This hole in wall place is phenomenal. The gyros are delicious, full of meat. We were able to sample a few items before ordering, which I really enjoyed and found very generous. The guy working was helpful and knowledgeable about the food he was serving. The place isn't much to look at, so if you're looking for a nice atmosphere don't expect it here. I sent this via email to Albee's a week ago and haven't received a response. I ordered delivery from Albee's via Hungry Duck on Sunday 6/28/2017 . What I received was the opposite of what I thought I had ordered. Looking back I can see their ordering system says plus not minus regarding individual toppings. Apparently it also removes all other toppings when you make a change. By this logic the gyro I ordered for my husband shouldn't have had any toppings since I didn't change anything for his. When I called to complain (after spending nearly $60) I was met with semi rudeness. Basically I was told I got what I ordered and to bad if I was unhappy. This is not the kind of company I want to ever give money to. The ordering system is confusing and you didn't have the hummus I originally ordered from your menu. I was stuck with spanakopita that I didn't want. I was pleasant and gracious when you called to do a substitution. To bad my problem wasn't met with the same graciousness. We eat there regularly and I've met the owner who seems like a good guy. To bad the staff aren't as nice. Had the gentleman on the phone treated me decently and explained my mistake in ordering I would've been fine. The fact that he blew me off makes me angry and we'll never do business there again. read more

Hummus was amazing, and the gyro meat was equally impressive. I ended up ordering the large regular gyro with everything. Intended to eat half and save half for later, but couldn't stop... My family and I were visiting from out of town and had a great experience. One of the young men behind the counter went out of his way to make his feel at home and gave us each a sample of the gyro meet. All their stuff is homemade and I felt like the quality of their Tzatziki and the hummus was really good. I would definitely go back and recommend this place to a friend. I tried the W. 18th location for lunch because it's closer to where I work. I, too, was taken aback by the guy's pronunciation of the name of the product: "jai-ros." I wanted to look him in the eye and ask him how he could seriously say that, but something defensive in his tone made it seem intentional. Their modus operandi on finding out you're new is instantly to offer you a taste of their meat (it's said to be a combination of beef and lamb). This is probably because nearly anyone who's ever had real gyros (pronounced "yee-ros") knows what real, yummy, dripping, spit -roasted lamb tastes like, and will run in the other direction on trying this stuff. Despite there being no excuse for serving this ground, compressed mystery meat from a spit, I decided to try it because it seemed to taste OK, there are few alternatives nearby, and I was on a mission to see what this highly-rated lunch was about. They had no whole wheat pitas, and the $5.00 "empire state fries" had been replaced with garlic fries for $2.50. I asked about getting plain fries, and the guy looked at me like I was an idiot for wanting such a thing, but said they could do that. I asked how much they would cost, and he said $2.50. I mentioned reading about curly fries for $1.50 at the W. 11th location, to no response. So, I skipped the fries. I ordered a "sandwich" to avoid the linguistic issue, and was glad I did when a second worker came out and said "jai-ros" to the next customer. They made sure to give me a punch card with the first punch on it -- but I assure you there will not be a second one. The sandwich itself seemed all right, with nice fresh onions, a bare squirt of tzatziki, wisps of fresh lettuce and tomato, and an infinitesimal quantity of what must have been crumbled feta cheese in water from a squirt bottle. God forbid they should use real sheep's milk feta -- this barely recognizable wisp tasted like the cow's milk variety. There was a reasonable quantity of the mystery meat, but I sat there thinking how I can get a bigger, much better, and more satisfying lunch at any number of other places. The meat did not feel very good in my stomach afterwards, and it finally dawned on me why they so deliberately mispronounce "gyros" -- because a real yee-ros contains actual meat, and a "jai-ros" is made with industrial pink slime. It's amazing how different things work for different people. Two stars for nice fresh wisps of vegetables. read more

Decent customer service 2 stars, gyro meat did not taste fresh though. The Greek salad wasn't most definitely not worth $10.00 (quantity wise). The gyro pita was alright, edges of the gyro meat were hard; stale or ocercooked. Establishment looked clean and presentable. Probably won't be back to be honest. read more

The gyro was a good, tad bit salty for my taste. Garlic fries were good. The customer service was awesome.

We can't for the life of us figure out why this location is so much better than the one on 11th, but the meat and falafel here are just much more flavorful. The service is great - always friendly. They made a minor mistake in our order once and immediately apologized profusely and brought us free baklava. Really, it wasn't a big deal, but who says no to free baklava? I was really disappointed. The meat was hardly browned and the tzatziki was the blandest I've ever had. I've never eaten a gyro before and had the black olives be the strongest tasting thing in the pita. Even the garlic fries were pale and insipid. I was so hoping to find a nice gyro in the area; guess I'll have to keep looking. read more

After driving by a few times on my early morning commute, I managed to pass while Albee's was open and stopped for lunch. I love a pita sandwich, but try to limit carbs, so I opted for the Gyro Salad. The salad was of generous size, with plenty of tasty gyro meat. The veggies were abundant and fresh. Fantastic falafel and gyros! They offer both in either salad or pita form, with all of the standard fixings. Everything tastes super fresh and homemade, and is seasoned perfectly. Starving during our road trip and found this place through yelp and what a gem! We came in after lunch hour and there was only one person behind the counter working double time. We didn't mind the wait as we got to people watch and listen to the music playing on their speakers. We ordered dolmas (my weakness), one order of falafel pita and one gyro, and side order of garlic fries. I wasn't too impressed with the dolmas but everything else was delicious. They had an interesting selection of sodas and even kombucha! I was really impressed by the quality and price overall! Definetly a great place for a quick meal. read more
