaks and Continued to blame it on the chrome even after he said he cleaned it I guess he ran out of options or excuses at that point. Wasn't going to right a review but my rear end is still leaking from the axles now. Have no idea why thinking they messed my rear end up by grinding down the housing too much which is the reason they added a life saver bearing to it which solved nothing. Also the last time I picked up my car my lug nuts were all loose on both side. The driver side lug nuts were even on backwards imagine that. Don't know how's that even possible but that's the work you get from these guys that say they can't guarantee there work Do yourself a favor and save your money, time and frustration and don't go here My loss is your gain if you follow this advice read more

Took my transfer case here for a rebuilt and to install SYE kit for my Jeep. I also got a custom drive shaft built. I normally do all my work myself but since I have multiple projects going at a time and the price was fair i was able to save some time by paying for it. I installed my transfer case and new drive shaft. After two short trips I experienced severe driveline wobble followed by a blown up transfer case and my new drive shaft broken along with very a expensive tow. About $3,000 down the trash. I called and explained the situation and did not accuse them of anything but asked possibly if I would be able to get a small discount if I were to go with them again and buy a new drive shaft. The guy was very rude and said how can I blame them. First of all I didn't blame him but just brought to his attention what happened to me. As a mechanic I clearly can see what happened and pictures speak for themselves. Although I can't prove It was their bad workmanship. This picture will explain what happened. Transfer case rear yoke was not torque to spec. The yoke shaft nut backed off completely and threw the drive shaft which caused the transfer case to get wacked and explode. read more

Avoid visiting this shop, Alcantars transmission terrain performance LLC, as Felipe is a fraudulent thief. I had him work on my transmission, but after four attempts, it still wasn't properly fixed. He attempted to shift blame onto me by claiming I had used the wrong oil grade, which doesn't make sense since I wouldn't change the oil after a recent transmission rebuild. Initially, I requested a rebuilt transmission, but he later admitted he only repaired some gears, then suggested a rebuilt transmission would cost more. He uses tactics to confuse and manipulate customers, and his true nature becomes evident when issues arise. The dad gets loud, rude and disrespectful. Do yourself a favor and don't do business with this place especially for a transmission repair. Mind you my truck left me stranded two days after I picked it up due to a faulty/used master cylinder that he replaced. Avoid this place!! read more

Company is unorganized and has very poor workmanship, gave them $800 to install 2 new axles , bearings and seals . Also to straighten the housing of the rear end , got it back after weeks and weeks and waiting almost 2 hours for them to finish on the day it was promised , still bent and the new axle on the passenger side is wrong , little help over the phone..suppose to remove the eear end and give them another chance ..Yeah right!! Just turned 50,000 miles on my Ram 3500 with the rebuilt differential by the guys at Alcantar. I'm kinda picky about American made parts in my truck and everything else for that matter. They have worked in both my 1997 & 2000 mustangs. They have done Performance upgrades on the differential and I have had no problems with their work and customer service. My 4Runner had a rear warping noise as I pressed and released the accelerator. I brought my 4Runner in for the differential to be completely redone because that was recommended by two other shops. Replacing the differential would have run over $1000. After Lisandro and his father had a chance to diagnose the issue. They advised me, that I only had to replace a few bearings. Helped me out in my time of need and recommended me a proper upgrade since the vehicle was going to be down for repair anyways. I upgraded to a Detroit Truetrac Posi and couldn't be happier! This is the worst place ever! i made a big mistake on taking two shafts to be adjusted one to be cut and another to extend, they promised one in a couple of days and the other on three days... they took two weeks and the job was really bad! the weld is ugly and i do not think has been balanced due to the fact that my truck vibrates really bad! the young guy at the front desk has attitude problems and is really careless about customers, I had a really bad experience with this place, i never ever go back and i would never recommend this place! read more

Definitely recommend this shop! Walked in on my day off after looking for someone to fix my F-150's rear differential. I knew what the issue was to an extent but wanted to find a good mechanic that I could trust to do the job. Spoke with them for a bit, explained the issue my truck had and off the bat they knew what was wrong, gave me good honest advice and options. They beat the prices that Ford dealerships were charging and I was more than happy with their customer service. My car was ready by the time promised (dropped it off on Thursday, they said Monday afternoon it'll be complete). Now she runs like a beauty and I can't complain. read more

