I can't believe I never came in here until recently! This is my new to-go place if I want some burritos and al pastor fries. So juicy and delicious! This is not for the healthy eaters so make sure you have a good attitude and appetite when you order. Food portions are huge, so plenty to share around. If you eat a burrito on its own, you'll be so full. You can ask for no beans, if you're like me and not a fan of them (sorry, not sorry). And if you're lucky, you might see some roosters wandering around while you wait in the car for the drive through. There is also the option to go inside to place the order but location is small FYI and you would need to do street parking. read more

This place just always hits the spot. When it gets busy, you can see the drive thru line overflowing into the street a bit. I prefer it over all the other similar chains like Albert's, Alfredo's, etc. The other places just doesn't do it justice like this one... prices have gone up over the years, but it's still very reasonable given then amount of food they give you. The food and salsas just hit the spot. I got 10 Taquitos $10 + ( a bit over fried today, but still okay) and a side of rice and beans $4.50+ I went during lunch time today and boy that was a bad decision. I ordered a chorizo burrito and I asked for just egg, chorizo and bean. I asked if they can put red salsa inside burrito and guy right now but he said he would do it. This is a staple in El Monte. The menu is vast and lots of options. It's located in a busy part of town and the speaker at the drive through needs some fine tuning. My go to meals is the 10 rolled taquitos with the guacamole and cheese. That's fire....... The tacos are gigantic and in most cases 1-2 will pretty much fill you up. I moved from San Diego to Los Angeles a few years ago. I have been looking for a taco shop that would satisfy my Mexican food cravings since. In SD, you can't go five miles without driving by a drive thru taco shop. That in itself, a drive thru taco shop, seems to be a unicorn in LA. A local LA fav makes carne asada that is overwhelmed with lime. I like a balanced flavored burrito/taco where one flavor doesn't overpower the other ingredients. My test for a new taco shop is they must make a good carne asada burrito. If the taco shop can't make this basic staple, then I need to move on. I don't care too much for fillers like rice, beans or potatoes. We drive 20 min to get here (yea, Fas Trak). So far, we have had the machaca burrito (no cheese), chorizo burrito, carne asada burrito (of course!), shredded beef tacos and rolled tacos topped with carne asada (check out the pic). All were yummy. Didn't give them five stars because there is a minor issue with consistency on the shredded beef tacos and machaca burrito. but they were still good. My BF was born and has lived in SD all his 50 some years of life. He grew up eating at taco shops. This is the only place we have found that makes food like the taco shops we love in SD. read more

This location is sooooo good! Came by with my bf for a late night food run, and went through drive through. They're super quick and the wait wasn't long for 12/1 AM. Ordered the carne asada burrito (for the bf) and the SUPREME quesadilla. Their supreme quesadilla is BOMB!!!! Honestly, it's like a flat burrito with cheese, but the filling is flavorful in every bite. Inside there is pico de gallo, cheese, carne asada meat, lettuce, and cilantro. There were two huge pieces in the box, since their tortillas are pretty big, and it was worth every penny. Would recommend this location for their quality food and late night drunchies run. I have been an ardent fan of Alberto's on Brookhurst in Anaheim because the flavors of the food are quite delicious. However, this last time my husband and I ordered at Albertos, the cashier was more interested in talking to the cook. Our order was completely wrong. While we were waiting for our order, two other cars placed orders and she did not write anything down or entered in a Pad. She just said, "come to the window". I am curious if she handled their order like ours. Of course, I could have opened up the order and check, but burritos are hard to open up in the car, etc. Also, when we got home, we DID NOT want to go back to Albertos! Carne asada fries 10/10 - their portion size is HUGE, the price raise is still worth it - I always ask for pico de Gallo but they always forget to add it :( - their refried beans are one of my favorite in El Monte!!! - fries taste like McDonald fries which is AMAZING! Albertos has always been a hit or miss for me. Some days the food would be good and seasoned well while on other days it can be quite bland. You can't go wrong with the price and its huge portions. There aren't a lot of Mexican restaurants that are open 24/7 except for the other Albertos wannabe locations so I guess this place would be okay after getting shitfaced at the club or getting high with the homies. Tiny shack in a tiny lot with some outdoor tables. Parking is a serious pain though, so stick to the drive through. You'll be trapped in the lot if the drive through is busy. Wait can be long at peak hours. Sometimes cars in the drive through spill onto the street. I've never had an issue with service though. They take cash and card, but card has a $.50 fee. As for the food, I usually stick to the asada versions of the burritos, chimichangas, quesadillas, and super fries. Pricing is great, but meat quality is never consistent. Sometimes you get decent pieces, sometimes you get gristle. It's not bad enough to stop me from coming back, but if I lived closer to another spot, I'd switch loyalty without hesitation. read more

i love this alberto's. it's open 24/7 which is a plus when you're drunkie and are craving some food. they always have a big line but they take your order and get you out of there fast. i have never had a problem with the cooks or person handing my food. everyone is very nice. it does look small on the inside so i'd rather wait the extra mins in the drive through. read more

I come here for lunch . I work overnights. Every time I come here I get a bean and cheese burrito and the price keeps changing. I feel I'm being ripped off . She said the burrito was 7.70 . Always get my burritos with two different meats and pay the extra charge for the extra meat but this time I was not able to do that. Apparently they can't charge you extra for that. Manager just kept saying sorry no we only do one meat cause theres no option for two meat but how do you charge extra for extras!?!