I brought my truck in for a shake/shimmy, after waiting about an hour, the father came out, I said can we go for a test drive, and he said no need and he brought the car to the back. He later said said the shake might be the transfer case and the worse case scenario is $850 and 4 days to work on it but he said he was booked until the following Tuesday before I can bring the car in. As I was asking questions if the issue and the solution that this might be some thing else, his price went up to $950. I called back later that day and book an appt for the following week. The son said to bring the car in at 8pm so we can start on it when his dad arrives. When I brought the truck in the next day, the son said he forgot to tell me that they are closed two days this week and the truck will be ready the following week. The son also forgot the quote and he said his dad would call me later that day for the quote. The next day, I finally get a call confirming that $950 max. I received a call the next day saying the max was what I thought it was, $950. I received a call a week later, saying the shake was resolved with a drive shaft and a loose output pilot from the yoke of the transmission. I asked if he drove the car at high speed and he said Yes and that the other noise or shake are the tires (bad tires from cupping). I said that is just a noise and has nothing to do with the shimmy shake. So I paid for the replacement drive shaft and an hour labor. So they had my truck for a week for something that took an hour of labor?? So I thinking they never look at my truck until the following week? I still had the shake, so I had the tires re balanced and the tires shaved to remove any cupping. The tires are now quiet but I still had the shake, so the following week when I had time (one week later) I brought the truck back and told him I had the tires shaved and rebalanced but I still have the shimmy shake. We went for a ride and he looked under the car again and said my front drive shaft is bad, but that he was not going to add any grease so I can see the problem when I go home at add grease. He said the front drive shaft (this is a 4WD) is shaking or vibrating from spinning at different speeds. I said the front drive shaft does not move as I have manual locking hub, the dad said "...it does, trust me it does". Ok so I bring the car home to add some grease and before I do that, I look at the weight on the front shafts and I drive the car around and the location of the weights did not move, so my front drive shaft does not spin when the truck is moving (which is what I thought in the first place). I drove back thinking I must have mis heard him (the dad speaks a little broken English) on what the front drive shaft or that he is referring to something else(?). I walk back into his shop and said the front shaft does not move as I originally stated, he said How do you know? I said because the weights on the shaft did not move. The dad then said, I have to drive the car on the freeway, I said I did, that is how I got here!! He said don't come back here since there is no problem or that I was causing a problem or something. I took my car in to get the transmission rebuilt and was told it would take three to four days. Okay, fine. I figured a week at the most because I'm sure they'll have to order some parts. THREE weeks later, it was finally finished. I paid $998 for a rental car during this period. I can put up with the three week wait, I'm NOT happy about never getting a phone call for any reason or at any time letting me know about the delay. I had to call them to find out what was going on every time. - They killed my battery by not keeping it maintained so that was another $100 I had to spend, which I'll try to get back from them once I get a written letter from the guys at the auto-parts store who checked the battery and then sold me a new one. - Fourth gear grinds anytime I shift into it unless I do it painfully slow (say two or three seconds to shift into the gear without it grinding). - The car was left filthy. Not a good business practice for someone who just gave you over $1100 worth of business. read more

Called ahead of time To take in my dads 06 Tacoma for differential suspension problems at 8am. I was told it'd be ready the same day by 2.(I live 2 hours away) they constantly kept furthering the time. By 4 they told me they barely began to look at it. By 5:30(closing) they told me it wouldn't be ready until next day at 2pm. I wasted a whole day 2 hours from home and was forced to get a ride home from a friend. As I was heading down there I called to see how the work was going and was told it wouldn't be ready until closing!!!! Absolutely ridiculous. Once the truck was ready they had left the hand brake light on which o didn't notice until on the freeway as I was anxious to leave such a disgraceful establishment. When my dad called them about it they said they didn't do it but he can bring it in. Terrible communication and service. Wont be taking my vehicle back to untrustworthy shop who can't accept their mistakes and act like they'd be doing a favor. 0 star if possible read more

Took my Toyota 4x4 in to have a vibration checked out. in 30 minutes they diagnosed it as a bent drive shaft. They took measurements and had a new one fabricated in a couple of days. I came back they had it installed in an hour. The vibration was completely fixed! Perfect execution of diagnosis and repair at a fair price. I totally recommend this place for drive-line issues, Especially 4x4's. Not all shops are off-road drive-line specialists. This shop has it down! read more

Considering I dont know ANYTHING about cars, they were up front and honest with me about how much it was going to cost and what problems my vehicle had. They also have another shop in East L.A. on Atlantic that has the same level of service; although it is smaller, it's still a great environment. After talking to a few shops I decided to try these guys out. Ordered a performance automatic trans for towing/off road. First off they took WAY longer than they time they quoted, no big deal as I would rather have quality than speed. When the trans finally arrived I should have seen the first red flag which was all the grease still on the case painted over with silver paint. Looks like the trans was assembled, painted the whole thing then they masked off to paint the gov cover and pump black. The next issue was the deep sump that was added to the trans by them. It had to be tapped for sending unit which they did before pick up, the problem was the boss was HUGE and about 3/4 of an inch outside the sump on the passenger side. I didnt notice this until I tried to put my driveshaft on which would not fit the boss even without the sender. I removed the sump to replace with one that would work with 4X4 and the next red flag, there was no extended filter adapter for the sump! I got a better quality sump with adapter and quality seal and proceeded to get the truck going. Once in and running it had a HUGE leak, at first I thought it was the new sump but after closer examination it was the spark control sending unit on the side of the trans. When driving it would shoot a stream of fluid out of the center of the switch which my wife immediately noticed as I took the truck for its first test out of the driveway. A lot of clean up required along with the fire risk as it would shoot the ATF right on the exhaust. After getting that leak taken care of it continued to leak and again I thought of the sump but after closer inspection it was leaking out the shift linkage shaft. WTF?!?!?!? It never gets better. So I drive the truck for 2200 miles and the trans looses gears after backing out of a parking spot, this was after easy local miles, no off road or towing. Im done! I pull out the trans and covert to manual for reliability sake as I dont want to have an issue 100 miles from nowhere in the desert where the truck is planned on being used. I see a friend that used to own a trans shop at a school reunion and tell him the story and we get together to get the trans apart to see what the issue was. I notice as the disassembly ensues none of the parts quoted in the estimate are present in the trans (seals, clutches, valve body mods) as well as a used pump which is really no surprise at this point. Failure was due to a shattered low/reverse sprag which I find out is a $22 part that was not replaced during "rebuild". So for almost $2K I got a used trans with a $75 seal and clutch kit and a sump not usable for my application. The only thing these guys are experts at is scamming you out of your money. You will get the same quality by going to the pick and pull and taking your chance with a junk yard part, at least you get some kind of warranty. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! read more

Inquired about shifting bushings for a 91 Toyota Hi-lux over the phone. I went to their shop and picked up in person, also asked if shifter bushings fit a Toyota Celica. Salesperson Lisandro A. was not helpful or attentive. His response; " I don't know" I only know what I sell. Asked what brand they were, (because they come in plastic see thru baggies with no instructions) his response;"I don't know". Asked if knew about installation, his response; "its basic just take off and put back on". Asked about the return policy, his response; 10 days but did not mentioned the 20% restocking fees ! Neither one fit my truck or my Celica and they were not the same quality compared to what they offer on E-bay. His lack of service failed to mentioned that they needed modification also. I did not want to break or force anything that does not fit. Trying to return these small items was a nightmare!! He acted as if he never seen me before,didn't remember the sale and insisted that someone else must of answered the phone. (I never used the parts or opened the ziplock baggies either.) He mentioned that I probably did not know what I was doing, argued about how correct he was and that his lack of knowledge does not excuse me from returning these items. Despite charging me for the restocking he insisted that his business is rated 5 stars on E-bay!. I mentioned since he has done his job on E-bay he should focus more on his own brick n mortar store. He made it clear that online shopping is probably one of the best tools around in avoiding their lack of customer service and professionalism. By far an awful experience, will definitely not be back. !! read more
